Don't quote me on it, but there seems to be a good edge on the lines of Texeira and Gane @ both near even money.

I made a decent bet on Jones. While Ngannou is pure strength, Jones is obv the much more technical grappler/wrestler. So i think if Ngannou can keep Gane on the ground, Jones wil as well.

My biggest concern was how will Jones look after the 3-year lay-off and the bulking up to heavyweight? Imo he looks incredible in all of the UFC footage on Youtube the last couple of days, both physically and mentally

Different factors to look at with Jones vs Gane.

Jones to win:
-wrestling skills and Gane struggling vs Ngannou
-Jones title fight experience and overall fight experience, where as Gane only has few MMA fights
-Gane never previously matched up with a wrestler.

Gane to win:
-Jones 3 year layoff
-Jones struggling in last two fights, could mean he is declining
-Jones is not as dominant when he doesn't have that big height/reach advantage
-How will Jones peform physically in a new weight class

Alot of the MMA media that I've seen has been on Jones for this fight. I can definitely see the reasoning for it. It's just that I don't think it is that simple to bet the house on Jones here.

I think in his last fights he wasn't that motivated anymore. The lay-off and turning HW gave him new motivation i believe.

I made a normal sized bet on Jones. I did already bet the house on Burns vs Masvidal

Anyone here still keeping up with betting? I was fortunate enough to have a good night yesterday. Although one bet I regret making was taking Romanov, after Ian Parker picked him by decision. During the fight I saw what he looked like, and it was ridiculous. He had packed on some extra weight and looked like a bag of milk. He already had cardio issues in fights previously. I tried to bet the other side and take Volkov, but it was too late.

Looking forward to getting bets lined up for Usman vs Edwards. I'm leaning towards Usman, and leaning towards it going into the later rounds. I'm not too sure about anything else right now, so I'll just wait until the podcasts come out with their picks.

Any recommendations for podcasts?

I like ESPN best bets and Dog or Pass these days. There are definitely alot of other ones out there, but I prefer to keep things simple and just go with a couple, otherwise I can get indecisive on who to listen to if there are conflicting picks.

James Krause use to be on ESPN Best Bets and he was pretty solid with his picks and analysis. Its too bad he got caught up in that betting scandal and isn't on that show anymore.

Hey guys just a bankroll management question for any sports bettors here. What do you guys generally consider to be one unit of your bank roll? I'm sure the amounts, percentages may vary.

Right now, I consider one unit to be about 1% of my bankroll. That is a standard bet size for me. But for more confident bets, I'll obviously go higher and add to parlays. For more casual/fun bets without much confidence, I'll get about 1/2 or 1/3 of a unit.

My normal betting unit size will get adjust up/down depending on any significant gains/losses to my bankroll.

What do you guys do for betting units?

that sounds reasonable

1% system is more for people who don't have other income sources though so if you're doing this for fun then you don't need to follow that rule

ie most recreationals betting $100 units do not have a dedicated fund of 10k sitting in their account

the real strength of having standard units for a rec is it prevents them from monkey tilting where they bet $50 here and there but then just yolo 2k so that yolo goes from whatever money happened to be in your account to you saying "i really like this i'll bet 2 units intead of 1" and you put in more reasonable $100 wager on it

Ya I agree with alot of what you said here Rickroll. Keeping betting units in mind will definitely stop you from max betting your balance because you are chasing or being impulsive. I didn't use the betting unit concept too much lately, but have done so more recently. Ya I agree the biggest benefit to keeping those amounts in mind is that it allows you to be more consistent with your bet sizes, and have to think less about how much to bet.

I recently wrote out amounts for different types of MMA bets I'll make for each event, based on the level of confidence in those, and it really helps to stop me from wasting time figure out how much to bet.

Thank you Izzy for this extra $10 in my account, I knew you could do it.

I took a pretty huge loss following Ian Parker's play's this weekend. He had Izzy/Alex over 3.5 rounds, Yanez/Font over 2.5 rounds and Chris Curtis win as three of his Best Bets. He was 2-3 in his Best Bet picks. He was smoking hot in March, but eventually had to cool off.

I just have to keep my bets balanced and not go too heavy to be able to survive nights like that. How did everyone else do?

I just did a 10 unit bet on Chimaev to win. What do you guys think? You think Khamzat has it locked up or do you think Usman can give him trouble? The short notice is in Chimaev's favour as well as this fight at 185.
