Quick question. I understand that many higher tier professionals will soon have their limits cut online as well as in the casinos. Having infinite knowledge soon becomes the easiest thing of the business. The hardest part is having continuous outs and/ or runners for casino wagers. Just curious how bettors go about finding these people. I assume it begins with close friends etc and slowly trickles down until you inevitably run out. I can understand the idea of trust and exposure to one's self. A lot of the more sophisticated and knowledgeable people on here seem to be more reserved and extremely cautious of everything and everyone. Rightfully so, i would imagine. I make wagers myself, but ongoing learning is always a beneficial thing. Wanted to ask the top guys how they find their guys or go about choosing such people and if they have ever felt the need or want to mentor or help someone in learning and passing on knowledge? I ask this in a general context, but now living in Las Vegas myself i have wanted to surround myself with people with similar interest and even just becoming a runner or something similar for a more established professional. How would i go about finding the demand for this or establishing myself in that particular culture. I am not looking for anyone's model or system, just further learning. I am not to proud of being an assistant of some kind or running tickets or whatever would be needed. Anyone that feels established enough or has knowledgeable input please leave responses in the thread for others to read. I personally can be PMed for anything as well. Thank you

In my experience, if given the chance almost everyone will steal from you.

im always happy to teach people what i know but 99% of people are too dumb and lazy to even care or try so ive never had a problem with telling too much. if you want to learn just go through the archives and read rsig stuff open up an account on bovada and sportsbook.ag and deposit $500 each and get bonuses.

I hire the best posters here as my runners so continue to contribute and perhaps I'll give you a shot. It's kind of unnecessary in Vegas these days though with all but two of the books that actually take bets now offering virtual apps.

I understand this sentiment and the initial reservations. Can be dealing with alot of money at times. My initial thought as posted was directed to this point and if not a close friend it may be hard to be trusted. Which i find fair and easily understandable. I do know it does become an issue at some point and many professionals have problems getting money down at casinos or need it done quickly. more conveniently, and effectively.

Thank you very much Iowa for the resonse and future consideration. Yes, i agree with the apps now being available. I wil take your advise and continue on the forum. As some have mentioned above i do read alot and take take alot from the the very knowledgeable posters that share any type of advise. Any type of gaming operations, runner, assistant, or anything of sorts i would find valuable. Just working for and along a professional and seeing the slightest subtleties in how they conduct their business i think is invaluable in the long run. Its more of just learning the ins and outs. I would go as to say i would most likely have no problem working for nothing to start. Possibly till i can prove myself in doing an efficient job as well as earning trust. This is all just a general response.

Thank you Iowa, once again.

To MrAdvantage, you may have gotten answer from my additional responses, but i personally wanted to address your question. I, myself, would want to be a runner or similar. The post was written in a general context to provide useful information for anyone. But, yes i am looking for some type of opportunity for myself. Thank you for the response

I think your best shot is to gather as many off screen outs( locals with websites ) and go from there. I maybe off a little, but isn't the job of a runner in Vegas to just sit around a casino all day and wait for a call to put a bet in at the window?

MrAdvantage,
Perhaps you are %100 correct. It may not be the most prestigious, sought after, and glamorous job. This is not really the outlook i want to take. I will try to remain humble and open minded. There are certain steps that need to be taken. Like any job sometimes you have to start from the bottom and work your way up. I have worked in the casino and gaming industry for about 5 years. On both sides of the table and i enjoy the industry. My sports betting needs help and i will continue to learn as much as i can myself. I'm not necessarily even asking for help to be the best sport bettor or help with models etc. It would help and be beneficial obviously, but i would expect to progress in time and wouldn't want a hand out.

If i had the opportunity to help and be around a professional in most gaming fields i would like to position to do so. I find it valuable and not find the work not demeaning or "beneath me". Professional sports bettors also are business people. Something else that deeply interest me. If i can be closer and have a better view of the top of of a profession and all that is needed and goes on i would like that opportunity. I find many facets of the industry very interesting and that i can gain knowledge that can be beneficial in many different ways. All in which i find useful and valuable to learn. Thank you MrAdvantage and also for all the replies from everyone so far. It is very much appreciated.

It seems like u are looking for an Ari Gold -Lloyd type of relationship and that's not going to happen being a runner. They are going to call u, give u a rotation # and hang up. By no means am I insinuating this is beneath u, it just may not provide the insight and experience u are looking for. Good luck and keep us updated please .

You won't learn anything being a runner.

I appreciate all the input and thank all that have contributed so far. I have a better understanding and have learned some things. I will try to remain active and be a contributor on this forum. Still will remain open and see what develops in Vegas pertaining to this. I will also continue to learn more concerning my own sports betting. Thank you

become an agent for a local with a website, get a decent % back (20ish is fine) and have all your dumb degen friends bets with you. Then find a sharp and mix him in as well and get at least 30% of his action weekly. So you make money if your board wins or loses. If you have the time you can parrot his bets too.

These days being a runner is basically "find soft locals that actually pay" right?

yea pretty much. although soft and local are fairly redundant.

Thanks for the ongoing discussion. All of the insightful advice is greatly appreciated. I used a runner as a possible potentiality but as said am open to many things. I enjoy the whole casino/ gaming and sports betting industry in general. I like alot of the alternative you gave. I am from Los Angeles, but now reside in Las Vegas for the most part. Point being, a have dealt with locals etc and can see the upside in what you are saying. I'm sure a lot can be learned from being on that end, assuming the local you are an agent for is someone competent and has a good understanding of the business. Thank you for the response Poogs.

Also, yes i understand what you are saying concerning mixing in a sharp or 2. Maximizing your efforts and collecting on both ends.

This is the worst way to profit based on this setup.

Las Vegas might be the actual worst place in the world to bet sports from right now, other than places where they filter traffic and arrest you for betting or something. There are like three physical books that aren't a total joke and 99% of the time you could still do better than them online. There are some rec physical books that are decent for mobile betting but mobile limits are usually three figures except for NFL where they suck anyway and if you walk in and try to throw down a big bet you will immediately be asked for your players card, your large bet will then be compared to the market and rejected if it is a decent number at all.

Worse is that there doesn't seem to be a local scene here (could be wrong) and online rec books hate Vegas addresses and IPs for obvious reasons.
