re: SBR Discussion Thread (SportsBookReview / SBRForum)

Future tip to the wise:

When a new book comes along and has a guy running it who looks "Jon" on the right, have some common sense and ask yourself wtf should make you feel good about sending this guy money like your money is safe and you're dealing with an upstanding guy. That picture alone has me shaking my head that I had seen it before, and gladly trusted this book and ran up a now high balance of monopoly money.

re: SBR Discussion Thread (SportsBookReview / SBRForum)

Not sure what you guys are talking about, he writes horrible imo

I was thinking based on his tattoo, maybe he'd die before stiffing players?

But now with CS confirming Jon was $4.50 per hour Youwager employee in 2005, I guess it's not likely.

Sorry guys I knew this part, as pm to microbob before I was posting much here indicated, that Jon is a fictional SBR character just at the time didn't know it was as serious.

He's no Shakespeare, but he's not illiterate either. Maybe my judgment is just clouded after having to sift through so many of the usual SBR posts before I see a complete sentence.

Bill Dozer doesn't know jack.

If you want to know the details of the comapny, you can go higher up the ladder to the book's that have been there 10 years all the way to public companies like bet365 instead of books that opened in 2011. Everyone can see the timeline of a book whether you agree with SBR ratings or not and choose what risk factors are important to you. In fact, when BI hit its ceiling for a newer book at B, many of the posters who are angry with SBRforum now argued that they should have been rated higher because of how their experience was.

When there is a problem with a book sponsor or in this case, a closure, everyone feels very badly. We try to react quickly without taking chances. There are even staff family and friends who aren't necessarily posting but are often playing along. Anyone who has been around here a while knows it's not just a business at SBRforum and it's about the community as much as anything. We don't just sell impressions to gaming sites who ask. Internally SBRforum discussed how we could avoid this in the future. While I can't say BI was overrated at B at the time, we'll require more years online before a banner at the top can be there. It doesn't help players here but these are the type of things considered as we read each of the posts.

As mentioned BIs backing was no longer... backing. There wasn't a contingency plan for them as we were told early on and some things went on behind the scenes before we had knowledge of the resulting issues. Jon had apparently been visiting every book he knew to get players to land on their feet without a personal interest in what happened. He eventually thought he did and SBR agreed based on information available. One of the owners of a book with assets and the money to make it work had stepped forward. Their upside was to keep an established brand that players really liked and build on it. We are still not 100% clear on what occurred but this arrangement came undone and BI is back in the position it would have been had backer #2 not been introduced.
I had to LOL @ Public companies like Bet365. The CEO of the perceived top authority on sportsbooks doesn't know Bet365 is a private company? I mean its not even relevant just funny and reflects his industry knowledge. I would wager you could team every person at SBR together and give us an industry quiz test on anything a global audience wanted to know regarding betting sites and I'd outscore the entire team combined myself. They'd beat me on the Costa Rica books if allowed to give honest answers.

So the rest of his post is BetIslands was rated B and we're not sure what happened? Bill true or not: Approximately 80% of BetIslands player base came from SBR? true or not, Bill? Fill me in.

re: SBR Discussion Thread (SportsBookReview / SBRForum)

LOL - I don't though I could actually feel bad for Jon. He was a $4.50/h YouWager clerk and got to play owner for a while and is now taking the fall. The guy probably didn't know the books he was acting for were going to go stiff job.

Dear 7Red customers,,

7Red's operations have no affiliation with Betislands and has in no way been affected by their recently announced collapse. It is business as usual at 7Red. Wagers are being accepted and payouts are being processed quickly and professionally. As with many things related to Betislands word of our merger by Jon was riddled with half-truths and grossly exaggerated. Betislands and Jon approached us about a potential merger but as you can see he had no money to run his business let alone buy ours. We will be here as always to support our customers and do everything possible to make you proud to say you do business with 7Red.

