Re: MMA Thread

Added some JDS tko or dec -150 to go with straight up - about breakeven card if I lose, moderate win if I win.

Re: MMA Thread

Lewis won't have much left after that he looked dead but JDS was worried he was being faked out after that first swing

Crazy round, 10-9 JDS both guys did damage but obv JDS nearly finished near the end

Doesn't matter it's never going to a Lewis decision

Grind him down JDS

Re: MMA Thread

There we go. I don't think Lewis ever really recovered from the body shot

JDS has earned himself a #1 contender fight here. Stipe rubber match for #1 contender if DC is out/busy? Stipe still hasn't fought since he lost the title surely the ship has sailed on an automatic rematch

I'd also be down for JDS/Brock which we never got but never gonna happen since if Brock fights it'll be for the title

Would be down for a Reem rematch too i'm sure JDS would love to avenge that loss

JDS/Reem rematch would be good. JDS/Stipe rubber match as co-main if they make DC vs Ngannou would be good.

Won about 2 units and change for the card.

JDS is such a nice guy it's ridiculous I can't believe that Cain crowd boo'd him a while back.

JDS vs Reem, Stipe and Ngannou are the only possible fights rankings wise now right? I'd love to see him do the impossible and regain the belt. I think Reem is the best MU for him of the three at this stage of their careers and would be good to avenge that loss - Reem's chin is far more compromised than JDS's chin and it feels like Reem would still be a dog to JDS, just happened to win the 1 in 3 times or so he'll win the first time they met.

Ngannou would probably be the worst MU for JDS because his biggest weakness is offensive wrestling and while JDS may still have the better technique Ngannou hits harder and has the better chin.

Small bet on Moret as a few people that have decent records mma betting seem to be have him as value.

Might add a bit more later but Rothwell is my most confident bet despite his time out.
Not a great night.
Felt pretty confident Rothwell was going to get the decision at the end of the fight due to his constant pressure. Looked like he was landing the bigger shots.

Got £50 matched on Price at 2.9 on the exchanges which limited the damage a little bit.

Next weeks card looks good quite a few dogs I like the look of.

How do you see it playing out? I'm way less familiar with Reyes than I should be given what a prospect he is

Re: MMA Thread

reyes is super good, imo. He's a really good counter striker with good footwork for the most part. He's pretty patient on the feet, he can hit counters going backwards, angling off to the side. He's got a good long distance range game too. He's huge, he hits hard, he seems to be really durable, and his cardio is on point. The way he shut down OSP was really impressive. Didn't let OSP get anything off, threw something back whenever OSP tried something and he just won that fight going away. I mean, sure maybe Volkan lands something big early, but his cardio is going to be sapped early like it always is and then it's over.

either way lhw is finally somewhat interesting again with the emergence of reyes, walker, rakic, and santos.

Re: MMA Thread

Yeah it's nice that LHW is finally getting new contenders instead of recycling guys who were in their prime in 2005. I can't wait for Santos vs Walker surely that happens one day. Would love to see Santos walk down Jones and throw bombs at him though... it's good that there are at least 3 fresh contenders for Jones though now in Santos/Walker/Reyes all of whom pose a viable threat

I'm convinced he's the best chance due to his explosiveness and his height and reach. He's also not easy to predict and with so little tape on him due to quick fights it will be even harder to gameplan for. I don't want him fighting anyone else for fear of him losing and not getting the shot.

The only other option is Rumble but I don't see him coming back and possibly Reyes. Outside of that I sadly don't have any hope.

That Wichita was great imo as the fights delivered.

