Wow I would've been all over Silva -120 live after Rd 1. Not like anything really happened rd 1 besides he got laid on, Chael didn't do much damage.

Silva is going to open at -1000 for his next title defence imo regardless of whether it's Bisping, Boetsch, Munoz, Weidman, Stann, Belcher or whoever else.

Honestly Sonnen should go to LHW he can pack on the muscle to get big enough and he's probably not getting another shot at MW while Silva's champion (originally thought illegal knee would give him an angle to but the knee was legal and after they made up the feud's done).

After Gustaffson and Hendo, Jones will be out of viable challengers (maybe Machida 2 if he can beat Bader then Shogun) and given Jones personality etc Sonnen could sell a feud there using his epic trash talk if he can get a couple wins (and honestly he probably beats all of the LHWs except Jones and Machida)

I could see Sonnen going through say Rampage or Thiago Silva or someone, then Shogun or Evans to get a title shot if the timing works out

I'd actually cheer for Sonnen against Jones too. I mean, even going 0-2 Sonnen's a name, and they're going to run out of names to feed to Jones to sell PPVs soon if Jones doesnt go to HW.

r1 was 10-9 sonnen btw imo, not enough damage for a 10-8 despite the fact silva got no offense

pretty insane that a missed spinning backfist/slip ended the fight, but silva was going to catch him standing eventually a huge % of the time

props to sonnen for taking it to him though, sonnen is the only man who is remotely capable of beating Silva at MW out of the people currently fighting at MW, I do think Sonnen would beat silva 1 in 4-5 times even after that.

Yeah I think Sonnen goes to LHW. A lot of $ to be made at LHW against guys who are atleast names ('Page, Evans, Lil Nog, Machida, Shogun even Griffin)

Silva is Shiva, destroyer of worlds. He's the God of Death.

El Diablo said it best in another thread - Silva gave ZERO ****s about chael. He got dominated in the first round, came out in the second and still gave zero ****s. No respect for Chael, zero fear of anything Chael could do to him. That knee was a thing of beauty.

long live the king

Never made a play on Silva, but ship the 4/4 anyways.

I don't agree with this at all. They fought what the equivalent of 6 full rounds before the missed backfist/slip and Anderson didn't exactly light Chael up on the feet in them. Huge % (80-90?) is crazy.

you realize silva had a busted up rib in the first fight? The same injury that made Stun Gun immediately bitch out and quit in the first minute of a fight tonight?

Silva catches him a large to huge % of the time.

Not a great night for my picks, only broke even because I scalped Anderson ITD and Sonnen by Decision pretty heavily.

A third fight? Usually thats reserved for 1-1 series', or ones with close/controversial decisions or draws. Silva finished him both times

you wanna right now give me +1000 on whoever he fights?

i'd take down to +980 if you're looking for value.

i think pretty much all of those guys mop the floor with sonnen. i'd take most of them at -200 against sonnen, and probably take lil nog, griffin, or page at EV against him.

i think he's done well at MW because he's big and strong, but at LHW he would generally be the smaller man, and it would be much tougher to impose his wrestling will, and would be eating much harder shots, which apparently he can't take too many of.

his hype train roided up mania ride is over. i wouldn't be at all surprised if he faded away from the sport pretty quickly now

then again dana might say choo choo for a 3rd fight...rich franklin style. and i'm sure it'll end the same way if it does happen, i just hope i get better than -300 again.

lol Sonnen would destroy Griffin at this point, he can't even crush a completely shot Tito Ortiz. Also pretty sure Sonnen beats Rampage.

Feel the first was a 10-8 because Silva got 50 strikes unloaded on him, was mounted, and offered up 0 offense of his own. Sonnen gaining mount was what sealed it for me. If that Penn/Fitch 3rd round was a 10-8, and I think it was, then this was a 10-8.

Agree Silva was going to win anyways, he was stuffing Chael's weak shots in the second because Chael roidsgassed.

Sounds funny but Sonnen/Griffin happening in the near future wouldn't shock me....

Easy gatekeeper big name type guy for Sonnen to get his first win at LHW against.

No thanks because i'll get better odds actually betting him due to all the angry sonnen fans etc

Who can beat him at MW? Bisping/Stann/Boetsch/Lombard/Weidman/Munoz/Belcher are the next in line depending on their results. I don't see it going well for any of the seven of them.

Rashad would need to win fights at MW first, Sonnen isn't getting another rematch, we saw what happened to Franklin the first two times and Belfort last time. Who's left?

Silva should just quit and solidify his legacy as the best UFC champion ever. Though Jones may take that throne away at a later time, but for now, AS is the best without a doubt. As for Sonnen, yes he offers the best matchup vs Silva but getting a 3rd rematch after getting submitted and then TKO'd seems a bit silly.

Rampage at evens vs sonnen is lol. Sonnen would dump his ass on the floor and 30-25 him at this stage of their careers

Why would he quit, he's still in his prime and while he's getting up there in years, there's no one left to dethrone him at MW so why not KO bisping and lombard and munoz or w/e then retire in a couple years after a few more paydays
MMA Thread Quote

He'll prolly do that, the thing is just that everyone knows that those two fighters aren't real challengers, esp bisping. Still a small chance he loses and "destroys" his legacy as nr 1. It's basically that he has more to lose than to win vs the likes of bisping and lombard, whereas when Sonnen almost beat him, there was some doubt.
