Re: betting lines -400 vs decimal

one of the two -> euro or usa is a simpler and a better approach meaning one of the two is stuck in the dinosaur era. keep it simple.

Re: Low-Content Forum Chatter Thread (Current)

Every day this summer, I think I'm gonna wake up back there on a somber Saturday morning with a full schedule

R&R was the worst
I'd wake up and there'd be nothing to bet

I hardly said a word to my friends, until I said yes to some new accounts

When I was off, all I could think about was betting
And when I was betting, all I could think of was maxing

Back a week now
Some minor skirmishes
But now it's here, the real show

The summer has made me stronger
It has made Peter weaker

He collects honorary degrees and engages in conspicuous philanthropy
His team is arrogant and inexperienced

Last winter darkness hell
$350k below EV
Peter getting fat on my misfortune
But Peter becomes soft and slow
I still remember
Does he?

I wait for him in the shadows
He will be mine

Today it starts.

Square bettor wants to bet me that the Astros win their first playoff series, irrespective of opponent. Anyone want to offer what they think 'fair' odds should be? Thanks in advance.

Re: Low-Content Forum Chatter Thread (Current)

This could be hardest year to pick a world series winner in a long time.

Indians
Red Sox
Yankees
Astros

Nationals
Dodgers
Cubs
Diamondbacks

I mean sure you could just go dodgers but honestly all those teams are pretty stacked. Usually theres like a a couple stinker teams who get roasted in early rounds I don't see that this year.

^Colorado Rockies

I got new interface too, but mine has on option that says: classic site. That lets you go back to the old site. Yours probably has that too.

Re: Low-Content Forum Chatter Thread (Current)

"It was absolute murder — or suicide, whichever way you'd like to look at it. That was the daisy patch."

We remember the one year anniversary of 9/10/2016

It may not have the same historical notoriety as Haralobob's LA Lakers bet, or the famous rsigley "taco" NBA under, but it saw in one day more funds lost than in any other day in our log.

Tens of thousands were lost in the bloodshed. In the aftermath of that day, some suggested that it was reckless, that perhaps those in charge put too many funds at risk, possibly without the proper preparation. However, as time has worn on, hindsight has shown this battle to have been a crucial event in the eventual victory of the 2017 campaign.

The books were not defeated on that day. In fact, our losses were much higher than theirs. But it was on that day that the wound was inflicted. Costa Rica had not lost, but it was at the point clear that they could no longer win. Like a mortally wounded animal that takes a blow and wanders back to its den to lay its body to rest, the books left a bloody trail from September until March when they finally capitulated. And that blow was dealt on 9/10.

While on that day their weak and disorganised lines held up, it was clear they could not sustain such a strategy and still fend us off. Our force was, quite simply, more dedicated and focused on the task, and we showed on that day that we would not back down. We would deliver upon them, blow after blow, a steady stream of positve EV wagers, until they were ruined.

In the celebrations accompanying various advances over the next months, few remembered the events of 9/10 as one of the turning points, but truly, it was on that day that the seeds of financial slaughter were laid in the foundations of various bookies.

The sheer amount of losses were another thing.

"Another line of our bets were placed to follow up — and every one dropped," one gnome said. "A third lot got up — one bet got across, but on a freak final play, it pushed. Every other bet was lost."

Such events lead one inevitably to ponder the nature of death and loss. But what does it mean to die? What does it mean to lose? Just as all of those players are now on different teams, some of those teams may play in different cities, the funds won and lost on that day are now in new places. Now, one may say "You lost on Paul Casey in 2012, and in 2013, and in 2014, in 2015, and you again lose on him in 2017 and you will lose on him again in the future." And one has a point.

But we may alternatively point to the fact that in one year we bet on Michigan, in the next we place our boat in the sea of Ohio State's fortunes, carried by the caprices of one underage Negro's decision to drink or not drink, to commit sexual assault at a campus party, or to not. And so in this endless cycle, we see that any one wager does not possess one continuous soul, for those funds are continually changing hands, back and forth, in the endless sea of variance.

May the funds of 9/10 rest in peace.

Re: Low-Content Forum Chatter Thread (Current)

For those interested in the election of a small time country:

NZ is caught up in a very weird election run-up. Weird because the polls are massively varied- some show the left party (Labour) slightly ahead, others show the right party (National) ahead.
But what the majority of polls do agree on is that the balance of power lies with one minor party (NZ First). Under our MMP system, the winner of this election will depend almost entirely on which of the main contenders (Labour, National) can convince NZ First to join their team.

The leader of NZ First is a guy called Winston Peters. Words cannot describe this guy but here's a clip of him on display:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlcBgR5agFU

It's a weird election to judge from a betting perspective because, aside from scrutinising the polling figures, you need to unlock Winston's mind as to what way he's likely to turn- and the guy is unpredictable at the best of times.

It seems to me that a party called "new zealand first" would stand with the right wing party, no?

You could probably class them as centrists (with a nationalistic tonne.) But the issue is that they are lead by a charismatic and spurious narcissist dressed up as lamb. The outcome of the election and the fate of the country will, if polls are to be believed, rest on the arbitrary wirings of his mind and, more so, on how large a carrot the opposing parties (National, Labour) are likely to dangle in front of him.

As I say, a difficult election to judge. But, NZ being such a small time country, not much is known of this globally.

Re: Low-Content Forum Chatter Thread (Current)

LATE SEPTEMBER, and the march has slowed to a crawl. Just like the campaign of autumn 2016, the enemy has picked a position of strength and dug in. What started with so much hope, bright and fresh young gnomes, unsullied by a season of death and cold, has been stymied. Peter fell for our trap once again and gave battle for several days, only to escape in the subterranean, devious and sneaky way that only he knows. The days grow darker, the rains fall hard, accounts are limited, withdrawals are delayed and our advance is postponed. The new men complain about conditions, but we more experienced soldiers know that this is only the beginning.

The breakthrough that command had hoped for has failed, and it appears, yet again, it will be a long and grueling winter, full of relentless fighting and suffering on all sides. But although this war is brutal, I wouldn't rather be anywhere else but here, alongside my men, to deliver justice and to bring Peter to ruin!
