For those who are asking why did Comey have to say a thing when he did, the answer is simple. He had to get out in front of this. Can you imagine the **** storm he would be looking at if he didn't. There was already a decent chunk of the population who felt that the FBI is corrupt and had been bought off by Clinton. That chunk would only have grown in size had it leaked.

What bothers me the most was the report that there were agents that has this info for weeks and didn't disclose it to Comey until Thursday. If that turns out to be true, how are they not outed and fired?

"Comey has to do things because rabid angry idiots would conspiracy monger tons of insane theories and pillory Comey if he didn't" isn't exactly refuting the rhetorical question of why Comey had to to send the letter at the point of time that he did.

I guess it's nice that the right can gin up so much conspiratorial distrust of our institutions they have to dream up the correct behaviors to appease them into silence. I guess that's a form of representative democracy.

It's way more likely he's just mentally ill (he's also a big conspiracy guy, a typical indicator) than knows anything at all.
