Obama Taxes and Two Plus Two Obama Taxes and Two Plus Two

10-24-2008 , 05:41 AM
Hi Everyone:

At Two Plus Two Publishing LLC we have three full time employees. This includes our book packer, our order scheduler, and our general manager. The past four years, we have given each of these people an end of year bonus. If Obama's tax plan gets implemented, the end of year bonuses would most likely be history.

In addition, we are known to pay some of the highest royalty rates in our industry. Future authors will see lower royalty rates and it's even possible that a couple of books will require a renegotiate of the contract with the author(s) or they won't be worth reprinting.

Two Plus Two Interactive works a little differently, but we have been thinking about adding a full time in house employee here as well, Again, if Obama's tax plan is implemented, this new employee will be history.

This is what happens when you spread the wealth. It will definitely hurt our companies.

Best wishes,
Mason

Poor baby.

On the plus side, all of our children will be better off in the future!

On the plus side: online poker might not get killed and your company won't go bankrupt as a result.

Btw, backing up your claims with numbers would make it seem less like a partisan attack.

But under the Obama tax plan, won't the degens have more mobnies to buy the books?

So real-life small businesses will be affected? Interesting.

How?

So nobody thinks if this is effecting every small business that their will not be job loss? Mason is just one of thousands...

Screw it lets just all get mad at EXXON MOBIL, greedy bastards. Never mind they average around 27 BILLION dollars in taxes each year or roughly the exact amount of the bottom 50% of income taxes taken in.

But we need more from corporations...

Will you be featured on John McCain´s tour as Joe the gambling businessman?

It's a shame you won't be able to hire the new guy, but wouldn't the lack of bonuses be offset by the tax cut? I mean, IF the tax cuts come to pass, your employees are looking at anywhere from a thousand dollars to 3,000 in tax relief, depending on their particular deductions.

I guess their bonuses could be more than that, but...

But on the other hand, it's "less likely" that Mason's book packer will get a bonus this year (besides the bonus of his tax rebate, of course), so maybe it's a wash?
10-24-2008 , 09:27 AM
"Wouldn't be able?"

Perhaps it's actually "will choose not to because our equity owners and executives will not be taking a pay cut."

Mason you have admitted this site is worth 8 figures. Come on.

I'm so confused! Sklanksy endorsed Obama, now Mason endorses McCain? Who has more weight? Mason owns the company, sure, but Sklansky is probably more well-known for his books.

We need Ryan Beal or Mike Haven to endorse to break the tie IMO

I don't know, when I think small business, I'm usually thinking the guy who runs the local deli, not the guy who runs the most popular poker publishing company/ most popular internet poker messageboard in the world. But that's just me. And if Mason doesn't want to continue to give his employees bonuses because he can't stomache a cut to whatever his over 250,000 a year profits are, thats fine, one, they're getting their own tax cuts which will offset this, and two, he'll see a corresponding decrease in the level of productivity by them.

The nation has a huge deficit and a military that is hemorrhaging money ($2.3 trillion) but you are concerned with bonuses?

And unicorns will populate the forests, farts will smell like choclate chip cookies, lingerie models will only date poker players.... oooooooooh boy, I can't wait!!!!!!

the increased chance that online poker gets legalized under a democratic administration dwarfs any tax concerns you might have. Also are you going to have to get rid of strategy stickies to boost book sales in light of obama's economic plan?

Dear Mason,

I am sorry to hear of this -- I would have hoped that 2+2 was successful and well-managed enough that it could position itself for the increased economic activity brought about by Obama's tax cuts to those earning less than 250k/year.

Fortunately, there are many of us who make more that 250k/yr that accept the need to pay a little more and understand that it will be well worth it in the long run.

Best regards,
Elliot Richardson

Personally I would prefer my kids have a better economy, better education, and more freedom than any other generation but I guess that is a difference of opinion. Less war in Iraq, more nation building in the Sudan. Great...

You don't have an issue with the fact that your income bracket currently pays close to 70% of all the income tax?

It astounds me the number of people that believe the 250K number..... by the time budget time rolls around, that number will be in the 60-80k range.

Get ready to grab your ankles Joe Average American.

It seems like an implicit endorsement. "Hey guys, I just came in here to make a new thread saying that Obama's tax plan will be bad for 2+2. Oh, don't get me wrong, this is saying nothing about how I'll vote or who I think you should vote for. It's just a comment, that's all."
