Wow microbob sure is an awesome mod. You have a victim and a crook and he chooses the pile on the victim. I wonder if he runs up to old women who get mugged and screams at them that it's their own fault for being so damn senile and dumb
06-01-2012 , 09:57 AM
I haven't piled on anyone.

If the woman told me that I told her to go do business with the mugger and then insisted I definitely said that then yeah, I would probably tell them that I never said that.

Have the urge to point out yet again that the biggest loser out of this is Wiper. He gets pwned being the judge spending god knows how many hours dealing with this debacle and doubly so with the forums going down. As of now he is on target to receive $0, but if Poogs actually pays he will then stand to receive the handsome reward of $50 for your troubles!!!!!!! I'd take up a collection for Wiper before Chronic imo.

Leave it to Bob to play the "I told you so" card. If I ever had a stepfather, he would be like -800 to be just like Bob. Run bad.

JD: You gotta run hot in some facet of life, somewhere. No matter how small a victory, take solace in it.

I feel the exact opposite. This whole thing has been awesome. Poogs rapes someone in this thread and none other than Alan Dyer comes along. That is some sick rape-dar.

BookieBuddy managed to pull off multiple scams? Surely Poogs should never be scammed as he has ranted multiple times about being a know-it-all when it comes to gambling with locals. Something must not be right.
I agree with you, this forum is pretty boring, needed some drama like this, I can't get enough.

came here to check out the mma stuff since junkie was down, and the starcraft 2 betting amused me. then i read the poogs thread.

i've kind of realized maybe i did date rape a girl or two, so i'd like to apologize for that. just cuz a girl isn't calling the cops and trying to stab you, doesn't mean it isn't date rape.

i'd make a thread apologizing for it but better to let sleeping dogs lie imo.
i did post an apologetic comment in my searching for roomate thread!

cheers and gl to you.

edit: lol @ microbob for saying he wouldn't ban over a 1000$ scam. i've been banned on 2+2 for way way way way way less stuff before, and i'm sure this account would be banned too if it wasn't mildly famous.
06-01-2012 , 12:10 PM
Love how the diehards are trying to make Bob out to be the REAL villain in the thread.
06-01-2012 , 12:19 PM
To be fair, I am pretty sure Bob suffers from hypergraphia.
06-01-2012 , 12:42 PM
Hypergraphia is an overwhelming urge to write. It is not itself a disorder, but can be associated with temporal lobe changes in epilepsy and mania in the context of bipolar disorder.

Right on!
TOMG 2012

Maybe something could come out of this thread

Huh?

I really have to quote myself from just a few posts above yours?

Quote:
If he is proven to be a scammer then I guess a ban can be considered although I don't think that is a typical course of action in such situations. Generally a lot of them just don't return anyway so it isn't necessary.

Saying that I would consider it is not the same as saying I would not ban.

I haven't dealt directly with scam/ban-type stuff on 2+2 as other mods. So if this poogs thing goes on longer then I would likely consult with other mods to see what the current line of thinking is on this type of stuff and would consider it.

What I've seen from just surfing around before is that some of the scammer types are specifically NOT banned by mods simply because it is easier for the person who got scammed to still have that line of communication to give them that chance that they still might be paid eventually. Doesn't happen with many scammers of course. But the idea is that you don't like to shut the line off for the one person who actually might have gotten paid back. (that aspect is probably not as relevant here since poogs and chronic have each other's email).

There are different types of scammers also of course. Those who are on here specifically to get into the different transfer threads with perhaps full intentions of scamming. And those like poogs where the intentions might not have been so clear and they ended up doing a scammy type thing in the end.

Welching on a bet...or just hemming and hawing on the payment that wasn't escrowed...is perhaps something to handle a bit differently than the transfer-thread scammers. Maybe it isn't though. I'm not entirely sure.

I'm not making these rules myself. I'm pretty much going by other mods who are really in tune with how this stuff is done on here and they have their own logic.

Banning poogs now would be ridiculous. Banning him in 5 months if he hasn't paid can be considered (as I said) but if he hasn't even returned to 2+2 and/or isn't trying to scam others then there isn't much point to a ban.

And I don't think any of the mods would jump in to contact poogs directly to say, "hey, I know you told chronic you were going to pay. But I wanted to ask you as well...are you going to pay?" But again, perhaps I am incorrect on that as I don't follow scam-stuff elsewhere on this site all that closely.

