I believe so (not sure about Saturday games but prolly same stuff), make the Pool harder that's for sure.

Somebody can pocket some good coins by Week 10 or even earlier, by the look of it.

I'm going with Houston this week.

With the bloodbath over the last two weeks, saving teams for the final weeks of the season (Houston plays IND, MIN, @IND in weeks 15-17) becomes less important. Lots of people who've made it this far have already used Houston, making them a better pick than the hugely-popular Baltimore.

Atlanta and Green Bay look like they might be needed in future weeks (week 6 vs. OAK and week 8 vs. JAX), so I'll pass on them for now. Denver looks decent as they don't have much future value, so I'll hop on the Broncos in pools where I have multiple entries.

Teams used: Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Dallas, Houston

Look like everyone is moving on this week (well almost as Miami is still leading Arizona)

I took Denver and fingers crossed but they are off to a healthy lead.

Quick look at Week 5 and seem like Minny and/or San Fran will be on the radar.

New York Giants look to be the best pick by far. Home to Cleveland.

Yes I didn't mention the Giants because nobody in my pool has picked them so I imagine a good majority of survivors will be on the G-men. Not that there is anything wrong with that (considering the Giants doesn't have much of future value) but if you are looking to create some separation, you have to take this into account.

Giants will be the popular pick this week.

Kinda like the saints for separation pick.

Can't we assume a lot of people blew the Giants against the Bucs though?

ya my pools have some giants pickers. not that many though. and given that nearly 40% of yahoo is picking them i think that shows lots of people still have them remaining.

i'm scared to pick giants week 5 though. busted from my survivor pool last year when they lost to the seahawks.

Skated through with Ariz (2x), Den (2x), Hou & Baltimore....I have 6 entries alive across 3 pools. Rebuys allowed in two of them up to week 6 so strategy is obviously different having option to buy back in. Will take risky pick and mentally be ok if they lose. Either way, win or lose I have saved a good team for later in the year. Like NYG and Cinn in main pool. Leaning towards Carolina and Minn in buy back pool. I generally stay away from road games in these pools in the past and it has served me well.

Just curious about others Survivor Pools. I'm in a huge pool (3000 entries x $30). Would love to win it but honestly would be nervous as heck as to how to handle tax of $90k winnings lol. The pool director for this one cuts it off after week 17 so it almosts always get chopped a few ways. The other thing this Pool director does is posts winners name on the site. I'd feel a little nervous if I won big and had name plastered on his site. So couple curious questions:

1. How would most handle if they won good amount, let's say over $20,000 from a tax perspective? If $20k is too small, etc - what amount do you even consider how to pay taxes on it. My pool is big but got to thinking about the other pool in this thread that had 900+ @ $200 a pop. That's a lot of white russians for the dude.

2. How do your pool directors handle their payment for running the pool? I'm in a couple by a couple different guys and they each handle it differently. One collects 7% for running it and makes it known head of time and the other takes nothing but "encourages" a gratuity for running all the pools (he runs a bunch) and says 10% is generally the norm. I've not cashed in his but I don't think I'd have an issue with a 10% gratuity.

Just curious about others -

I am also looking at the Giants but a couple of things to keep in mind

- The Giants tend to play down to the level of their competition. They are also having some pretty significant injuries (Phillips and Nicks are both doutbful)

- The Browns is still looking for their first win and they have been competitive in all games this season (except for the Bills game where they shot themselves in the foot with INTs and dropped passes).

Not saying the Browns will win outright but I believe this one will be closer than the current spread of -9.5 for the G-men.

Picking up Minnesota this week. My league gives points based on how much your team scores when they win. Knowing that, Tennessee has given up the most points of any team in the league thus far, and Minnesota seems to be the only Top 17 team (2p2 power ranking) without significantly better value in later weeks.

Juice of any kind on NFL Survivor pools is absurd. There are so many leagues out there, go find a new one next year.

Says 10% is generally the norm. Get the **** out of here. That's worse than the tip hounds after cashing in a big poker tournament at a casino.

Barden has filled in just fine for Nicks. No loss of production there.

If you think the Browns are a good bet to keep it close, you should be betting on them to cover, not avoiding the Giants in survivor pools. There aren't many survivor picks out there as good as this one -- Cleveland is horrible, New York is elite and has absolutely no future value. The only knock against them this week is that they will be extremely popular, although this does vary by each individual pool.

Tip: take the Giants as your survivor pick, and take the Browns to cover on a side bet. If Giants blow them away, you're happy because you're on to the next week. If the Browns happen to win outright, you're gone from your survivor pools, but at least you have some cash in your pocket. If the Giants win in a nailbiter, you've middled it -- both bets win.

If you want to play in a pool with more than 100 people, you're going to have to pay juice. What's the incentive to run a 10k, 30k, 100k pool and not get anything out of it. If you're in any like this that don't charge vig, tell me about them and I'll pay you 5% vig for each one that I play in.

Locked in Minnesota this week. I can win the pool outright if NYG loses and Minny wins.

My pool was 100 people on the nose $50 buy in and dude who ran it took 5% vig.

Good point, kid. That is what I may just end up doing. Still got time to dissect the other games.

Just a FYI, Barden had a concussion and he is questionable for this game. It will have to be up to Cruz, Hixon and Co. to get the points for Eli.
