That was an absolutely ridiculous way for Greene to finish I had to be drawing so thin on bottom position in r3 there for the finish prop lol

Both guys stock goes wayyyyy down as a result of that fight

Perry TKO next fight plz

Shoulda taken some Greene sub with how many subs he has in his record given it was like +900 or w/e

Greene another tall lanky dude I love to overrate, but gonna be hard to overrate him after this ugly performance.

Villante managing to stay in the UFC for as long as he has is quite amazing.

Ya the bet was absolutely horrible given the way Greene was pointfighting and randomly gets there via... is that a bottom position ezekiel choke? They called it an arm triangle from bottom lol

I'm happy for Greene but wow he is not going to win his next fight if he gets a step up in competition and gets a competent striker who isn't slow

Mike Perry should beat Mickey Gall like an abusive father beats his son. Mickey needs to man up and show pops he's no longer a little kid. That walkout music isn't helping though.

every ****ing fight, you hear the same ****, blatne tfence grab, eye pokes after repeated warnings! Are they ever going to to punish these cheats?

Start taking a point immediately, it's the only way cheats will stop cheating!

****ing ridiculous how they let cheats get away with ****.

The point system sucks, and unfortunately it doesn't often make sense to take away a point for a simple fence grab. There should be purse penalties with $s going to the opponent in addition to taking points/positions and giving warnings.

Fairly poor card for me in the end lost a couple units and think I got it in bad a bit

Might go lighter on the next few cards just take 1-2 spots I like or whatever

Poirier got real heart and well desrved if he wins!

I wudda thought Hooker would have the cardio advantage but Poirier looked the stronger fighter, he wanted it more!

Great fight and great effort from both Poirier and Hooker. That being said there was no striking defense whatsoever. It was like an MMA version of a Rocky movie. They both looked like Justin Gaethje circa 2017. Speaking of which, I'd definitely favor Gaethje over either of these 2 at this point simply because he has improved his striking defense.

I believe Poirier wants Ferguson next. That would be a great fight.

I think the decision went the right way, Poirier was for sure the fresher man in the later rounds and I had it 2-2 going into the 5th which Poirier clearly won. I hope we don't see Hooker back in action anytime soon after two back to back wars but the guy is as tough as they come so every chance he fights again in 2020.

Why not?

A lot of the time, I see those fence grabs used to defend what would otherwise be a takedown, oftentimes changing the complexion of the round. Similarly certain fighters, including all time greats like Cormier, routinely gain a lot of advantage from eye pokes. They may or may not be inadvertent, but they still give him an advantage when they happen, particularly again technical fighters like Stipe who rely or mobility and stick and move types of tactics that require (surprise) seeing everything coming their way.

I would say a point should be taken in 2 cases:

1) A fighter ignores warnings and repeats the infraction

2) An infraction, even if inadvertent, gives a fighter a serious advantage

I wish Leonardo Santos was young enough we could see him fight contenders in his prime he's so old now and has been so inactive and fighting unranked fighters yet he's so good or was anyway

One of the big what ifs of fighters who are still active.

The real prop bet on this fight would be if he actually makes it to the fight. What's your line? - 120 No, + 100 Yes ?

Completely agree. Great fight by both and Hooker should def. take a rest for the rest of the year. Porier has had more experience in these tough fights and it showed in the championship rounds.

if you start taking points away immediately instead of what these refs are doing right which is just idiotic, ten warnings then the foul happens and then nothing ( i mean why even have rules in place)

fighters will lose fights thus lose money, bonuses etc etc... they will quickly stop doing it!

Ultimately it's the ufc fault, shocking how they haven't said anything, i mean it just shows you how unprofessional they are.

The problem with that though is that it's a natural instinct to grab the fence. You'd pretty much be deciding a lot of fights off some bullshit. Certainly something should be done but the point system is too harsh in a 3 to 5 round right. The point system was created for 12+ round boxing matches.

Ideally there would be a barrier other than a fence or the fence would be such that it couldn't be grabbed. That's not changing anytime soon though.

Of course there's also the option of just making fence grabs legal. That would completely remove the grey area.

we were truly blessed to be able to watch such an incredibly stupid fight such as gian and greene. i propose greene and gian take on francis 2v1 to keep him active.

I agree with that 100% and think he's had some favorable fights because of it.

That being said, this is only the 2nd time in his UFC career that he's lost 2 fights in a row which in itself is quite impressive. Normally he wins then loses wins then loses. Same as Mickey Gall who is a .500 UFC fighter in my book since neither CM Punk nor Mike Jackson were UFC level competition.

theres fence grabs and then theres FENCE GRABS. some are almost meaningless and others literally stop a takedown that would have happened 99% of the time.

i think if its a blatant fence grab stopping a TD, the ref should pause the action and you should force the fighter to start on their back. its been done before with that one bellator ref whos really good and i think its happened in the ufc a few times.

it sounds like work but its easy af to determine. then its not as damning as losing a point to a natural instinct like grabbing a fence. but the fighter who worked to get the takedown still gets the position and the points that come from a TD.

my plan prolly wouldnt work tho still as some refs are just balls, it requires a good ref to police the fence grabs.
