Some rumors about Rhonda vs Carano. My best guess is this is what Rogan is referring to rather than cyborg

Doubt Carano will say yes to this. She'll demand at least a couple mill for a fight vs Ronda which Zuffa might not agree to.

+1 to definitely go to a live card, i've been to 5 now I think, well worth going if you get a chance

Carano vs Rousey would sell nicely with Carano being the biggest face in WMMA history and Rousey being the biggest heel in WMMA history. That said, i'd imagine Carano would want PPV points to come back given she's incredibly unlikely to beat Rousey and would have to commit to a full time training schedule etc. as champ as i'd imagine the UFC would want their champ to be active on the off chance Carano actually won the fight

Seems more likely that the announcement will be Carano than Cyborg.

Have no interest in watching Carano fight Ronda though. If not Cyborg/Zigano, Just do Davis. Davis probably has a better shot than Zigano does anyways.

I'm okay with Carano/Rousey if they can't get Cyborg simply because Davis hasn't looked impressive enough in victory and Zingano probably won't be ready in time with the injury/mourning her husband. Carano did better against Cyborg than most, she's big, well rounded and while I doubt anyone other than Cyborg is live against Rousey at this stage she at least poses a more credible threat than Davis and Zingano - I mean, Zingano was losing to Tate before getting an iffy stoppage and we saw Rousey dismantle Tate twice, I can't imagine anyone seriously thinking Zingano would win here especially coming off an injury, layoff and personal problems

Carnao also hasn't fought in 5 years, and has had trouble making 145 pounds.

Davis has the best BJJ in the division. Considering Ronda's BJJ has been the only area she has shown any flaws (back taken vs Liz and meisha) it would seem Davis is the only threat to the belt outside of cyborg.

ya i been hearing carano too but i thought it was pretty much already determined there is 0 chance carano can get down to 135 which is why i assumed it had to b cyborg, but who knows maybe wit dolce she can somehow make the weight

looks like jds vs stipe will b the co-main of weidman/machida
MMA Thread Quote

JDS is beyond a lock there, Stipe is getting knocked out 80% of the time and losing the decision an additional 10%+ of the time there.

Will be on JDS to at least -400 and probably even beyond that. I mean, Struve knocked Miocic out, he only beat Gonzaga once his cardio went (and JDS while not having Cain level cardio does have above average cardio for HW) and I mean, Miocic can't take Cain down and he can't outstrike him and JDS has such a phenomenal chin and Miocic doesn't...

I think i'd cap this at like -700 for JDS and the only reason it isn't higher is that anything can happen at HW

Best case scenario for Miocic is that it looks like JDS/Hunt imo in that it's a competitive one sided fight. Unless JDS' chin or confidence is ruined after the Cain 3 fight he has this.

which is bigger in kilograms, pounds or caranos?

The only concerne I have when it comes to JDS Stipe is how many fighting mileage Cain took out of JDS. The beatings he took must have advanced his age at least a couple of years. Meh, even then, he will demolish Stipe. Especially since Stipe has shown poor head movement in the past, he's done a lot better these days, but still it leaves a lot to be desired. Cardio shouldn't be any issue, either way. JDS does tend to gas a bit after first depending on the type of matchup. I'd say he has above average cardio in the HW division because the average in the HW is astonishingly low.

This for sure. Has to be experienced.

This is legit. Still young, but man oh man, has he been through some hellacious beatings.

Anybody else excited to get Michael Johnson possibly as a dog to Guillard?

Does anyone see Lawler having a chance against Bigg Rigg?

Have only seen Lawler against McDonald and I wasn't impressed. Seeing how BR outwrestled GSP I'd say he would be dictating the fight easily. Am I way off here?

As much as i'm not a 'Hendricks greatest ever' type believer I do think he beats Lawler barring random punchers chance

I want to see Hendricks vs Kim and Condit in 5 rounders. Also Hendricks vs Erick Silva if he can string some wins together

Yes think Johnson is the more technical fighter here, will be interesting to see where the lines end up.

It would make Dana look like an idiot (because it makes his Cyborg argument utterly redundant) but he won't care because Carano v Rousey would prolly do 1.5m PPV buys.

I also wouldn't mind because Gina gives me the horn.

