Yeah, they go on a six-game winning streak and you're suddenly betting $3,200 on a game.

That would be a sick sweat to have 3200 on a game if they were playing someone equally as bad with their 4th starter.

The above double up only gets back the last bet, not all the bets before. The bolded edit shows the break even bets. Just to break even we are actually betting ~16K.

If we want to profit $100 after our bets, which is the goal of progressive betting systems, then it gets even worse.

200 to win 100 (-200)

600 to win 300 (-800)

1,800 to win 900 (-2,600)

5,400 to win 2,700 (-7K)

14.2K to win 7.1K (-21.2K)

42.6K to win 21.3K

So if the Pirates win 5 straight against you, you will either be +100 or down ~64K after that 6th game.