Re: MMA Thread

i think reyes is the best option for sure but walker could maybe do something incredible. walker has an oedzimir feel to him, that eventually he's going to get exposed. rumble never fights in the ufc again. hes ****ing massive now and hes having more domestic abuse/stalking issues.

i like heinisch as a slight dog this week. breese knocking out 62 year old dan kelly tells me almost nothing after 3 years off and heinisch looked great in beating cezar ferreira. breese got taken down like 6 times in his fight vs. keita nakamura. breese's guard is actually really good though and he was able to dive for legs and sweep nakamura a ton and win the fight pretty easily in the end. i just think it's going to be a really really close fight and i have to pick the guy who's going to be able to initiate the takedowns and trust he can stay safe on top. we've seen the american wrestler usually destroy the british fighters in the past so i'll keep going with that matchup.

Re: MMA Thread

Till will cruise to a win over Gamebred in front of that English crowd...the problem i see for Till in the future though is he doesnt seem to be able to deal with ground oriented fighters. Unfortunately for him (and guys like Wonderboy) is that with new champ Usman, former champ Woodley and now Askren, the division is top heavy with this type of fighter.

Looking forward, Im excited about some match ups on the March 23rd card.
I almost never bet until the day of the fight (for obvious reasons)
but here are a few fights im really looking forward to:

Luis Pena (*Violent Bob Ross*) vs Steven Peterson
Maycee Barber vs JJ Aldrich

Interesting that no prop bets have been released for this upcoming card yet. Last week the props were completely off on finish/decision odds. Guessing one of the books got killed last week and nobody wants to release them first now.

Re: MMA Thread

I think Masvidal looks the more tempting given the odds.
Plus Till's coming off a one sided beating which is probably going to affect his mindset.
He has already said he's looking to come out aggressive and take out Masvidal in the first round. Which given how durable Masvidal is could be difficult.

If Masvidal can mix in his wrestling and wear on Till I could see him stealing rounds.

To be honest though even though I am English I don't like Till so I might be bias and looking for reasons to bet against him.

Re: MMA Thread

I don't like Till either; but worth noting that he had biased homecrowd judging in the Wonderboy fight and that will happen again if the fight is at all close, Masvidal is good enough at losing splits without it being in England he'll have to win a lopsided fight to get the decision

No bets for me yet nothing stands out as must bet but haven't done any research yet

Some interesting news

https://411mania.com/mma/ufc-owners-...on-investment/

UFC actually acting ethically? That's a surprise.

Some less good news

https://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Wi...iolence-151259

Seems like Tony Ferguson might have some sort of mental illness issue (read the article headline isn't exactly accurate).

Re: MMA Thread

claudio silva is one of the funniest fighters on the roster. totally unathletic, one note fighter who can't strike and has an awful gas tank but always ends up on top and he's really good there. hoping money comes in on roberts so i can bet silva. too many holes in his game to bet him as a favorite, but danny roberts really struggled vs zawada and i think silva will get him in trouble vs. the inevitable grappling exchanges. i mean he could just get his head knocked off though.

Re: MMA Thread

Jack Marshman looked completely drained after missing weight.
We have seen missing weight go both ways but its interesting to note considering John Phillips will be looking for the KO...

Phillips is a live underdog at +140

Re: MMA Thread

This card is at such an awful time for me I may end up sitting it out betting wise and just catching the interesting fights after. Nothing that stands out as must bet. Sorta liked Duffy but missed the price. Would love to fade Till on neutral ground but not in England and his size should overcome his technique deficiency against Masvidal. Wood should win but big fav. Reyes from what i've heard too but not a huge fan of laying Oezdemir's punchers chance without properly rewatching Reyes fights, i've missed a few of his recent ones. I actually kinda hope Reyes loses as I want to see Santos and Walker fight Jones for the chance to put him out cold, or if Jones is fighting someone else first then Santos vs Walker will be amazing (and they have to make it for #1 contender and entertainment value surely if neither are getting the next shot at Jones)

Nice to have a card each week atm but pretty thin on relevant fights. This one is better than the next two and only really the top three fights have any divisional relevance, maybe Duffy has potential to be a ranked fighter too I guess.

Good luck all and make sure to post any must-see fight recommendations in thread since i'll rewatch the good fights when I wake up
