He'd have to lose some leg muscle to make MW, he has crocop-like legs

Wouldn't be too surprised to see it if he loses to Jones though as he'd have to feel he's a good matchup for both Sonnen and Silva

You said that's "common on TUF" not "that's common on first seasons of TUF in different countries."

It is not "common" to have fighters competing on modern seasons of TUF 2 weight classes away from their natural weights. Rashad Evans, what season was he on again...

The point I was making is, many fighters who possibly won't do well on the show may still end up having impactful UFC careers when they are able to fight at their natural weights. Which is "weird" because early round losers in most recent seasons of TUF have basically been cans who will never do anything of note at the top levels of MMA. Hell, even some top finishers are looking like they don't have long, fruitful careers necessarily ahead of them. I'm looking at you, Brookins and McGee...

There have def been some weak seasons recently.

I think Brandao and Dodson have potential to one day fight for the title in their respective weight classes though from the most recent season and Dillashaw, Caraway, Bermudez and Bedford could all have decent careers too. That said it was the first BW/FW season so that makes sense.

I think Ramsey Nijem has a lot of potential as well from two seasons ago, possibly even more than the eventual winner Ferguson. Wouldn't be too surprised if Ramsey is top-15 within a few years if he keeps improving.

I fully expect Dodson to end up fighting the Benevidez/Mccall/Johnson winner once the mini-tourney is finished and with how weak FW is right now if Brandao puts together two or three impressive wins he could be as well.

Ferguson is a far superior prospect to Nijem IMO.

As for the last season I would probably rank Dillashaw ahead of Brandao and Dodson. Dodson seems like a shoo in to fight for a title at 125 though due to how shallow that division is gonna be for awhile.

I think Dillashaw is below Dodson and wayyy below Brandao.

Wasn't there a scene on TUF where Diego taps out Dillashaw over and over?

Dillashaw is a really good athlete and he trains in a great camp too. Think he could go far.

If he was getting tapped rolling with Brandao, that doesn't necessarily mean anything, though I don't remember the scene in question.

Not too excited about Brandao tbh, ya he hits hard but his standup is pretty sloppy and he seems like the type of fighter whose technique will always go out the window as soon as fists start flying a la Wand. Who knows though, if he can hook up with some good coaches (not sure where he trains at now? too lazy to check) he could surely make some noise.

So Overeem just failed his drug test

What a surprise.

**** you, Overeem.

On the plus side if he doesnt pass on second attempt, JDS vs Mir should be fun

jds should seriously be -800 or more against mir.

had some money on jds. sucks.

love love love Alexander Gustafsson at -213 against Thiago.
Also love Schaub -247 against Rothwell.

JDS/Mir = fun? I mean ya if you like noncompetitive drubbings lol I'll sure have fun watching Mir get starched, that's for sure.

Reem's a bitch, like I said. Always has been, always will be. People don't change that much, tried tellin you guys this.

Mir has a chance. Not a good one, but Mir is consistently underrated.

Also comes with prebuilt story of JDS trying to avenge Big Nog

mir being underrated wont matter much if you can't find a reasonable way for him to win. One of the divisions worst wrestlers taking down jds? Don't think so.
Mir is very chinny. He's not a huge puncher, and his technique is sloppy.

I think he's stylistically completely outclassed here.

Horrific matchup. Mir's only edge is on the ground. He has weak takedowns. His biggest weakness is his chin. JDS hits extremely hard and is a superior striker. Mir has solid power but JDS chin has looked excellent so far. This is only gonna end one way.

Disagree with notion of Mir being "consistently underrated." I feel everyone by this time has seen Mir so many times, and he's always been the same fighter, that we all have a perfect idea of who he is. He has skills, and he has heavyweight size, but he is not going to beat the best in the world.

He also gets a little too comfortable on his feet and doesn't seem to realize when he's in danger of getting dropped. His chin isn't that bad though is it? He took some good shots from Brock didn't he? Anyway it's hard to tell in the HWD, every hits so F'ing hard.

Yeah, 3 whole seconds of fun

Similar to Overeem, it's less his chin and more he just tends to fold up as soon as someone lays some big strikes on him.

the only way to save this card is for Dana to shut up, and let Lorenza Fertita offer Fedor the fight. Fedor vs JDS would be huge and the rest of the card is still stacked. Mir vs JDS is not a main event, and then who does Cain fight if mir fights JDS? No one wants to see cain vs jds again (im a big ufc fan and i yawn at that)

THe only logical choice is to offer Fedor the fight, offer him like a small % of the PPV and a nice chunk of change to fight, like 300k or something. This would be a good test to see if fedor is really a big PPV draw in the UFC and if he can still hand with the best. If Fedor loses badly though, then it may be time to retire. there is no other heavyweight to make this main event more interesting right now than Fedor.

Ummm I would love to see JDS vs Velasquez again.

But I also admit I would love to see Fedor in a UFC title fight, even if the outcome is probably a foregone conclusion if he's getting finished by Bigfoot Silva and a LHW...

JDS vs Velasquez would be much more interesting than JDS vs Mir. At least I wanna see that fight going again. Without Overeem, they're hands down the best HWs in the UFC right now. TBH I don't think Emelianenko has much of a shot against JDS, it'll bring viewers and their styles makes it an interesting match but as far as competition for HW title goes, Cain is by far the best pick.

You can't give an instant rematch to a champ who lost by TKO. He needs a win first. Yes, it would be a closer fight most of the time and yes Velasquez probably has the best chance to beat JDS but it sets a bad precedent, instant rematches should only be for champs who lose by close decisions.

It has to be Mir, although Barnett or Fedor would work if they could bring either of them in in time.

2 words- DAN HENDERSON

He has no fight lined up, probably sitting on the sidelines for at least 6 months waiting for the Light heavyweight shot, and even longer for the middleweight shot. He just KOed fedor, he said he would accept the fight, and i think hes got a real shot.

Who wouldnt want to see that, that sounds like a better main event than Overeem, guy coming off a KO of fedor, fight of his life against shogun, and then goes into a heavyweight title fight as a big underdog against the number 1 heavyweight. If they want to sell ppvs, make this fight !

No Fedor but he's the original Fedor beater