Rousey/Carano alone isn't doing 1.5m buys

To even have a chance to do 1.5m buys in the current market a card would need to look something like Jones/Gus 2 or Jones/Cain, Weidman/Machida or Belfort, Cruz/Barao, Rousey vs Carano, GSP vs Anderson and a Lesnar return

Lines just released

I think I like Gustafsson ITD, will probably like Guillard/Johnson doesn't go the distance, might like Pickett ITD, might take Latifi if price keeps rising

Doesn't seem to be the best card for betting overall

Anyone excited about this fight & line

Omari Akhmedov vs Gunnar Nelson
??

Delrome -130 vs Davey Grant? I mean, sure Grant was well liked on TUF, but did he show and signs of being a half decent fighter? Not sure what stops Delrome from dragging him to the ground and winning via sub or dominant 30-27.

Also liking Neil Seery at +400. Pickett hasn't looked good in a long time, and at 35, that isn't about to change.

Araujo, and Akhmedov seem to have value as well.

Which side? Omari? Gunnar's pretty good

I like Delorme vs Grant outside of the UK but I feel like Grant will lift for his home crowd so might stay away even though objectively I like Delorme at that price

Seery has a 13-9 record vs mostly random semi cans and outright cans and 0 wins over UFC caliber fighters. He's not beating Brad Pickett who is actually an upper mid level UFC fighter

Omari look good imo for this fight + good line. Gunnar has won in MMA to nobodies and seems only as an elite grapler but usually they cant take a good punch. Omari KO!!!!

Finally we can put this Matt Brown talk to rest. -300 Silva
Yet another attempt by the "inner workings" of the UFC to deprive a real fighter, minus the gimmicks, to ascend to the top of the division.

Instead we all get to watch another pretty boy get his ass handed to him via a 1st or 2nd round TKO by the greatest WW in the business.

Lets look at some facts.

Eric Silva- Has only fought 2 top 10 fighters in his life. Fitch and Kim. Against Fitch he was just man-handled and its also possible that Fitch was already on his decline as his later performances showed.

Kim- Both fighters were gassing and showing poor form until Kim put the kid to sleep.

Matt Brown- Every single one of his losses was due to submission. Never a TKO loss. The odd loss that came due to decision was due to being held down as his wrestling hadn't come to fruition. This was all years ago. He's being KO'ing anyone they put in front of him and never getting a chance to fight top level guys. Look at Pyle in his last performance and then compare Pyle to all of his UFC performances... how many fighters on earth are capable of doing that to a crafty veteran like Mike Pyle.

Imagine the UFC put Stephen Thompson vs Eric Silva... Most on here would think the line would be closer to evens then Matt Brown vs. Silva. But the fact is Brown beat Thompson and did it in fine form.

If anyone in the UFC chartered up 6 straight wins he'd be brought to the gallows via a top 3 fighter and either be exposed such as Karmont vs. Souza... yet with Brown they want him exactly where he is. I understand their position from a business level as Brown doesn't talk smack or conduct himself like an idiot... hence doesn't draw PPV numbers.

Brown 1st round TKO or Brown 2nd round TKO over a gassed out Silva (Browns pace is relentless) and it won't even be close. Someones getting paid big time due to the press and commentators dragging him through the mud... and I'm a someone.

Of course it is... one day you'll be able to tell your wee ones that you were there the day that Matt Brown was cast out of his spell of being a pretty boy/hype train destroyer and commenced his run to the top of the WW division.

Enjoy the fights... if it's so close you gotta go.

It almost makes me feel bad for cheering for Erick Silva because Sect7G is going to be so sad when Matt Brown loses

Should be an amazing fight in any case, the card isn't huge on name value but a lot of the fights have the potential to be awesome.

For what it's worth I think Erick Silva beats Stephen Thompson but both are still improving with every fight and if they can get their takedown defense in order they both have top 5 striking in the division

I'd probably take Thompson in a rematch over Brown at anything better than evens. Brown is a very good fighter but I just can't see him beating anyone in the top 7-8 of the division. We'll see soon, I guess. If he beats Erick Silva he's earned a #1 contender fight with whoever doesn't get the next title shot out of DHK and the Condit/Woodley winner (or Shields/Lombard winner I guess if the UFC wants to go in that direction).
