I have 42 entries across 14 pools costing $3775 in buy-ins that work as pick once per week and survivors paid after week 17. All 42 entries I put on Saints. I am almost never on the biggest favorites or all my entries at risk this early in season, this week is an exception. If could anticipate Saints being selected by <50% despite being the play many squares would be on, IMO it is the best pick.

I'm have an additional 38 entries costing only $452 that are different. In these the pool size is MASSIVE (over 10,000 players in each) and double picks are required late in season. I don't care about these too much thus I'm on Miami in all of those. My equity is nothing to get excited about. If I cared about the stake I'd divide them up with Steelers. Really I just don't want to manage these if they lose, rather take one team and then play them later if have stakes I care about become involved.

I'm not holding on to much hope of that. I had Buccs +11 -125 posted in the picks thread. Added second half +6 and 2nd half +3 +166.

My two high stakes pools 100% of picks are on Saints & Colts, so life support but not dead yet with a loss here on those.

Why did you think they were such a strong survivor pick, despite knowing 50% of entries would have them, and thinking the Bucs were the right side against the spread? This is my first year doing survivor so I'm genuinely curious.

A pick like the Colts you'll have in a future week when also no one is on them. Also are selected higher than average. The 5BTC buy-in (about $1240) US the 5 others were 3 Saints / 2 Colts. In $1000 buy-in I'm in other 7 were 3 Colts / 4 Saints. Knowing that I might have been more likely to pick someone else, but Colts I'm surprised more people didn't avoid. In the big pools was 40% ish Saints in most.

The Saints were biggest favorite this week, but it was rare situation. There's a considerable chance are never going to use them again. There are win spots later with anyone would consider taking. Except Miami but need some risk tolerance to go there.

Looks like everyone on the Bucs has the Saints in their pools.

Lost 49% of the field (38% on Saints) in the massive pools already. See if I go out with the blood bath with Miami.

Didn't get to watch any of the game, but I assume the Saints are 100% trash or Brees is dead. Or both. Either way, lots of people out. Only useful to me if Ravens and Fish try to not lose.

That was about the most brutal week I've seen in survivor pools.

We lost 1165 in our main pool, with 276 safe, and 220 left to decide tonite & tomorrow. It's gonna be well over 70% elimination of the entries coming into the week.

Our $40 pool (no repeat teams) with 195 entries only has 26 safe, and 19 tbd.

So yeah, I expect there will be lots of 2nd chance pools crop up. I'll have to see if Wubba is up for running another one this year.

Here's numbers from a few other pools hosted on our site

total entries/alive/tbd
358/21/37 (this is the WC pool also offered on 2+2)
106/8/9
85/10/8
37/4/3
524/79/60
116/15/10

just brutal

If the Colts can win tomorrow, this will be an all around excellent week. I lost a couple of rebuy pool entries on the Dolphins/Saints (no big deal, since almost everyone else should be rebuying), but I was otherwise on the Steelers and Colts with my remaining picks.

I'm also interested in any second-chance pools, please let me know if you are aware of any starting up.

In order of ascending value of my pools I was:
Carolina, Miami, Pitts, Balt, Pitts.

Not happy with the eliminations, but still a +ev week
