The Texas Rangers are 4-5 so far this season. However, I noticed something about their wins/losses. Of their 4 victories, all were by 2 or more runs. They are a powerhouse team built for scoring a lot of runs. They may not be a 0.500 ball club this year, but with my system they don't need to be.

Friday (1 Play)
Texas Rangers -2½ +240 (5Dimes)

YTD: 0-0, 0% ROI

I can't give out too many details. There are times when the system calls for a bet on the other team minus two and a half runs. For those times, we'll also bet the Rangers minus two and a half runs to setup a big plus juice polish middle attempt.

If they were all 2+ run victories why wouldn't you play the -1.5?

25% of their wins are by 13 runs or more, bet you could get pretty sweet odds laying 12.5 runs.

i recall reading about the Weibull distribution of runs and the outliers being due to "feast or famine" offenses

On Friday the Rangers lost in a blowout to the Royals. Had we also bet the Royals -2.5 we would have made a profit on the game. However, as I said in the introduction, the Rangers are probably not a 0.500 ball club. They won't win most games. But when they do win, they will win big.

Saturday (1 Play)

I like this today. +240 for Meche vs. Harrison then +250 for Greinke vs. Millwood is a joke.

The good thing about this system is the way it takes advantage of the kurtosis in gambling lines. Black Swans ftmfw.

lol. let me guess: the first ~8 games of the season could be considered running 'normal', though. What makes the Rangers so special that they'll either win big or lose big?

Ian Kinsler. Josh Hamilton. Nelson Cruz. Michael Young.

These are some of the best sluggers in baseball. When they have a big day they will light up the scoreboard.
