So if the Rangers win by more than 2.5 then you lose .05 units? If the game is within 2 runs either way you lose 2 units? And you need the Tigers to win by 3 to make .95 units?

Isnt this the equivalent of betting 2 units on Tigers -2.5 -190? Seems like a bad idea.

1 or 2 run win: lose 2 units

Tigers win >3: wins 1.95 units (+ 2.95 minus 1 unit Tex -2 1/2)

Tex wins >3: wins .95 units (+1.95 minus 1 unit Det - 2 1/2)

Plus: Anyone look at the Rockies -2 1/2 system?

Record 15-23
Wins by 3+: 12
Losses by 3+: 11

Seriously Tom, if you want to make this system work here is a simple way to make it work.

R U ready?

1.Wait till Frank Francisco comes back this weekend- CJ is a spewtard closer.

2. Please only bet when Millwood or Padilla are on the hill.

Rinse/Repeat.

You keep talking about the offense only hitting solo bombs...the problem is Rangers pitching.

If you want to keep betting Harrison, Feldman, Benson, whoever- fine. But bet Padilla and Millwood 3 units more than the others.

When they trade Marlon Byrd or Murphy or Jones for Peavy and when Ben Sheets comes aboard then maybe you will make a run...but until then stick to Mill and Padilla.

Yesterday the Texas Rangers 2½ System made money even though the Rangers got shut-out. Not bad.

Today is again a rare occasion where I'm not a big fan of laying the 2.5 on the Rangers. Hamilton is probably going to sit again. The Rangers have lost nine straight games at Comerica Park. Dontrelle Willis' blanking of the Rangers yesterday had Ian Kinsler muttering to himself and wondering if "they’ve got a voodoo doll or what." I don't expect to win today's bet (although the last time I said this about Bartolo Colon we won). So we just need a little luck today.

I love early games... the air is more conducive to the Rangers hammering some long-distance bombs!

The only thing that would be better than this thread is a Rangers -3.5 system.

i really want to like this thread as much as everyone else but you are making that hard for me by including non-rangers 2.5 bets in your totals

That was G's 2nd post in this thread. Their opponents have been occasionally included since the beginning.

Beginning this weekend, the Silver Boot is on the line as the Rangers meet the Astros at Minute Maid Park. The Rangers have remained in possession of the coveted Silver Boot since 2007. You can be sure the Rangers will do everything they can to hold onto the desired Silver Boot.

That bad news is that Josh Hamilton is probably going to sit once again for today's game. To make things worse, the Rangers are sending out a rookie pitcher on his first major-league start tonight. Usually a rookie needs a lot of run support in his first start. Unfortunately you've seen what the Rangers offense has looked like lately without Josh Hamilton. I've been doing a lot of reading on his groin the last few days and the good news is that it's looking hopeful that he will finally play a full game on Saturday.

Now, folks usually I don't factor "coaching" and "motivation" too much into a single game of major-league baseball. However, this series against the Astros is an exception.

1) Coaching. As you may know, Nolan Ryan is the Rangers team president. Well, where did he come from? He spent the previous few years working closely with the Astros general manager. Folks, Nolan Ryan knows the Astros and you can be sure he's coaching all of the Rangers hitters and pitchers on their weaknesses.

2) Motivation. There's the Silver Boot, of course, but that will motivate both teams. I've been reading rumors that George W. Bush may be in attendance for tonight's game (he remains a close friend and contact with Nolan Ryan). If that happens, you better believe the Rangers will be highly motivated to win for their former owner.

Friday (1 Play)
1 Unit on Texas Rangers -2½ +210 (Greek)

Some books have the 2½ switched so make sure you don't bet the Rangers +2½ by mistake.

How much info can there be on one baseball player's groin?

And I'm curious as well.

Since we always bet the Rangers, regardless of who's pitching or playing, why research at all?
