? i'm serious. not to turn this into SE but

what do the jets have that the lions don't on the offensive side

stafford > sanchez
any of detroits WR > jets WR
jets probably have better RBs but if you're going to run every play they'll just stack the box and it won't be as effective. jahiv best is pretty good for detroit though
jets have a better o line but they need to fill that missing fanaca spot

lions d line is pretty good thanks to years of top draft picks.

jets are really the most over rated team in a long time

You don't usually cap, do you? Are you betting DET heavy every game? Or against NYJ every game? Just curious.

depends on the sport not football

yes on det and against nyj at least until everyone realizes jets are horrible which is already happening ("super bowl contenders" underdogs at home in week 2??)

also bet heavy on rsw under jets and over det

Not buying into the Lions hype. Every year this team is supposed to improve.

sig, if you want to take the Brownies this week at home then why not consider Oakland?

Last year they improved infinity percent. what more could you possibly want?

True, people don't need to take the Eagles at all in Survivor Pool this year but you can make the same arguments on any given week against any given team.

The Eagles also just came off a loss (same with the Lions mind you) so I don't think there would be any letdown or look-ahead factor.

I agree with you the Eagles this year is not as good as in the past. I also think they are better than the Lions without Stafford and provide an alternative for Week 2 outside of the usual suspects.
So even though you realize the Eagles are a mediocre team that you do not need to use for the entire season you still want to take them because 'it is the best spot all year'??? Has it occurred to you that they may not even be one of the top 17 teams in the league? Remember, they opened at -3 with the Detroit QB situation known.

As for letdowns and look aheads...in the NFL in week 2? LOL

Ah, the old *take the best team* approach. Was it the Eagles that knock you out last year bud?

I'm not advocating anything other than not taking mediocre (at best) teams on the road when there are far better selections (that's plural as in more than one) available.

As for Philly knocking me out last year, no,that would be the Jets at home to Carolina in week 10.

I'm a square and don't know much about the NFL.

I was thinking of taking the Saints in week 1. They are 13 point favorites over the Lions. The other 13 point spread differential is the Ravens over the Chiefs. I figure the Ravens are probably a better overall team and more worthy of saving for later weeks.

Is this fine for week 1?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Is this from a sportsbook? I want to get into one also... or is it too late as we are now in week 2.

Let me know.. it sounds fun and challenging!

call me crazy but...

1) meh the cowboys always scare the **** out of me
2) meh this packers team looks pretty damn good but I still don't feel compelled to save them (this is the way I felt about the Saints last year, funny enough)

I'll pick another week to differentiate. About 1/3 of my 40 person pool is already out so I will keep it simple for now. Hard to plan ahead in the first few weeks anyhow.

I'm not taking the Packers this week. There's going to be way too many people on them. Much better to sacrifice a little bit in win probability by picking a lower spread game and getting on a team that is picked by proportionately way less people.

Chargers and Cowboys look like solid picks for me this week, haven't decided which way I want to go just yet.

sportsbooks don't run them. gotta make one with a group of friends. you could prob enter a free one on yahoo too. there's ones run every year for different $ amounts here, so have a look prior to the start of next season.

There are tons of survivor/suicide pools every year. What I did was I set up these keyword alerts on Google and receive email notifications everyday...I don't enter all pools but rather choose the ones that I like the rules and payout...

doubling up on PHI in my big league

interesting rule in place where you have to make 2 picks in weeks 5, 10 and 15. so you need to make 20 picks this year.

PHI is a top 20 team and this is a great spot. 1 time somebody (GB likely to be the popular pick if people are on level 1) run bad and a big chunk of the league is out.

Lol @ taking the Cowboys who couldn't beat the f Redskins last week.

Green Bay is the only pick this week imo.

Look good.

Shaun Hill had a solid D in San Fran to back him up, not so much in Detroit. I see Trent Cole and Brandon Graham in the backfield all day long tomorrow.

Don't see how name calling is warranted, but ok. All I'm saying is that seeing the mess of a game that that team put together last week I wouldn't bet on them to win anything.
