Re: MMA Thread

Davis looks lost. Rashad is just too good for him.

Re: MMA Thread

phil needs more work. he can beat a lot of people, rashad is just too fast, he's just better at basically everything which has to be disheartening for phil.

Re: MMA Thread

+1 unit and change for the event, gg

Would have been 2 units and change if Bisping got the nod, ah well, i'll take it

edit: assuming judges dont see it 48-47 for davis, who knows these days.

Re: MMA Thread

You know, I'm glad I found this thread. First off I have one thing to say to all of the cocka roaches that booo at these events just because it's not toe to toe striking. I'd like to see them in the octogon, they'd get their azz kicked!! FRIG OFF WITH THE BOOOING, NO RESPECT.

Now that I got that off my chest , did anyone notice how Davis seemed to really be slipping a lot?? I'm sure it would have been the same result, but seemed like every time he tried to set to throw a punch his back foot would slip.

Re: MMA Thread

lol chael vs bisping is one of the least controversial split decisions ive seen in a while.

Round 1 and 2 were very close, so 30-27 is far from a robbery.

i see you and your obviously biased opinion made it over from EDF.

if you rewatch round two, and can with a straight face tell me that chael won, i'll send you and the other 3 ****ing turtles a pepporoni pizza.

master splinter would be embarrassed of you.

Re: MMA Thread

sure i had all 3 rounds for chael why would I disagree with that?

Maybe some people count holding someone against the cage the same as getting a takedown but I really dont.

And sonnen had most of the significant strikes in every round, plus takedowns. The cage punches from bisping had the power of a guy on his back pillowing away when they cant get up, I disregard almost all of them.

i have no trouble accepting a draw or a nod to bisping on round 2, but calling this fight a robbery just rubs me the wrong way.

Re: MMA Thread

takedowns are worth more than stalling against the cage. We know this already?
No idea why some people were shocked by Chael getting the decision here given how the rules are being enforced. (i guess it's the nature of a sportsbet thread. You'll try to justify "your" fighter winning rounds, and look for reasons for that rather than looking at the fight with an open mind)

Not a good night for mma, but a good night for the bets i chose.

Chael looked drained. Bisping is bisping, but i was somewhat impressed by his strength in pushing Chael to the cage. Probably more to do with Chaels condition than anything else.

Weidman looked horrible. Hopefully it was the short duration that did it.

Rashad looked good i guess. But Phil messed up with those lazy kicks; no idea why he thought those were a good idea against a wrestler of Rashads abilities.

Re: MMA Thread

To everyone crying about the bisping fight. The count whiffed about 80 percent of his strikes. Sadly for him though these judges actually understood that air punches don't count.

Re: MMA Thread

30-27 is a way off, I thought Sonnen won r1 barely, Bisping won r2 barely, but Sonnen won r3 clearly, so in my books, it was 29-28 in favor of Sonnen.

Re: MMA Thread

You guys who bet Bisping are fkn hilarious ITT. COME ON people. Seriously. I like discussing MMA with people here because most people here are rational and intelligent compared to Sherdog etc. forums but some of these posts are giving me serious pause.

Getting up in arms over this decisions is simply ludicrous. It was a close fight. I had it 29-28 for Sonnen with Bisping winning round 2. MMA media gave an edge to Sonnen. I think scoring 29-28 for Bisping is defensible, the first 2 rounds were close with the first being extremely tough to call.

I wouldn't read too far into Weidman's mediocrity, he cut a lot of weight on extremely short notice and he looked excellent his last two fights.

I thought the Evans-Davis fight was very good for both fighters. Rashad looked great, I would have to say he's definitely a top 10 P4Per in my eyes. Davis had a solid showing considering he huge step up in competition he took, and I think this was a good experience for him. He fought a hard 5 rounds against one of the best in the world, and he should be better for it.

Betting wise, sucks Beltran cost me my parlay. Bad move by me, I would have made some decent money if he won or I left it out, took a bit of a loss with Chael by Dec being my only winning bet of my 3 wagers.

Re: MMA Thread

what do you guys think the jones/evans line will be? Concerning the weidman maia fight does anyone have any idea why maia gassed so easily? part of my reasoning for betting the fight was that weidman due to short notice and dramatic weight cut would be at a cardio disadvantage. Then in the 3rd round maia looked almost as gassed as him. In the davis/evans fight I wasn't surprised that evans stopped a lot of the TD attempts but i was surprised the he was able to take Davis down and won nearly every scramble. Just the same if they rematch and i can get a similar line or better i'll be on davis again. A lot of rashads success in the grappling came from mental errors by davis. Hey threw way to many leg kicks and on top of that he looked confused as to what he should do. He didn't seem to wanna grapple with rashad but at the same time he didn't really seem interested in exchanging punches. He kinda stayed relied on leg kicks more then anything and while he is still the better wrestler imo it's not by so much that he can just give rashad a leg to grab. I would also say he has a lot more room for improvement. rashad on the other hand has likely reached his peake

Wow i already had my mind made up to bet jones but at those odds i'm damn tempted to take rashad. I know jones is already the best to ever do it but that line is silly.

That line is on bookmaker. The line will close around -475 on Pinnacle for Jones.

Re: MMA Thread

Rashad has faced top competition in his last 9(8 actually since Tito wasnt top competition when he faced him anymore) fights and has won 8 of them and lost only 1. I think the -625 line is absurd, if it's anything like that, he deserves a bet vs Jones. It's going to be very interesting to see that matchup. He's actually fought a lot more tough competition than jones when you think about it. Still, Jones is a freak and he'll prolly win.
