wow Masvidal is a live betting fav now but Maia was after r1 on b365

Weird, I thought Maia won r2 Masvidal didnt do enoguh damage. R1 is hard to score depends what you value

Anything could happen here

its effective striking and grappling, submission attempts count and he did land some punches to the head from the back. Not super damaging though

I think we're headed to a split dec if Masvidal wins r3

Oh wow come on Maia get control of him and take r3

All 3 rounds close but I have Maia winning just because I think he's a favourite in each individual round, this is the sort of fight that could be anything from 30-27 Maia to 30-27 Masvidal depending on what judges are looking for, but 30-27 Masvidal would be a terrible card. I think I have Maia winning all three rounds actually on my card but r1 could have been Masvidal

So my biggest MMA bet ever is in the hands of three MMA judges

gl me

I have it for Maia but any scorecard is possible

Masvidal lit him up standing and Maja while he did control the ground he did no damage whatsoever
Think Masvidal should win this 1.

Masvidal winning would be a massive robbery

Never a doubt!

I had it 29-28 Maia

Thought Mas got r1 but tough to judge

<3 Sal D'Amato

My heartrate was through the roof with my fate resting on him of all people for the split decision

I think 29-28 Maia is about fair considering how the fight went, but it's a rare one where you can score the fight anything up to 30-27 for either guy depending on what you're looking for - in R1 Maia dominates for 4 mins but then takes more damage and loses the end of the round then in r2/3 Masvidal dominates the first few mins standing but ends up on the bottom being outgrappled last few mins

Nice that Dana said Maia's got the title shot. I wonder if this is the fight Woodley's started camp for already, if so probably at 213 assuming Maia's knee is fine? I have to assume Woodley was told he'd be fighting the winner of this fight next

Can't wait for Woodley vs Maia. Weird matchup with Woodley being so dangerous and explosive but also so tentative. I actually think it's a good matchup for Woodley and a badish matchup for Maia, but I also think Maia is a far better fighter than Woodley who is super overrated still

I don't know exactly how much i'm up on Maia, I lost a tiny r3 Maia bet and a r3 Masvidal hedge, added a couple Maia units yesterday etc but I won over 20+ and I think 25+ units on the fight and am up 30 units or more for the card now for what will be my best card ever (got 7.5u to win 5u or so on Joanna and 3u on JDS from here, but it's still a 20+ unit winning card and could be 40 depending on results)

I'm curious which judges scored which rounds for which fighter - all 3 rounds could have been scored for either guy in theory

I agree with this but at the same time thats sort of scoring the fight as a whole, all 3 rounds were close under 10 point, but I just don't think Masvidal did enough damage in rounds 2 or 3 to win them. Round 1 is very debateable with Maia dominating most of the round with back control and choke attempts but eating shots on the ground to end it

Let's go Joanna and JDS to finish strong

congrats on the Maia win SwoopAE. I ended up betting $200 at -110 at westgate after reading your post and doing a little research.

Not a bit but I guess judges valued octagon control over damage

Yeah but R2 and R3 they both had similar octagon control but what edges it is Masvidal actually did a lot more damage!

I hope not or I'm gonna feel stupid with my Andrade bets.

Was worried at first but I think Joanna's cardio will prove the difference here. She's like a matador using the old Frankie Edgar vs bigger guy gameplan against the tank rolling towards her

It's effective grappling too though not just octagon control, Maia had several close choke attempts and those count as if they were punches landed under the criteria etc depending how close the sub attempt is

Not sure how to score r1, Andrade got a takedown and landed early but Joanna landed more strikes. Still, if the first couple rounds are like this i'm confident Andrade tires first and Joanna can grind her later

I actually think Mas should have gotten the win but I don't feel like Maia winning is horrible either
