Ok, no short notice this season so we can actually do this - up and downs finished today and Kespa seeds are done.

As usual, $100 per team. Teams are to be submitted via PM to me; i'll PM my team to Liveforever and Walchy prior to receiving any teams

Regarding escrow; i'd prefer if someone else trustworthy did it as the prizepool lost something like 50-70 dollars due to exchange rates last season as it was being held partially in AUD and partially in USD but i'll do it if no suitable candidate is available

Player list
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft...eason_5/Code_S

We'll be doing 10 player teams again unless there are any objections with the following format

R32 - 5/4/1/0 pts (depending on finishing place)
R16 6/5/2/0 pts
R8 - 8 pts (winner)
R4 - 11 pts
Final - 15 pts

Any objection to scoring system or suggestions for improvement will be noted; it's a little more late-heavy than previous seasons due to a lot of teams being knocked out of contention after the r32 in previous seasons and people losing the sweat.

Tier 1 (Pick 3) -
Rain, MVP, Life
Symbol, Marineking, Taeja
Seed, Dongraegu

Tier 2 (Pick 3) -
Squirtle, Roro, Hero, Creator, Parting
Bogus, sOs, Leenock

Tier 3 (Pick 2) -

Gumiho, Curious, Maru, Hyun,
Sniper, Polt, BByong, Keen

Tier 4 (Pick 2)
Happy, Yoda
Hack, Finale, Ryung,
Baby, Soulkey, Vampire

I'll give it 24 hours to discuss seedings to make sure no one is horrendously misplaced before we start accepting entries. I originally had 3 categories but felt the picks would be too similar if we went with 3 categories rather than 4. It was tough placing a lot of them - but I figure there should be decent team diversity in any case as it's worth noting if you're the only person with a particular player on your team you have a pretty decent advantage in a top-heavy payout structure (we'll pay either winner take all, or 2 places if we get 15+ runners, or 3 places at 20+ runners)

In the event that there are multiple players left unpicked there may be an additional draft of one additional player.

Do not send escrow funds yet or anything, just express interest in thread please. I have an ANZPT main to play tomorrow but will send a round of PMs to anyone who has entered a team in the past tomorrow night.

Also, no MC or Nestea for Code S... feels weird.

How did the scoring look last time? This looks quite top-heavy. I would be probably be in favor of scaling it back slightly, but it's not a big deal either way. Also, why not pick 3 people for the tier 3 & 4 selections. It creates more team diversity, more sweat, etc.

Last time was 5421 5421 6 8 10 but well over half the teams were mathematically dead after r32

imo, MarineKing too high, Bbyong too high, Sniper too high. I don't know who Bogus or sOs are so maybe I'm wrong but I think Gumiho or Maru or Polt or Hyun might be more deserving of the tier 2 spot.

Ill take a look and split it into 5 tiers maybe. Anyone else with seeding feedback as we obv dont want any player unpicked or in every team as that makes their games irrelevant

I'm fine with people sharing teams if anyone wants to split a team with anyone else under a single buyin. Even someone who already has a team is fine if they want to split a buyin with you.

Haven't sent PMs out yet, will do it later tonight when i'm done playing for the day. Post interest for now if you're planning on participating anyway

Ok, I didn't realise this season is starting tomorrow, two short notice seasons in a row. Guess there isn't enough time to organise a pool properly, so this can become the GSL Code S Season 5 betting analysis thread instead.

Early lines for the first week

Taeja 1.45 vs Finale 2.85
Polt 2.28 vs Parting 1.67

Symbol 2.41 vs Roro 1.60
Hack 1.78 vs Happy 2.10

Maru 2.26 vs Curious 1.67
Hero vs Soulkey currently line is offline

Leaning Symbol (despite Roro being amazing I think it's a flip and I expect them to both get out of the group with the winner taking the group and the loser taking out Hack/Happy to advance)

None of the other lines stand out as amazing, Polt's TvP is good but so is Parting's PvT and while Polt's recent form has been better, Parting did just all-kill IM this week. I usually bet on Parting rather than against him but I wouldn't be too shocked to see Polt get the upset (they're two of my fav players so i'm torn on who to cheer for)

None of the other lines look particularly off

So far, half a unit on Symbol and no other bets (my bet moved him to 2.34, still marginal value imo as I have the true line at close to evens)

HMm I think Maru is even money or even close to favorite v curious. He is a monster. Wasnt polt a beast pvt btw?

polt is good tvp but parting is also one of the best pvters, it's his best matchup

roro and symbol should def get out of the group, ill be betting on the roro/symbol loser against the hack/happy winner almost definitely assuming odds are at all reasonable

Happy > Hack IMO

Hack has more potential of the two but Happy is a more polished player and training with MVP on a daily basis can't hurt, as opposed to Hack's best training partners probably being Bomber and Virus for TvT

A little money has come in on Happy, i'm a bit torn on who I think wins that game, I think the real money will be on the Symbol/Roro loser (especially if they look bad in the loss) against the Hack/Happy loser, and then assuming they win that game and the Symbol/Roro winner wins the group, the money will be on Symbol/Roro again in the final game for 2nd place

Minor money on Polt and Taeja from opening lines last I checked. I really want both Parting and Polt to advance, but that's pretty unlikely given Taeja's recent form and the fact one of them will have go to through the losers game and final game to get through.

Ended up doing a 3-way draft bet with walchy and liveforever, pretty happy with the team I ended up with but not ending up with either Rain or Symbol in my team hurt a little bit. I did get Life, Squirtle and Roro though among others.

Only bet so far is half a unit on Symbol at the opening line of 2.41 (he's since been backed in a bit last I checked), Roro is a monster but so is Symbol and in a high variance ZvZ, take the dog is the rule if it's a flip.

If Finale gets over 3.00 I may make a small play given his recent form combined with thinking Taeja while amazing is slightly overrated (i'd have him top 10 but only just, while I think a few people think he's a top 3-5 player at the moment)

I'll take Parting over Polt if he gets to 1.85 or so or Polt at 2.50 I think but don't really like either side at current prices. I really hope we get to see Parting vs Taeja, that should be an awesome series if it happens.

Weird, Soulkey opens at 1.67 vs Hero's 2.28

I was expecting the odds to be reversed or maybe even more with Soulkey at 2.40ish (I wanted to bet him as a decent dog)

At this price Hero seems like the play though right? Despite the fact Soulkey's really underrated imo, Hero's PvZ is solid.

Rofl they really give hero 2,4 against a seeded player?

Soulkey is good though. That said, Hero should be a small fav id say. Also it's +128, not +140 when I checked.

Adding 0.5u on Hero at 2.28 and 0.5u on Gumiho at 1.80 vs Yoda

Put 0.1u on Polt for the sweat against Taeja at 2.55, wasn't really confident to put more since Taeja is objectively the fav there

Will probably play Polt over Finale if he beats Taeja too depending on odds

Didnt end up betting Polt over Finale since I missed the line, probably would have though. 1-0 Finale, so not looking good, hopefully he can pull it back anyway, want to see Polt make it to r16 at least

Polt's just one of those terrans that I love to watch play. Gumiho is the other one. MKP and MMA can be fun, but can have meh games too, Gumiho and Polt are just never in boring games.

Good comeback by Polt anyway, glad to see Polt and Parting advance today (not only because I have the in my pool team vs liveforever and walchy but also because they're two of my favourites)

Hopefully we can see Symbol and Roro get it done tomorrow.
