Bizarre, are we watching the same shows? Florian's analysis is very ordinary, many people can duplicate it, at least Rogan you can feel that the guy is an expert.

Florian plays it too safe and seems afraid to offend fellow fighters. Does he really criticize anyone? I rather hear someone more opinionated.

As for the Mir fight, I don't like the guy but if the price is good I would bet on him over Cormier. He is Cain's training partner but lacks the cardio and conditioning. He will be a big favorite over Mir, I think there will be value on Mir. He's faced much tougher competition and Cormier's standup is not CroCop or Dos Santos, that should be a big relief for Mir. On the ground, his superior wrestling better be good enough to control a great black belt BJJ Player.

People are hating on Rogan too much, no one is worse than Florian. With the exception of Shamrock and Raunallo.
I also think Miletich is great.
Did I just dream up Tim Sylvia getting a crack at Cormier? Did I not read an article about that?
Mmajunkie put out that story of Cormier vs Sylvia on Friday. Guess they pulled the story.

LOL some gems in here. Cormier lacks conditioning? He just went 5 rounds with Barnett and won all of them convincingly, while Mir barely ever goes past round 1. Also, Cormier would easily KO Cro Cop at this point in their careers.

@Provolone, I think Mir was really good too. I think Mir, Florian, and Couture have all been good.

I don't think there are many HW's that WOULDNT easily KO Cro Cop at this point.

I doubt cormier takes Mir down, because of the submission threat, and Mir wont be able to take DC down. That leaves a standup fight, and neither man is hugely better than the other on the feet, so I think it'll be closer than people think.

Cormier's boxing is better and I think his chin is going to hold up a lot better than Mir's.

What line would you set the Mir vs Cormier fight?

If I ran a betting site i'd open the lines at Cormier -180 Mir +180 (not incl juice)

How about the Nelson/Carwin line? Carwin -220 Nelson +220 or so? Carwin will probably use him as a punching bag, the only worry is Nelson's power and Carwin's lack of a gas tank.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Carwin win by R1 TKO despite Nelson's chin tbh

some more fun ones coming up to handicap

de fries vs thompson should be fun they're both SO bad at least de fries beat broughton but looked awful doing it

swick vs damarques should be fun too swick has been out basically forever will be interesting to see how good he is now

lawrence vs holloway will be a fun one to handicap, leaning lawrence as fav

could be value on siver over yagin if he's better than -200 he'll annihilate yagin and yagin did beat hominick but that was due to hominick having his soul crushed by KZ

I'd open:
Cormier -150/Mir +150
Carwin -180/Nelson+180

Nelson has a ridiculous chin, and in a 5 round fight (especially after such a massive layoff) I think Carwin will gas badly. Nelson also has a decent amount of power in his hands and is a reasonable grappler, I think he's a VERY live dog in this fight, and I think the odds are going to be pretty attractive.

Nelson taps a gassed Shane in the 3rd.

Actually wouldn't be surprisedya if nelson wins, he's the far more experienced fighter and in all honesty I think Carwin is overrated. He's a first round fighter and with Nelsons chin, I wouldn't be surprised if Nelson wins a 29-28 decision depending on how gassed Carwin gets in r2-r3. Carwins boxing isn't that good, what he got in his advantage is his power and wrestling which degrades quite a lot as the rounds go on.

Anyone think Vera has any shot at shogun? I mean, he has elite striking and as far as I know he hasn't been defeated in the standup if it didn't involved pushing him against cage and clinching him. Though his last fight vs Elliot made me a bit worried, just the last round when he got dropped, but he looked alright in r1 and r2, didn't finish it bc Elliot was on defense pretty much the whole time. I guess it all depends what kind of shape the two come in, if Vera comes in excellent and Shogun in really bad shape, then I think he has a chance, but if Vera gets clipped by Elliot, then he's going to get clipped by Shogun and I think the going "Between two strikers of around equal striking skill, the one with the better chin, which Shogun has I think, is going to win".
Still Vera is one of my favorite fighters and I hope he pulls it through.

Read the last line and then remember to stop betting on your favorite fighters. You are blind to their weaknesses and make too many excuses for their losses.

Didn't say I was going to bet Vera or anything, just stated I like him as a fighter and I hope he wins alongside with what I believe it takes for him to win this fight(one factor). Don't know where u got the fact that I'm blind to their weaknesses, that I bet my favorite fighters and make excuses when my bets or fighters lose.

I hope Vera wins too, Shogun fans annoy me for some reason so I find myself cheering for his opponent more often than not (and also i'm a big Machida fan)

I'm more excited for Machida/Bader, I want to see Machida put a striking clinic on him and TKO him in r2/3

Dana's decision that Shogun gets next shot if he wins is bleh he'd be coming off 1 win and it's too soon, Gustaffson is a more exciting matchup for Jones and they can make the Machida/Shogun 3 rubber match a #1 contenders match and potentially make them the TUF Brazil Season 2 coaches

If Shogun and Machida both win and Shogun gets the title shot, Machida/Gustaffson would be an amazing number 1 contenders match, and Lil'Nog/Forrest/Rampage/Texeira/Evans/Bader can keep themselves busy with those matchups (in order of names listed), Bonnar/Te Huna would be fun, or Bonnar/Rampage if he only wants big names and Rampage is willing to take another fight quickly after Texeira win or lose

Think the Vera/Shogun line is close to accurate fwiw, Vera wins 1 in 4.x times or so.

What, Shogun should not get the titleshot after Hendo fights w Jones, Gustafsson(if he wins his next match whoever he faces, preferably a strong wrestler) or winner between machida/shogun(assuming both win their fight) for the 1st title contender. That is the most logical imo. I think it's kinda strange Gustafsson hasn't gotten a matchup yet.

When was the last time Vera looked good? In 2006 when he KOed Mir who was still coming off the motorcycle accident?

Vera's always had the skills, he just never put it all together. I think Shogun mauls him.

This is a fantastic style matchup for Machida. He is obviously far superior to Bader on the feet. Bader is the type of plodder that the Dragon eats for lunch. Bader's wrestling just has not impressed very much, and he certainly hasn't shown enough to make me think he can take down Machida on a consistent basis. He's also very hittable on the feet, which concerns me a bit with regard to betting this going the distance. But I don't think Machida will be looking to rush in too much and give Bader a chance to hit a takedown.
Idk man I think if Tito can catch Bader....

-----------

Also, Dream Team = Rogan + (Mir or Miletich). F Goldie and his god damn corn nuts imo.

Shogun should kill Vera in the cage, vera in some people's minds thought he lost to Elliot Marshall. However it is a 5 round fight and shogun doesn't have the best cardio.

What, that was a pretty clear 29-28 decision. In no way did Elliot win any of the 2 first rounds, he had no offense what so ever or anything going for him. That statement, "in some peoples mind" is pretty useless since no sane or credible person would ever say Elliot won any of the two first rounds. What u could argue is that it was a draw but it was only 1 knockdown and having his back for a min or smth, with that said, getting a 10-8 round is pretty darn hard and I think u have to dominate a bigger part of the round to even get close to one.
