How accurate is the data on sites tracking public bets?

I am trying to get eyes on the percentage of the public on games, but I noticed today that this data fluctuated wildly in short amounts of time. So, is it inaccurate or pulling an insignificant amount of data? Is this data accurate very close to game time?

Lol don't waste time. Trust me on this. Looking at those numbers to have your pick(s) ... you're on the road to ruined.
