yeah it's pretty gross and distracting. Whose idiot idea was this? Would have rather seen them go with an all black mat.

Uncle Dana is taking the credit for it by the sounds of it.

Did nobody tell him that "gold" doesn't ever work in print? So ugly.

Black mat + buffer in dinner jacket + put the ring girls in gold bikinis + dana in a gimp suit.

Some of the salaries have been revealed pretty early:

Brock Lesnar $2.5m
Mark Hunt $700k
Anderson Silva $600k (recovering from gall bladder surgery & haven't been training? Who cares!?)
Daniel Cormier $500k (would've got $1m if the Jon Jones fight was still on!)
Miesha Tate $500k
Jose Aldo $400k
Cain Velasquez $300k
Frankie Edgar $190k
Travis Browne $120k
Amanda Nunes $100k

...even if Brock loses, he still wins! Am so rooting for Mark Hunt but fear Lesnar will repeat his UFC 100 performance against Frank Mir.

Wow. Bet .60 unit on Lauzan at +100.

That ref should be axed. He was really messed up and should have stopped it when Lauzon started yelling at him to stop it.

Agreed he was out of it then and could have been stopped - I think asking the ref for the stoppage is almost always a mistake though. Unless you're pointing out that your opponent is actually unconscious, I don't see how a ref can grant a stoppage without looking like he's doing it just because he was asked to.

nunes @210 1.0
tatetrd3 @800 0.1
taterd4 @1400 0.1
taterd5 @2200 0.1
nunestate over2.5 @ 104 1.5

Could be close, but I don’t see Tate outpointing Nunes on the feet and the TD/GnP/Sub game won’t be cake against Nunes so at @210 I see value. My main worry is Nunes gassing. She says she’s focused on cardio, breathing, etc. but that can only do so over a year and half. She references her fight with Schevchenko when addressing cardio critiques but IMO that wasn’t a true test.

zingano @-149 1
zinganopena over 2.5 @-1.42 1
zinganord1 @500 0.3
zinganord2 @650 0.2
zinganord3 @1400 0.1

Zingano should have the edge on the feet as a “striking specialist” (I put that in quotations since her two wins weren’t stand up heavy so still unproven in my eyes, underestimating her won’t hurt me tho) but could be close. Definitely not impressed with Pena’s standup but probably going to see this fight on the mat a ton, which I also give advantage Zingano.

I agree + Edgar/Aldo & DC/Silva. Leaning Edgar but want a better price and I don’t know who the **** Aldo even is right now, been forever since we’ve seen him go rounds. Definitely taking DC in the fight but think it’s super close if he has to do it over 83% of the time.

Wow, Hunt getting paid more than Silva or Cormier. Gotta feel good for Hunt there.

Gotta figure Cormier is going to make PPV points as well unless they're really screwing him (he would've when he was in the main event).

After the weigh-ins. I don't think missing weight by a tiny fraction of a pound is a big deal, especially with both guys having done so multiple times. I think Big Rigg is a better fighter than Gatstelum and would be Kelvin's biggest name win. Kelvin is very good, but unless Big Rigg fell off entirely I think he wins this. Don't pay me any mind though, I am already in a big hole before the tv prelims even start.

interesting that brock is allegedly paid ~$2mm per year from the WWE + merchandise and PPV points. Wonder if part of the return was monetary. He can brick off 3-4 mma fights even if he loses all of them and always have the WWE as his real job.

Cheers - I try not to read too much into weigh ins either but Hendricks looked SO terrible that I had to wonder if it was a factor.

I took Gastelum for a unit after that but I've hedged with Hendricks by decision.

Money was a HUGE part of him taking this fight. He can talk all he likes on top about how he isn't happy with how his previous run in the UFC ended, but the reality is he wasn't coming back unless he was getting paid.

Good corner advice for Sage. Was considering adding Marin after r2 as a small dog (clearly 19-19) but Sage got good corner advice and seemed to take it in so decided not to

Marin was doing well until Sage decided to Travis Browne elbows him that changed the fight and Sage is going to win now probably if the judges saw the elbows hurt him
