Pure business gamble based on the pay increase should either tony or khahib pulls out and he's guaranteed the fill in.
I saw in the media day thing around December when he said he'd fill in for either guy.
If neither gets injured either ortega or Frankies stock goes up and its a better title fight.
Not really, Holloway's never been a 'money fights' guy he just wants to be the GOAT in his weight class. He'd be one of the last fighters in the whole UFC i'd think would lie about an injury to duck a fight for a 'better fight'. Hes probably just healed up enough that he can fight through it now and he has nothing to lose given it's not his belt on the line and he's coming in as a dog and making bank; if he loses it was short notice up a weight class to the champ if he wins he enters GOAT conversations as a multi weight class champ
I added a bit more on Moicano, diluted my price from +135 to +130 but I have a full max bet on, biggest bet in a few cards. I'm starting to think that he closes as the favourite with how much the market's agreeing, he's in to +107 now, I mean the dude avoided Jeremy Stephen's bombs and decisioned him and was not long at all away from decisioning Ortega. Kattar's showed a lot of promise but is he really a fav over a guy who's fought Stephens and Ortega without being outclassed and if anything looking the better fighter (or at least the better point fighter) in both fights? Fili and Burgos are definitely UFC level fighters, but he's never faced legit top 10 fighters the way Moicano has. I originally thought it was a pickem fight but i'm now thinking i'd probably even take Moicano to like -120. Yeah, he's not a big fav, but at +130 (and he opened even higher) its a good spot. I really like KK dec +110 too, Felice is tough and unlikely to be finished, but also unlikely to out-point fight KK standing and unlikely to be able to take her down easily. If i'm wrong it's probably because Felice can take her down but she's never struck me as physically imposing in the way fighters like Andrade and Gadleha are and Gadelha's the only fighter able to bully Karolina at all, even against Joanna she held her own, won a round, was thoroughly outclassed on the feet but landed a few shots etc.
I'm more confident in my picks this card than I have been in a while - Moicano, Lauzon, Rose, KK dec in the first tier then Chiesa in the second tier so far and i'll probably find a way to be on AES in some capacity as well before the fight and maybe a couple of my other leans
Also looks like TJ vs Cody 2 for UFC 227. Hoping to get TJ at evens again, it was a great fight and happy to see it again but surprised they didnt give Cody a gimme fight to get some hype back first. I guess Cruz is out and then Rivera/Moraes winner is clear #1 contender unless its a close fight that Cody wins in which case we might see a rubber match. Hopefully we get to see TJ/MM eventually it's the only MM fight i'm interested in at this point since he's cleaned out his division. I guess at some point you have to make Benavidez 3 right
