GSP could make 155 much like anyone could.
The issue is how would he look? Diego Sanchez and Kenny florian both went from 185 down to 145. As swoop mentioned rumble made 170 so GSP can certainly do it. The question as Khahib said is why would he want to? Money, 3 belt winner are both good reasons but does he think he'd win?

i thought he went to 185 because the weight cut to 170 was getting bad as hes getting older. hmmm i might be thinking of someone else but gsp is a huge 170er

nah he can make 170 easy, probably not the most fun cut but the reason he went to 185 was because there was a weak champ there that was ripe for the picking and he could make a lot of money beating him.

10 years ago he was a huge 170er when the average height was like 5'9... Nowadays the average height is 6 feet. Weight cutting has improved over the years. I'd figure 155 today is what guys at 170 were looking like 10 years ago.
Guys like Neil Magny are what the sport is going to look like in another 10 years.

Yeah, no.

In top 10 only Darren Till and Woodley are bigger than what GSP was when he was fighting. Maia and maybe RDA now are about same size. He'd still be considered a huge 170er if he fought today.

Weight cutting is not rocket science, there's only so much you can improve.

An argument could be made that the science of weight cutting has both improved, and become harder since USADA.

GSP is never fighting at 155, the fight wont happen.

Khabib -180 Conor +147 at Sportsbook.com. Must take place in 2018 for action.

GSP vs Khabib should be at 165 catchweight, it's not like GSP would defend the LW title if he wins anyway.

Onto the next card, at first glance i'm leaning Poirier and Reis. Anyone like anything in particular?

Obviously 2 years ago we'd snap Condit at that price but he looked utterly awful against Magny. Pretty tempting to go Oliveira by decision if he decides to grapple at all, Condit is hard to finish but super easy to take down and his striking isn't as deadly as it was in his prime.

i think cowboy is going to be a somewhat safe bet vs condit. cowboy has the ability to overwhelm with pressure. if tim means couldn't handle it second time around, i really doubt condit will be able to have any chance to keep the fight standing. i really think we'll see an almost carbon copy of that fight. best hope is cowboy fights at an insane pace and gets gassed like the yancy fight and condit can score a rory-esque third round finish.

i really like gaethje in this fight. poirier for sure could knock gaethje out in one of their exchanges, but i think this will be an all out brawl and i dont know if poirier is as durable as alvarez.

i like matthew lopez, just think hes better than alejandro perez. losses vs assunciao and rani yayha don't bother me.

i love adesanya and am definitely rooting for him, but i can see there definitely being some value on vettori. if vettori is able to pressure and glue himself to adensanya i can definitely see him winning a boring fight going away. i probably pass on that fight at this current -250/+220ish price because it wouldn't shock me if adesanya just outclasses him everywhere as well, but i'll definitely fire if the price gets bigger on vettori. i do like the over 1.5 in this fight though. adesanya seems like the type of striker to break you down over a few rounds and i can see vettori coming out and largely nullifying him even in a loss in the first round, similar to the rob wilkinson fight.

I love Poirier/Gaethje Over 1½ at -155 to win 2u. Also 2u on Gaethje +125, 2u on Casey +105, 1u on Boetsch +220 and 2u on Vetorri +225.

^ I took cowboy a few days ago, but keep in mind this is a short notice fight, he's got a lot of weight to cut, and its at almost -200. I wouldn't call it a safe bet by any stretch.

I've got some Vettori too, just honestly taking it cuz some ppl seem to think its out of line. Donkey play I know.

Also took Waterson as a slight dog. This one I think is somewhat interesting. I think Casey has a real edge on the feet, and will win something like a comfortable 29-28 decision a lot of the time there. However, she seems to be somewhat vulnerable to takedowns (although because of a lot of strong opposition the stats are a bit misleading), and I think Waterson can produce a takedown per round and flip this in her favor (she averages .87 takedowns per round generally).

Waterson will be so undersized against Casey, I think it will be too much to overcome.

I might lay a small bet on Condit/Cowboy draw as cowboy could win r1 dominantly or Condit could win r3 as a 10-8.
Also will take a bet on Condit r3 if the odds are steep.

Took Dheigo Lima at 2.0.

Not huge on him but I'm fading Okami. At 38 years old post USADA I don't think he has much left. Found a way out early against OSP in his last bout. Lima should really have the edge here.

Courtney Casey -125 2u
Martin Vetorri +225 1u
Tim Boetsch +225 1u

No bets for me i've backed off my leans slightly and just don't like this card for betting. Plus, i'll be at the Commonwealth Games Rugby 7s all day anyway so won't get to watch it

I think I agree I like the Poirier/Gaethje o1.5, but there just isn't anything that I want to bet on this card. A year ago i'd have snapped Reis over Moraga but I missed both of their last fights I think from memory so don't want to fire blind.

Good luck all

Quote from a recent WB interview

How Thompson rates Till’s striking compared to his

“Well, compared to mine, I mean, it’s kind of… I mean, I think I’ve faced better strikers, yes.”

There are better spots coming.

i kind of agree with all this but honestly that wasn't a bad decision by okami vs osp. it was a way to get back into the ufc on a short notice fight at light heavyweight vs super dangerous striker, i'd be looking for a way out with the least damage too. he realistically had no shot to win that fight.

stylistically this is a good fight for yushin. i haven't seen much from dhiego that shows he can stop a decent wrestler from getting the fight to the ground. basically this fight hinges on how washed okami is.

edit--- meh i just watched a wsof fight, he looks pretty washed and his chin doesn't seem to be there at all; i'll be putting some on lima.

Added Vettori at 3.3 and Boetsch 3.25, along with my bet on Lima.

Don't love any of them but think there is some small value and gives me something to sweat.
