I got cutoff from my local bookie and he is refusing to pay my recent profits saying that he has paid me enough. Any tips to getting paid in situations like this?

Get a gnome and stiff him for a larger amount.

Snitch on him.

Rob him.

Or do what everyone else does and move on.

this guy gets it.

derek, is there anything you can do to him that's legal, but will make his life hell? how much are we talking about?

my friend and I spent a couple hours one day thinking through every detail on how to get a guy that owed money divorced. we had it nailed down, a beautiful 4-part plan, then randomly he called my friend a day later and paid him and even added a few more bucks. glad we didn't follow through Low-Content Forum Chatter Thread (Current)

Yeah it's only 1100. It's not much but still irks me. I like the gnome idea.

Will you be providing prices with each bet or is each play a "just bet it at any price"?

Re: I am barclass <--obviously online alias

he was a strange man. total oddball, really. never fit in. never quite got it. they called him barclass.

born in 1971, barclass was, like so many of his generation, a mistake; nothing but the product of his parents' lsd experimentation. though the wave of brave new world tenets of sex, drugs and rock and roll had already crashed the year prior, apparently mr and mrs. barclass had not gotten the memo. one particular 1970 binge ran long into the night and ended up in the back room of a dive bar. and so was born barclass.

his parents shared a modest two-story flat with a truck driver and his wife in the hills of tennessee, on the border of the american south. rural tennessee has never been known for its education, but especially not in the mid to late 70s. conservativism was "in," a reaction to the swingin 60s, and with the oil crisis of 1979, the agriculture sector of tennessee was hit particularly hard. education funding was cut even further to account for lost revenue. barclass was only eight years old, and the effects on his intelligence would be dramatic.

barclass' parents never had much of a bond. some said it was love. but those who knew them best knew they only married because of their unintended pregnancy. say what you want about barclass' father, but he really did try. but in 1981 when he lost his job on the farm, it was just too much. he turned to a life of small-scale scams and intermittent drug binges, when he could get his hands on a little meth (referred to as "sparkles," in the parlance of late 70s tennessee). the marriage was already strained when young barclass, only 12 years old, woke up to use the wash room, only to find his father, high on sparkles, standing in the middle of the kitchen, masturbating into the sink. this was the straw the broke the camel's back, and from then on barclass grew up in a single-parent household.

household would be a generous term, of course. without any paternal income, barclass' mother was forced to move into a trailer park. times were so rough that at one point, she searched for methods to re-train herself to produce milk and nurse barclass, now in his early teens. fortunately huffing gasoline and injecting needles into one's nipple does not produce breastmilk, and barclass, despite being malnourished, was spared from having to suck from his mother's teat.

barclass followed in his parents' footsteps and began using drugs at an early age himself. without any real purpose or opportunity in life, it was a natural progression. one of the popular kids, jake tucker, a star wide receiver on the high school football team, introduced barclass to his first toke. suddenly the world seemed so much larger and filled with opportunity and discovery. for the first time in his life, barclass felt optimistic. but only when he was high.

barclass took up guitar, but all he could afford was a ****ty classical from a garage sale. as his skill increased, he wanted something more. it was this more than anything else, that got him into selling. yes, he made a little money. even managed to buy himself a gibson. but after only four months, barclass was ratted out by the very same person who introduced him to pot in the first place. turns out barclass was stealing customers from old jake tucker. barclass' first major lesson in life. don't bite the hand that feeds you.

barclass' mother had had enough at this point, and after using the rest of her savings to pay barclass' fines, she sent him to live with his aunt in florida. now, despite some of the films you may have seen, florida in the mid 80s was not the kind of place you'd want to be living. only the rich and famous could really afford to do the amount of coke you'd want to be doing to be in with the in crowd, not that barclass would have ever fit in with those guys anyway. conveniently, in 1986, a new drug was introduced to the downtown miami scene: crack.

