i think mightytiny's point is a lot of people have done a lot worse then BW and not got a single day in jail

Until I actually read the indictment I figured he somehow would beat the rap 100% but yeah, he's dead money in a trial. Also, since the feds hate him as a result of their total BS cases in the past, he's getting close to whatever the max is.

well the wallstreet people that damn near bankrupted the economy did get caught we just didn't do anything to them. You're right the guy going 70 in a 60 is still speeding but it's kinda silly when that guy losses his license for a year when the judge just gave some guy that was doing 110 drunk community service. I'm not saying BW shouldn't pay for his crimes i'm saying it's an obvious witch hunt

I haven't followed this case at all, so excuse the two noob questions.

1. Why didn't Walters just take a few mil and flee the country and live out his days somewhere like Switzerland?

I just don't get why Walters would make these trades through his own accounts.

Yeah me and a friend were discussing that yesterday, why wouldn't he use a friend's account.

Also why in world did Mickelson do something so shady to make a million dollars when he's worth let's assume 300+.

Maybe because of his 2-0 record I think he honestly thought he could beat the charges (insider trading cases are actually pretty tough to prove and obviously guilty people have been let off in the past) so he decided to gamble instead of fleeing. The problem is that while in all three cases there was no reason for a prosecution other than a money grab by the federal government, he actually appears to have broken the law in this case.

I don't know why he'd trade on his own account in such an obvious manner. Like, if he had traded for only 1 percent of the volume in this stock instead of one third and occasionally threw in a couple intentional losers, he would have never been caught. It's the sort of thing that makes one think he wasn't guilty even though the evidence seems so clear cut. My guess is that his businesses hadn't been doing particularly well and he actually needed the money. The same thing for Phold.
