The decision is much more complicated than a simple "ROI means s***" - are we likely to see opposition etc.? Market profiling, of course, is not that easy.
You're arguing a straw man. Of course anyone with half a clue takes expected ROI into account, you don't need to stalk "The Biggest Syndicates in the World" to figure that out.

Swoop's idiotic claim and Mihkel's rebuttal were referring to actual/realized ROI, not expected ROI.

Didn't Bloom make his fortune running a sportsbook?

I think the key is to buy a book, then buy a syndicate, then claim to be a super sharp. Or something like that.

Is there an actual story on that? That's what it always sounded like to me.

Known scam artist disappears in asia for several years then reappears and claims to be worlds biggest soccer bettor. And runs a syndicate that's looking for investors lol.

Sounds like the european version of Hbob.

I propose a Poogs "well" to celebrate this historic day.

Poogs,

- Lettuce and mayo on a meatball sandwich, yay or nay?

- Hillary or Trump?

- If you had to take one hard drug every day for the next month, what drug would it be?

something to do with the flop I think.

BTW did anyone watch his documentary? It looked like he paid a bunch of family and friends to say nice things about him. Not a bad idea actually. But man is he a ****ing obnoxious ego maniac. His life is like one cringe worthy moment after the other.

-Nay. wtf?? mayo with marinara sauce?? This is objectively a terrible question. Only thing that goes on a meatball sub is meatballs, red sauce and cheese. Meatball subs kinda suck anyway.

-Trump.

-Hmm, interesting. Im assuming the drugs just appear for me every day? Acquiring different drugs is a whole thing in itself, each with its unique challenges.

Coke would be fun for about a week and then awful. So scratch that. Ive never done acid or E but both seem like theyd be too disruptive for every day use, so no on those. Same for meth and crack I guess. Ive never even seen heroin but I have done opiates here and there. If youre careful with the dosage, opiates arent too bad. You can certainly function on them. So i'm gonna go with opiates, assuming thats a hardcore drug.

"ROI is dumb and not used by any professionals". You are speaking absolute s***. Whilst clearly there exists a market/stake size/ROI evolution for most professional gamblers (prop-->main/$xxx--->$xxxxxxx/>7%---><3%), to merely class any measure of ROI as "dumb and not used by any professionals", suggests to me that you are either a) full of s*** & absolutely not a professional, or b) a troll.

You think that StarLizard, Smartodds, FootballRadar etc. would agree with you?

Swoop - Unfortunately, it seems that Mihkel05 is just one bad smell that I can't see going away anytime soon. I guess he's made his million(s) and can now sit back and spend his (valuable) time trolling on here

Except for the astute observation that Mihkel05 (aka thremp) is an abhorrent human being, this post is quite stupid.

Actually it seems like the perceived importance of ROI is a really good litmus test to see if someone knows what theyre talking about.

My ROI is awesome because I bet mostly props. Say I have 10% ROI in a 1k maxed out market, and someone else has 2% ROI betting 50k a game. Who is making more money? Who has the better ROI? Which one would you rather be? Honestly not that complicated. And if you think people are even considering their ROI BEFORE they place a bet then you really dont know wtf youre talking about. Its a fun thing to track and a good metric when comparing your own results in similar markets, but thats about it, as far as I know.

Im doing quite well, thank you for asking.

Gambling has been great, just chuggin along. I taught myself Excel which I should have done a long time ago. I built myself a nice little NHL player props model which performed very good for me for the season. NBA was cake too. Now Im focusing on pitcher strike outs, for which I built another pretty good little model for and am doing quite well.

Been dating a girl for almost a year now and we're in love. Next step is buying a house and living with her! My condo has gone way up in value since I bought it too which is great. Not sure if I want rent it or sell it though. The biggest issue is getting a mortgage though since every time a lender sees "professional gambler" on my w-2s they act like I just took a **** on their desk. So I might need to save up like 50% down payment or something. Thats kind of the worst thing going on right now.

The Ram is getting older, almost 100k miles now, but still running great. I love this truck. I think im a dodge guy for life now.

Im kind of bored sometimes though. I need some sort of project. When I buy a house im gonna build a studio and make some music trent reznor style. I can play guitar, bass and drums, just cant sing.

None of my friends have anywhere near the amount of money or free time that I have, so I find myself alone quite often. Thank god for the girlfriend. I actually golfed alone for the first time a few weeks ago which was surprisingly fun.

So yea...things are good I have to say. How bout you?

also very unrelated but ive wanted to know and you guys are smart maybe youll know. Where did the expression 'chip on your shoulder' come from? I know what it means obv but how did that come about? Did angry people in like 200 BC put an actual chip on their shoulder or something? Ive never gotten a good answer for this question and I just heard dez bryant say it so maybe you guys will know.
08-14-2016 , 11:05 AM
Don't know about you, but I'm happy leaking 100k a year on a guy taking my soft sides and props.
08-14-2016 , 11:46 AM
lol Poogs

all those words asking. I just googled 'origin of chip on your shoulder'

Quote:
The phrase 'a chip on one's shoulder' is reported as originating with the nineteenth century U.S. practice of spoiling for a fight by carrying a chip of wood on one's shoulder, daring others to knock it off. This suggested derivation has more than the whiff of folk-etymology about it.
and previous to that:

Quote:
"A chip on the shoulder" comes from the ancient right of shipwrights within the Royal Navy Dockyards to take home a daily allowance of offcuts of timber, even if good wood was cut up for this purpose. The privilege was instated as a prescriptive right from 1634.[1][2][3] By 1756, this privilege had been abused and was costing taxpayers too much in lost timber for warship repair and construction. The decision was then made by the Navy Board to limit the quantity a shipwright could carry home. A warrant was issued to the Royal Dockyards to reduce the quantity of chips by ordering shipwrights to carry their bundles under their arms instead of on their shoulders, as one could not carry as much timber in this fashion. The specific incident from which the expression derives is as follows:

“ Master Shipwright and his Assistant, Chatham Dockyard, to Navy Board, 17 June 1756.
On Tuesday a petition was brought to the Honourable Thomas Cooper, Esq., Commissioner of this yard, by John Bissenden and Robert Woodriff, shipwrights, in behalf of the whole body of shipwrights, relating to their carrying chips out of the yard on their shoulders. The next day the Commissioner sent for them in the presence of the Master Shipwright and the First Assistant and represented to them the ill consequence of such proceedings, and read to them your Honourable Board's warrant of the 4 May 1753 on which the said two men withdrew the petition and said they would talk to all the people and believe everybody would be satisfied with what had been said to them. And in the afternoon the Master Shipwright sent for all the foremen and quartermen and read the Order to them of the 4th May 1753, and give every quarterman a particular charge to tell all his men separately what the order was relating to their lowering their chips and carrying them under their arm out of the yard.

This day at twelve of the clock some few of the workmen about one hundred and fifty came up first to the gate without any chips, afterwards about twenty more came and lowered their chips agreeable to the Board's warrant. Then came John Miller, shipwright, about thirty feet before the main body of the people, on which the Master Shipwright ordered him to lower his chips. He answered he would not, with that the Master Shipwright took hold of him, and said he should. He, the said Miller replied, 'Are not the chips mine? I will not lower them.' Immediately the main body pushed on with their chips on their shoulders, crowded and forced the Master Shipwright and the First Assistant through the gateway, and when out of the yard give three huzzas.[4]

Somehow you still don't really understand the fundamental problem. I'm sure his life goal is to ship you 100k+ a year.

Also, who is sending you a W2?