it was a hit immediately, and barclass was hooked. not that he was going to pass anyway, but barclass dropped out of high school, packed up his things, and moved in with two other crack friends, harold and jenny, a couple. against all odds, this actually went alright for a few months. when they weren't at their ****ty, low income jobs, harold, jenny and barclass would sit on the floor in the living room smoking crack at any hour of the night, laughing and lying in all states of disarray. but everything came crashing to a halt when, one night, harold working the night shift, jenny and barclass started fooling around. jenny was not what one would traditionally call a pretty girl, but the combination of crack and cheap perfume was a powerful persuader and one thing led to another.

harold came home to find his girlfriend tangled in the sheets with his roommate, and, needless to say, he didn't take this very well. barclass suffered a broken rib and lost three teeth, which are still missing to this day.

it's unknown what happened to barclass next. some believe he went to california and cruised the coast, possibly even prostituting himself to young gay men in order to afford his now out-of-control crack habit. another rumour suggests that he was making trips to mexico, purchasing prescription drugs and selling what he didn't use at a markup back in the states. the first concrete sighting of barclass after his hospital admission in 1987 has him reappearing in 1997, back in his old stomping grounds of tennessee, accused of domestic battery of his own pregnant girlfriend. without any funds to hire a lawyer, barclass was assigned a public defendant. kevin mccormack was an up-and-coming ambitious attorney, confident and good-looking, desperate to escape the ****hole of tennessee and move to new york or even washington, but even his powerful statements weren't enough to save barclass from prison time. jonny law doesn't have much sympathy for men who attack pregant women, no matter what their reputation.

it is barclass' time in prison which hints back to his whoring days in 90s california. inmates said he was the prettiest thing to come through in a long time, and it was common knowledge that if you wanted to be serviced, all you had to do was make a meager "donation" of a pack of cigarettes or even just the most recent publication of esquire magazine, and barclass was yours for 20 minutes.

we need not go further into the downfall of barclass. suffice to say, things got really bad, for a really long time. but everyone loves a comeback story. in 2012, at the age of 41, barclass finally found the will to get clean. his only remaining friends were dying of disease and overdose, and one night, high out of his mind on everything he could get his hands on, he saw death. it came to him not as a figure, but as an all-ecompassing blackness. completely silent, completely calm, no hate or evil or chaos, just pure black nothing. it's difficult to put into words what exactly barclass saw, but the feeling -- the feeling was pure despair. the terror he felt that night has not been forgotten to this day, and it is what motivates barclass to stay the path.

with no real education, missing teeth, and a below average intelligence, barclass was forced to take the only job he could find. he found himself working in the local walmart in newport, tennessee. unfit for register duty, barclass was in charge of overnight stocking. just barely surviving, barclass could not even afford to stay in a trailer park. rather, for the first three months at his new job, he camped in a park 15 minutes' walk from his workplace. some say it was this experience that hardened barclass into a man. something about slurping cold beans out of a can stolen from walmart in a dark moist tent will encourage the onset of adulthood, especially when it's 20 years past due.

the ascent of barclass continued into 2015. now he had even managed to rent a room in a dilapidated little flat, and had gotten himself a few new friends, clean fellows who, although not educated, managed to hold jobs and some even had families. and this is how barclass met jerry the potato.

jerry the potato, as his name suggests, was a large man, bent over at his back, long stickly arms and legs jutting out of his rotund torso. jerry always wore an old, tacky black leather jacket and acid washed jeans. jerry wore glasses but he didn't like to wear them around clients as he thought it made him look soft, so he was always squinting. jerry was a bookie.

of course barclass had heard stories. gambling was bad. despite his vices, barclass had never even placed a bet. sure, there were friendly wagers of who could finish his pint first, or who could get farther with that girl in high school, small wagers of pride more than anything else. but, with all his friends placing their own bets, jerry joined in, placing his first ever wager on the seattle seahawks to win super bowl xlix. and he almost won too. everything almost turned out alright for poor barclass. he was this close. he could have placed his bet, won it, and all would have turned out okay.

to be continued...