Sincerely,

This 7Red news is lol though. Obviously be very careful of them and EZStreet.

soooo, prop is very, very smart regarding the gambling industry, but is giving us all (interesting) info after the **** hit the fan.

i mean, i guess i appreciate the knowledge after the fact, but what the **** bro. you have been a mod here long enough, and posted about hating sbr since day 1, and you didn't give anyone here 1 piece of a headsup.

by all means keep posting the inside scoop (who are you anyways? to have all this inside info) but realize that every time you say, 'oh i knew this a long time ago', you're pissing people here off.

re: SBR Discussion Thread (SportsBookReview / SBRForum)

The way I just calculated it, con man Walker and con man Dozer just offered hedge hog $430 give or take (in SBR points no less) for his 10k loss. I lost just over 9k and I find this to be a total slap in the face of an offer after all the money they made pimping this **** book when players are out an estimated 1.5 million as a result. From what you can read today, every book and everybody in the gaming industry in Costa Rica knew about this coming and how non financially stable they were all along. How can sbr be located down there and post the **** they did today and the past 3 years with a straight face?? Guess the money makes it completely easy

Time to update that FAQ prop. I know you'll do a good job

Yeah I see now. At least people have some sense of humor.

You don't happen to know anybody in Colombia who can make up trip up there and plant a few kilos of Colombian yayo in Walker's home or something like that do you?

If I knew players fund were at risk I'd be first to warn.

One of first time I ever mentioned BetIsland on this forum was here and note the part in bold.

I question at bankroll you're talking when just using two books if 5Dimes/Bovada might be a better combo. Bovada has some decent props, and has off market prices more often, and some okay spots on teasers too.

The other option would be bonus whoring for a bit if you've never done so in the past. Can work sites like Justbet and YouWager for bonuses both which are fine and pay. Then the lower tier books like 1VICE, WagerWeb, SBGGlobal, have to be really careful with but likely won't have a problem or too many slow pays with the limits your talking (is mostly APs that run into problems with say WagerWeb, and we're talking for higher amounts). Is worth a shot bonus whoring but not running up large balances with those type of books.

This response assumes you're in the US. Eventually when bankroll is enough that splitting between several sites is easier I'd keep 5Dimes/Bovada and at least a bet or two in Bookmaker. I'd probably also mix in Heritage and BetIslands (be a little more careful with BI imo, they are not well proven yet and I think are like a 5 employee sportsbook but not sure) when can expand to 5 sites, and then with the others just do some bonuses when getting offers.

If mostly a recreational player then 5Dimes/Bovada probably serves you well. Only bet at Bovada when the price is better than 5Dimes. A recreational player probably doesn't lose much not having bookmaker. Even starting out that's probably a good combo. Also there other options I didn't mention here. In fact I might even do Legends before Bookmaker because Legends has a bigger bonus. They are a full-vig book too, but at least a bonus and better 2-team teaser odds (though pretty much negated due to their shades).

If you're outside the US ignore all this advice and tell me sports you bet and preference and I'll give you much different advice.
Also in this same thread I already covered the 7RedSports spin aspect of BetIslands. The only time I knew they were in financial trouble was 5 or 6 days ago and payouts already stopped at that point.

I knew Jon was basically a character but didn't know there was harm over that. Just in case this helps:

* Ron Sacco did not start BetCRIS
* Clive Archer was only ever a figure head
* Dave Johnson was not the owner of WagerWeb.
* Simon Noble was not the CEO of PinnacleSports
* 5Dimes was not Tony's first sportsbook.
* Tony's name is not Tony Williams
* Mickey's name is not Mickey
* LOL @ Bodog Indians

That's just a few items I can quickly think of. I learned BetIslands was insolvent after it was too late. I did mention several times various places to be careful of them, but didn't really think it was anywhere near a code red or even code orange risk.

Start with Atlanta Georgia imo, never know who's going to turn in Columbia

All I can do is try and laugh. Sbr tops this off by upgrading Wagerweb to a C- today

And is it just me having problems or is this normal when an sbr book fails, because I can't read any thread page by page, it's just first page to last page viewing?

Just started a thread titled "who will be sbr's next affiliate scam?". Everybody should go put in their nomination before Walker or Dozer deletes it and bans me

I woke up to get message database was leaked at AskTheBookie. I have no association with that site but just helped as a volunteer doing rewrites and edits. In case anyone already read it, might want to return, it is a bit more detailed and coherent now.

Maybe you should replace SBR in the FAQ with your ratings site prop.
