hey,

i was thinking of trying to bet races. what's the best site to use as a US customer?

my priorities are...

1. 18+ yrs old

1. Guaranteed reliability. I can cashout a check, and receive it within 2-3 weeks every time.

2. I want to be able to watch the races I bet on. Get programs for any races I want to bet/other good information one might need as a bettor

also, this is probably a dumb question. but are there people who make 6-7 figures yearly on a consistent basis betting races?

IMO right now Skill for a wagering service it would be Twinspires.com. Youbet just merged with them, another option is Xpressbet.com,i just prefer Twinspires myself. Have good video to all tracks they offer, plus free PP's if you bet a min of $2 on the track you get the PP's from. They have ezmoney (echeck) for buy ins and cashouts back to bank accnt ACH style. Greencard reloadables also easy enough, and checks within 10 days. Hope that helps.

Yes, +1 to Twinspires.

Also, they have a video library. Just click the little camera icon next to the horse's name and you can watch his/her past races. Sometimes you just need to see the race instead of only looking at the PPs.

There's a horse tomorrow at Finger Lakes Race 6 ($6500 claimer) called Propensity (#6). Don't ask me why I have this horse keyed up in my stable, but... I do.

Morning Line is 3 to 1, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop to 2 to 1 or slightly worse. Has a good running style and clearly likes Finger Lakes.

Propensity has been racing these low level claimers recently with some decent success. The distance is certainly not any trouble at all. He was odds on last race, didn't get the greatest trip and got beat by a horse that ran wire to wire. Two races ago, he got a terrible break, but still rallied for the W at 6 to 5. He has raced is some much bigger races in his career and I think he has finally rounded into form. I am putting in a conditional wager at anything better that 8 to 5 to win. I think this horse is "hidden class" and could be considered the best of the field tomorrow.

It is safe to say that none of the runners in that race have any balls.

It kicks off the late .50 pick four.. let's single him!

Get some ammo for thursday's $99k pick six carryover @ Hollywood!

No, held in the back of the pack until final turn, sorta stuck in traffic, got up into 2nd, but not even close to having enough gas to catch the 3 before the finish. Finished a few lengths back. I didn't catch the length of the race, but if it were a longer race, I suppose he could have outlasted the 3.

bah, sorry I forgot to talk about this earlier, forgot completely. My friend cashed in the ticket today, tax was about 30%.

Uh, my original ticket was first 3 races singles, then doubles for the next 3. $8 ticket, and one of my horses got scratched so i ended up getting the favorite twice, and it came in. So i won the pick 6 twice I guess, but there was no 5/6 anyways

(drinking right now, sorry for poor details)

Yeah, the 3 battled through a half mile of like 47.2 or something.. I thought he'd soften up but, Propensity was just too far back.. he really hit stride in the last 1/16th but, I don't think he catches Spanky even if they went 6f, tbh. He's has to be quicker to the 1/4. Depending on how he came out of the race, I'd drill him 3f handily and come back at same level in a couple weeks.

That's a $16 ticket. But, hit twice! Sick returns! The pick-6 paid $2176. If you hit this twice it is still under $5k. Anything over $5k is subject to an automatic 27% IRS takeout.

How did you get taxed 30%? I don't know about your state tax laws but, here in NY, anything between $600-$4999 they don't take anything but, you get a "signer" and must file it.

Also, nobody liked my link in post #2433?

it was an $8 ticket because it was a $1 pick 6, which mountaineer does offer! And since it was a $1 pick 6, and the payout for $2176 was listed for $2, I won half of it twice, or basically the full amount. If I had gotten a $16 dollar ticket instead, it should pay out the same amount since I took the entire pool anyways. So doesn't matter either wya.

here in CT they tax and file it immediately if it's over $600.

oic, no wonder i never see carryovers at MTN!

Woodbine used to offer a $1 pick seven, I thought that was interesting. Better than a $1 pick six, imo. (for carryovers)

youbet is now twinspires. going to have to learn a whole new interface...

so now instead of wasting time handicapping and losing, I can waste time figuring out the intricacies of the website, handcapping, and losing.

any pros/cons to twinspires (features, tips, etc.) that anyone wants to share?

I use the classic interface. You can get free PPs as long as you wager at least $1 on that card. Also, click the little camera icon next to a horse on the program and you can view that horse's past races from the video library. Click the camera icon next to the track name to view the live video.

Twinspires is the absolute nuts.