Interesting. You might be onto something! Although fwiw I'm also a talkative guy in real life, and I feel like posting in a forum like this is more similar to conversation than wanting to write some big novel or something.

If I were SB forum mod I would handle the CHRONICFEVER/Poogs situation in this way:

- Criticize Poogs publicly
- Not send/respond to any PM's
- Not ban anyone

Vote for TomG 2012

haha
no need to ban poogs tbh
banning a scammer on 2p2 isnt gonna do much especially if the person has been outed already...

Well, I did 2 out of 3. I received a couple of PM's early-on in this whole thing and I actually did respond to them. Seemed the right thing to do at the time.

Worst forum post ever. Girl or two?

Thanks for clearing up the whole date rape thing. I'm sure you think it's a good idea to let sleeping dogs lie, she/they might be having trouble but whatever.

Now that you apologized to a bunch of dudes in a housing thread on a poker strategy site your conscience should be clear.
06-01-2012 , 02:34 PM
imo: MB has always come off as someone who can never be wrong, and if it's overwhelming (extremely overwhelming) he goes the 'okay let's just move on' route.

the excessive, 8 paragraph responses to one item reinforces that every time.
06-01-2012 , 02:45 PM
Wiper - I said I would consider banning him. And Alan replies, "you won't ban him? Hahaha."

So I provided some explanation as to how some of the spam-ban logic works on 2+2 and my thoughts on it since multiple people brought it up. And that's a bad thing?
06-01-2012 , 03:55 PM
nah not specifically that, just in general. you defend yourself a lot it seems. probably a bit of observational bias on my part, but I just feel like YOU feel like you're never wrong and on the rare occasion when you are, you're moody about moving on.

maybe moody is too harsh, you're pretty even-keeled. anxious to move on might be the better word.

wasn't specifically about anything, I just feel like I notice that about you. you're a broadcaster, your opinion doesn't ever get challenged. I'm the same way a bit in being a teacher, if I wanna talk I get the floor and if I wanna be right, i can. lol

you're like that.
06-01-2012 , 04:07 PM
wiper - If you have nothing specific about the discussion in this thread then this seems an odd place to be bringing up whatever general observations you have on me imo. I have some opinions of you as well but have never really felt terribly inclined to share them.

A bet was made.

Both parties agreed to the bet.

No escrow was made as both are trusted on the site (i don't know either one but I assume this is the case?**)

Bet was won but the guy that lost tried to get out of it for $300 instead of the original $1k.

The guy that won refused and wants paid fully to which the loser refuses and still offers the $300.

In the end the loser gives up and says he will pay

Loser doesn't respond for weeks and hasn't made payment.

Microbob appears and tries to blame the winner for not getting paid because he didn't escrow.

Amazing

** if this isn't the case then yes it was stupid for not escrowing. Ignore the rest of the post!
06-01-2012 , 04:40 PM
That was not the case. They had absolutely agreed to escrow. But poogs never did.

I was initially approached about being their escrow for this but decided it was best not to do it. They found somebody else and poogs never sent while chronic evidently did.

Chronic said several times over and over to poogs that he needs to escrow immediately and "what's the hold up?" Etc.

This is 2012, not 1220. Nobody has the right to be angry at the victim of wire fraud. I imagine the victim of wire fraud would have liked to not be the victim of wire fraud, and there were methods that would help reduce the odds of him being the victim of wire fraud, yes, but that he was the victim of wire fraud in this day and age is not something to blame him for. You don't blame the victim of a crime for not taking precautions against being the victim of a crime. In summation:

I like saying wire fraud. ^_^

Also, POOGS seems to have welched on a bet. This, sadly, is how sportsbooks get to charge nickel juice. Good job POOGS, you increased the juice for everybody. *golfclap*

Maybe we need a dedicated 'Bash MicroBob' containment thread for all the criticism. It's starting to cause a lot of clutter in this thread, and I feel like even more is coming once tukkk starts to plead his case.

I'll stick to using the chatter thread for it for now.
06-01-2012 , 05:39 PM
We already have one in ATF here
I should probably pm the mod in that forum and change the thread title in ATF
Someone should bump that thread and suggest the change
