Im sure you guys are aware of Masvidal's skill set but just in case you're not, here's video of Robin Black and John Ramdeem explaining: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVbMfhr8Vjc

I'm aware that Masvidal will be harder to take down than most fighters, but I still think Maia gets him down more often than not. Has anyone else ever taken Rory Macdonald down in the first round? I can't recall that happening. Yes, Maia lost that fight, but Rory is both a bigger man and better fighter than Masvidal (or at least he was at the time that the fight took place). Masvidal's great and improving and is a dangerous fight, but I think you might be underestimating how good Maia's grappling is at WW. We'll find out in a few hours whether you're underestimating Maia's ability to cling to someone and chain trainsitions together until he gets it to the mat or whether i'm underestimating Masvidal's ability to stuff his takedowns. The only surprise outcome would be a close fight, either Maia lands takedowns and wins easily, or he doesn't and loses. The only way it's technically a close fight imo is if Maia wins the first two rounds and gasses and Masvidal takes over late in which case anything is possible from a draw to a 29-28 Maia to a late Masvidal TKO

Hopefully Maia's been working on his cardio, if he can go at full pace for 3 rounds I think he's just going to win unless Masvidal literally has the best takedown defense in the UFC. I mean, Maia's taken down Chael Sonnen, Jon Fitch, Rory Mac, etc I can't see him failing to take down Masvidal very often. I think he just wins as long as he doesn't walk into a fight changing punch in the first minute. Maia is getting old, but he's nowhere near his age in fight years, I mean he's absorbed what was the stat 13 strikes in his last 4 fights in 20+ mins of octagon time?

Yair by decision is a weird pick. You think he wins by range striking? I think Rodriguez decision is by far the least likely option out for that fight, if he wins it'll be via head kick probably, but most of the time I think Frankie outworks him. I'm pretty sure Edgar is my second favourite spot on the card, Joanna was originally but I like Edgar more now even though the lines have moved in my favour on Joanna and against slightly on Edgar

I actually think the Maja fight might be a close one. I understand that it can be fast (KO) or one-sided too but I think Masvidal's wrestling will be too good. We'll see, I just don't see Maja Gnp or holding him down, though he can obviously get a sub on him but I think Masvidal has the experience to stop those. I'm not betting much, and am no way an expert like some of you guys but sometimes you get that gut feeling and that's what I am basing this on as well as I think Masvidal will KO him or win a dec.

Yeah Yair straight up but also Yair by dec, indeed think his range, his youth, his athleticism, the fact that he wanted this fight. Franky can take a lot of damage, sure Yair can KO him too, but I think he'll get a dec here more often. I can't say I disagree with your Franky bet, and sure on paper he outworks him for a dec, I dunno, I'm looking at his last 2 fights, granted vs Aldo but even vs Stephens, he kinda looks off to me.

My best bet I think is Joanna J in R4 or R5 by TKO. I think she stops Jessica late on. Hedged with a R1/2 TKO for Jessica.

watching the start of the Masdival vs Chiesa fight, you would think today about shipping huge sums on Maia.

take a look, instantly brought down in the first few seconds, quite poor actually.

Going to bet Maia here, what's the point of the thread if we don't also take stock of the over all opinon, sure I am a fan of Masdival but this is about Money.

Even Anderson Silva never stepped in, picking circling away from Maia, even he didn't want to know.

Single - Demian Maia vs Jorge Masvidal

So Maia straight up winner, and inside the distance, you have to imagine, maia only needs to get Masvidal back against the cage and his arm around one leg..?

gl every one,

Well, you see how easy Masvidal gets back up, also Chiesa had him in all sorts of trouble, stung and in a choke and Masvidal still defends it, get out easy even while hurt. I doubt Maja will be able to hurt him standing, so Masvidal will be able to defend with clarity. Obv Chiesa aint no Maja on the ground but still!

Is Masvidal really that good? Or is it that he is a nightmare style matchup for Maia?

I only ask because people are acting like he's a world beater and his last three wins at 170 are against two over the hill scrubs and dumbass Cowboy coming off like 3 fights in 4 months.

He is that good, he is good everywhere. When did he ever really lost bad or got dominated? even in his losses he looked good. But as far as him being a favorite to Maia, i'm not sure about that.

It's a bit harder to appreciate his skillset, same with Mousasi, since they often are really calm and cool in their fights, nothing really stands out as excellent, they just got the experience and great fight IQ and overall good game.

I think Demian Maia is a bridge too far for a fantastic Masvidal who is the top of the heap but Maia is the greatest mat guy of all time, along with elite level every place else.

We put our money on Maia here and take our lumps if Masvidal comes out and just blow torches through Maia as a Kazushi Sakuraba Gracie Hunter kind of situation.

Demian Maia has seen all these kind of guys left and right for several years, he is a true master, lets take a stock of the situation, irrespective of who we want to win and think who is going to win.

Masvidal is on a razors edge, Maia not so much.

Gripping fight

Just tuning in now

Good to see Maia steaming in late so my bets in super good

Added 0.5u Edgar ITD +450 and 0.4u Edgar r3 +2200

Just tuning in now, Skelly vs Knights been fun so far, Knights grappling better than I thought, Skelly needs to fight a bit more conservatively from top position going to come down to who has better cardio both seem tired after a round

Oh wow just when I thought the fight was over, Skelly might have stolen the round rocking him at the end. Probably 20-18 Knight still but if we're scoring it on damage... if there had been 15 more secs Knight was hurt and there's a chance it's 19-19

Great performance by Knight, fun exchanges both guys went for it.

I'm down a little bit so far but Aguilar and Skelly were my two smallest bets and Vick was pretty small too, 1-2 so far.

Slightly late stoppage there but not too terrible as I don't think he was ever out cold but it could have been stopped a couple punches sooner

Glad i'm on the same side as Jim on everything except Joanna. I've become a Joanna believer (as of the Gadelha 2 fight) but Andrade is dangerous. I Gadelha and Andrade are the only two who might be able to beat her at 115 but still got Joanna at -150 and that seems fine vs anyone at 115 given her heart and volume striking.

You not hedging with an Andrade KO? Possible Gnp, she got wrestling and possible tko standing too.
