Then, Roy Nelson vs. CroCop fight. It was very clearly Rds 1 and 2 for CroCop and Rd 3 for Big Country. It does not take an expert to see this. At least the judges got the winner correctly, but how can you score Rd 3 for Cro Cop (1 judge had it 30-27)? Were you even watching the fight?
Daley didn't throw a strike in the first, nor did he get a TD, and was backed to the fence the entire time.

Re: MMA Thread

Not much for me for tomorrow's card

I took a little Cain DEC +750 and a little Ngannou r1 TKO +400 since I think well over half of Ngannous wins come via r1 TKO and I think Cain might play it safe and wrestle Ngannou and there's a chance he doesn't get the finish if Ngannou's chin and defense holds up in the latter rounds as they slow down - obviously a finish is more likely but I think it's an attractive price - so I win on either outcome or lose small on anything else.

I want to see Ngannou TKO him in r1 and fight DC or get a Stipe rematch tbh i'm still pretty high on Ngannou. Totally depends if Cain is the same guy who fought Browne or not though he's getting older and has been through so many injuries. If he's in his prime he wins as soon as he takes Ngannou down or gets to about mid round 2, but Ngannou could easily find that chin or Cain could be shot and we just don't know it yet...

FWIW I dislike Cain a lot and I think in his prime he is the GOAT at HW despite not being a fan. If he's the same guy Ngannou can only win in the opening exchange and still does a bit, but he might not be the same guy.

How could he have lost round 1? He took zeros shots and landed maybe 4 or so all while being the aggressor.

Ehh, I wasn't scoring the fight but he didn't think he looked very good at all especially against a guy that was under the weather. I'm happy he lost.

No, but seriously MVP is more flash than substance. He definitely doesn't want any part of the UFC. There are so many bad matchups for him in the welterweight division.

Whenever a good fighter is winning a ton of fights outside the UFC someone will claim that fighter is the best in the world and a debate will ensue. That's been the case forever. Unfortunately for Bellator many of its brightest stars haven't been looking too good as of late, to the point that we can't even have that debate.

Roy Nelson seemed adamant he won the fight. Like pushing someone up to the cage should be enough to win a fight? After round 1 Big John said Roy Nelson won the control because he was dictating where the fight takes place. I disagree completely. Roy Nelson was trying to get the fight to the ground. Cro Cop stuffed takedown after takedown after takedown attempt. Given that, it was CroCop that was controlling where the fight took place, which was on the feet.

Before the event Chael Sonnen called Roy Nelson a great wrestler. Roy Nelson doesn't have a wrestling background and has never showed great wrestling in MMA. He had 0 to 1 takedowns in the vast majority of his fights. The most takedowns he ever had in a winning effort in the UFC was 2, which happened to be against Cro Cop. I will say his takedown in round 3 was very impressive but wrestling has always been by far the weakest part of his game. This time Roy was way too reluctant to keep it on the feet, IMO. I think he could have presented some real problems for Cro Cop there.

Re: MMA Thread

I like Ngannou to win by 1st or 2nd R KO. Cain got so many things going against him, long layoff, injuries, ring rust, we'll see, Ngannou isn't easy to take down in the 1st 2 rounds, after that its a dif story and if Cain survives, he should find a finish. Don't think we see 5 rounds tbh, though can understand why some might. More of a gut feel that we simply don't see it go the distance.

I rather have Ngannou win, hopefully he has learnt from his Stipe fight.

I think fading Baroa is the play, might be my big bet of the night.

Think Fili might win too and Felder, also might play a small value bet on Barberena.

Re: MMA Thread

Barao looked about as good as he could and still lost to a not very good fighter on an early prelim bout. Barao is way too hittable. He's young in age but old in the fight game. He'd be wise to retire. I doubt that will happen though. The UFC should cut him so he can go travel around fighting bums. I suppose they may have him move back to 145lbs though.

Aljamain gets no respect, like his teammate Al Iaquinta. Not sure if they are showing a ton of improvement or if they've always been better than we gave them credit for.

Well done to Sterling but Rivera worse performance ever!

Going big on Felder, Vick got nothing for him.

Fili is a flip imo.

I think Sterling did show big improvements, he fought really smart and fought his fight, kudos to him for fighting the way he did.
