Ouch, I'm out, but almost half of our remaining pool got knocked out this week too:

IND (41)
CIN (20)
BAL (19)
NO (16)
SD (14)

ATL (8)
DAL (7)
JAX (2)

Good luck going forward to all who remain!

Tough day yesterday fellas, sad to see you guys bowing out at this juncture but we have to move on.

For Week 6, it will either be Pitt or Giants for me.

Had Indy and Blt in my 2 slots and literally every other conceivable option lost.

I'm in a pool with around 100 players and I bet 80+% of them just bit it.

My 13 man pool is over. SD and CIN got everyone.

49/101 remaining in one.
122/309 remaining in another.

Second one is surprising since they let you rebuy if you lose week 1 (46 people)

So I apparently got a second lease on life. Friday afternoon I did select Cincinatti but I failed to click the "submit pick" button at the bottom of the screen and I just X'd out of the browser. Pool rules state if you do not pick you get auto picked the highest spread of a team you have not previously chosen. I got auto picked Indy and did not even know it until about 2am last night.

It's baffling how people choose some of their teams. The basic rules of survivor should be quite simple. My league has about 1/2 of the original 19 left.

Giants for me this week, and I think a lot of people are on Pittsburgh. Who knows how Big Ben looks in his first game action in months? I like the G-Men.

I'm taking the Giants too 'cause they have fewer easy games left, though I think they're less of a lock. Colt McCoy on the road vs. an elite defense - that's not going to happen; doesn't really matter how rusty Big Rape is.

My survivor has about 750 out of 9700 left. Thinking about selling my sole remaining pick at a huge profit.

Why would anybody buy your pick at that stage? Maybe when there are 50 people left, or even 150 people left, but 750? That's almost certainly going to be chopped up in Week 17. Really, the only time I would consider buying someone's spot would be if it goes into the playoffs and you had used the Browns, Lions, Rams, Raiders and Jaguars or something.

Slightly different type of survivor - you can use the same team every week if you want, but there are games where you cannot make a pick:

Week 1 & 2: no restrictions
3 & 4: game with largest spread restricted
5 & 6: 2 games restricted
7 & 8: 3 games restricted
9 through 17: 4 games restricted

And the pool goes all the way until the Super Bowl, winner take all (unless multiple people left). First prize this year is 190K. $20 a pick at the beginning of the season, they're now going for $300-$400.

I've always wondered how/why somebody would run a pool that big. It seems like a huge liability if you happen to get audited by the IRS.

Yeah, I have no idea how the person does it, especially since most pay by check. Apparently the prize is awarded using a combination of checks, cash, etc., but I don't personally know the person who runs the pool.

I used Giants week 1 so they are out, I'm going Pittsburgh this week. I do not care the public is going to be on them, no other game is really appealing enough.

(9700*20)/750 = $258.67. Funny how much over expected value people would pay.

True, but people want back in/another shot at 190K, so they'll pay more. Especially since there are only about 10 people selling picks at the moment.
