i thought it was a cut, and Gus wasn't allowed to fight. I mean, it was in sweeden, and killed the card with the notice they got. highly doubt that story.

I was the same, was a totally different story than the one I read. It makes a bit of sense with the european guys, but yeah I was a bit doubtful since the cut, but then again, u never know in these situtations, especially when Dana says, u don't know the half of the stories I hear with these fighters. If this had happened with Jon Jones, do you think the fight would have been cancelled? I don't recall an important fight that has been cancelled due to a cut, but I acknowledge I might be wrong and the guy was just bull****ting.

it was a huge cut. that story is total BS.

Mousasi could be a contender, he's the best striker among those in LHW, but he is def overweight.
I would love to see him fight MW top 3.

Mousasi Machida in Brazil Feb

We get to find out how good he is sooner than expected

Should be a really good match, but I'm a bit sad to see one of them fall out as a contender. I assume it's at MW? I'd rather Machida/Mousasi/Sonnen hold the title.

Machida will be -250 or so. Speed and cardio should be the difference here. Battle of two guys who often show little urgency though, definitely not expecting an exciting fight here.

Will only bet if Machida's name value pushes Mousasi past +250,

Think this could be one of the more interesting fights of the year, Mousasi shows flashes of true brilliance when he fights and we all know what Machida is capable of.

It's 5 rounds though, and while the fight will for sure start slow, I think we will see good action as the fight develops.

Hope Machida is -150 or something. He won't be though.

Machida will win easily

Yeah I expect him to win easily but won't bet until -220 or whatever if it gets there which it won't

I think you guys are underestimating the importance of Muay Thai in this fight. It's kryptonite to Karate as a style.

Gregard is undefeated in K1 and holds a win over the current K1 HW champion. Rua I feel beat Machida twice using his MT skills and I believe Mousasi is at least on his level.

There is a reason that Mousasi is pretty much the only fighter ever to call out Machida.

The odds so far are off, Machida should be favorite but -180 to -200,

Muay Thai beats Karate. That's just a WAY overly simplistic way to approach this.

Obviously MT doesn't always beat Karate but it is a very important factor when looking at this fight.

Machida has struggled against MT in the past and Mouasi has arguably the best MT he has ever faced (as well as an excellent grappling game).

It's far more simplistic to say, Machida looked great at MW vs Munoz therefore he'll def win.

Also looking again at Machida's record he has lost vs every decent striker he has fought (only exception being Thiago Silva who's pretty hit and miss)

Rua (X2 in my mind)
Jones
Jackson (in fairness could have gone either way)

Everyone elses striking was pretty sub par and certainly not K1 level,

Have a busy day so probably won't be adding more. Good luck everybody!
+0.5u for the card, +40.90u YTD.

Adding 1u Smith/Chiesa goes the distance +115.

lol at citing Jackson as a loss.

Mousasi struggled with OSP. His cardio is bad, also, so if this goes long he's prob toast.

Machida has never really beaten a high level striker, Mousasi is by anyones definition one of the best in the division/world.

Karate is great against wrestlers not so much against true strikers.

Don't bet at +120! After the awesome ko by Machida you will get +250 or more on Mousasi.

Machida has not made anyone tired in a fight as far as I can remember. Not his style.

I think you're underestimating Gegard Mousasi and overrating Machida.

Anyone seasoned in MMA would have foreseen Machida beating Munoz. Munoz is so HIGHLY overrated it's insane.

And if you look at Machida's last fights, the guys who he has KOd (Couture, Rashad, Munoz, and Bader) are not super solid on the feet at all.

So is Jacksons and I thought Machida won that fight.

If you were to look at this from an MMA viewpoint and ignore Gegard's K1 fights, the striking advantage is prolly going to go Machida. Different style, different distance, and Machida is so versatile and can land so many different kicks at different angels that it's going to be very hard for a guy like Mousasi to figure out (he hasn't fought anyone like him). Also, although Gegards history in MMA with real elite strikers (Mark Hunt and Melvin Manhoef for instance) is very good, all those victories where by submission. On the feet, Gegard had the disadvantage.

I'd give the striking advantage to Machida and the slight ground advantage to Gegard.
