So in Thursday's 7th at Belmont Souper Butterfly is running. Ive had this one on my watch list. I made a good score on this one a couple back. Last time she got a bad ride and finished 4th at 9-1. (didn't have a bet) I see she is 8-1 on the morning line with Garcia up. This is a 25knw3l on the turf... Anyone with the pp's yet? Her last race was an open 25k? Is there pace to run at? If she moves up does she have a shot and do you think she will be around 8-1. I work nights so I'd have to get up early to make a bet but I'm thinking it might be worth it. If it's a good spot she's a must use in that pick6 carryover! If anyone could help I'd appreciate it. Thanks
there's also a chance it'll get rained off but forecast says rain after 3est - race is at 411est. Obv no bet then

This ^^^

I wrote about the takeout increase about 3 weeks back that are coming to Cali also,up 15% from the previous years takeout, absolute bs imo also. This is why i only play carry's at any NY track,or on big days like the Belmont etc...

Ive always had this picture in my head of ol Uncle Sam sitting next to me top hat on and stars and stripes shirt and pants, while im rooting on my last leg winner of the PK6 i scream "I just nailed the PK6,and ol Unlce Sam says back to me,"I just did too" uggg...Take out is 25%,then take out the taxes for anything over $600

I believe the lowest takeout is in Kentucky at about 19%

Try to get some info about your horse by Thursday Pdx,wont look at the PP's there till tomorrow evening.

are there any legit/enforcable "buy a share" opportunities out there for pick 6 carryovers where you know the tickets ahead of time to cheer on horses?

So im at the turf club today (philly OTB), im down like 120. I got 80 left on me i say F it, im playing some big tri's with some longer than usual shots on top........

So Finger Lakes is 2 MTP Race 8 , I gave one look at the book and liked the 1 horse.....

I play 1-76531-76531. BOOM I hit it the tri for $1.

1- went off 10-1
7- went off 11-1
6- went off 50-1 ( Maybe a lil higher cant remember)

I only get 733.00 ????????? Beat both chalks, basically three longest shots on board. How can that be??? before they posted the official prices my heart is pounding thinking i jsut made 1500-2000 at LEAST. needless to say I felt like I got robbed, or the fix was in (typical at finger but their tri's usually pay decent.) Any help appreciated......
The pool was $31k, trifecta takeout is 25%, the $1 payout was $733.

So after takeout the pool is ~23k and you were one of about 33 winning $1 tickets.

Twinspires has these from time to time with large carryovers and/or guaranteed pools.

I don't know if they are doing one for belmont's carryover but, you can bet your butt that they will be for Breeder's Cup.

man american horseracing is sooooo complicated, u bet on crazy things. In UK and Ireland (best racing in the world btw ;-) ) things are far more easier and straightforward.

Going to pass on tomorrow's PK6 carry at Belmont,i am not a mud/wet capper at all. Tomorrow at Hollywood looks interesting with half the card being baby races.

Pdxmike GL on your horse tomorrow, and to be honest if you like him then put a wager on him,who cares what anyone else thinks, you obv have watched him run before and know more of the horses history than most. I spent my 1st year listening to everything that TVG,and HRTV said, and they helped me out a ton,but over the past 3 years i dont listen to anyone to be honest,i trust myself. I still watch HRTV,never TVG,and have selective hearing when i do,but most of the time i watch the volume is muted.

I was just curious if it was a decent spot...It's a pain in the ass for me to make the bet.
Wasn't sure if it was a class drop or not. Hmmm maybe it'll bE rained off anyway

Why is it a PITA? I know your state,if WA is where your from,is not restricted to say a Youbet,orTwinspires account.

Well I'm usually asleep then because I work nights. Otherwise, yeah I probably should deposit some money in my youbet account - especially since I can no longer play poker on pokerstars (such a ****ing joke). I haven't had an active horse betting account in years. I usually just go to emerald downs for off track betting on occasional Saturdays

Gotcha Pdx,you should check out the conditional wagering they offer, and you can always place the wager when you get home, say 8 or 9 am pst,and put the bet in,and if your horse scratches it goes back into your account. Ya being in WA is a bummer for ya for PS,not PS's fault i dont believe,i think more with them in power in your fine state....The puppets in charge in WA state are just trying to save your soul for ya,because you cant determine yourself what morals to live by. I really wish the Gov't would expand a little more and take the decision making away from us on anything all together, what a relief that would be.....As Forrest said, "One less thing"

Does anyone else hate watching TVG. They list several tracks on the screen, yet only show the 1 track they are featuring that day. The worst is on big race days, theyll spend 15 mins talking bout the big race while other races are going on, then they'll show the race on tape delay. For me watching the races is one of the biggest thrills of playing the horses. and TVG takes that away. It feels like to me they cater to the casual racing fan, not hardcore bettors. I would cancel it but its the only place to watch the Cali tracks, where I live in ny its blocked out on the racing channel--

So I am going to open an online betting acct, and because I've watched TVG I was thinking thats the place to go but you guys mention Youbet and TwinSpires, decisions decisions. Do all three sites get decent traffic?

OK I will try and help you both out here Brooklyn, and Stugar.

Brooklyn,i never watch live racing on HRTV,or TVG,i ALWAYS watch it on Calracing.com,register and its totally free for all Cali tracks,or i watch them on my Youbet or Twinspires account. Calracing and the 2 betting services i mentioned show the same feed you would have if you were doing simulcast wagering on track.

Stu,where to open a wagering account is a personal preference. I use Twinspires, and Youbet myself. I wouldnt use TVG for a damn thing myself.
What happened to you fighting the temptation to open an online wagering account?

Too many months away from the next season here at EMD. I don't have much free time lately between school and work, but when I do I am either watching races or talking about them. Also I am no longer allowed to play on pokerstars and am self excluded from FTP through January, so I gotta get my fix.

Thank you for the advice.

Kev,

Thanks for the reply and breaking down the pool for me. In your opinion is it unusual for that tri to have 33 winning tickets? i have seen so many huge tri's at finger, even with chalks in then and the same type of field. GL boys, think i will put up some Belmont tri's tomorrow and if i hit one, a pick 6 ticket as well.

I don't know if that is common or not for the finger. That 3rd horse was 60:1, if he snagged 2nd instead of third i bet you'd have like 10 winners. If the #1 jumped out at you in the form, maybe the trifecta players saw the same thing and wheeled in a similar fashion.

I haven't played finger since Nicol and the polish kid (i forget his name) were owning the jockey standings. Dominguez was solid in the "feature" races (usually restricted allowances)

kev,

Thanks, that makes sense about the 3rd horse getting 2nd, would have made it 3x bigger at least. Finger is like my 100th favorite track but it was between Keenland races and im an action junkie. I think you mean Grabowski up at finger, he did own for a while up there i remeber him well.

1.) 3-7-5
2.) 7-2-3
3.) 5-2
4.) 8-1-10
5.) 7-1-5
6.) 3-7-5
7.) 3-7-6
8.) 10-2-5

Today's card again is half baby races, but there does seem to be some value to be had.

Well my 8-1 shot opened at 5/2. Fortunately I'm live to the 7 in the pick3 for $450 so I don't have to bet a ton to win. For the first time in my life I hit the all button and caught a big price. 68$ winner in the previous race

didn't run a lick

No way i had the 1A in the last, was alive to the 2,5,10 in the late PK4 and PK3. So with my early PK4 loss, and the late PK4 and 3 i ended up -63 for the day. Small PK6 carry tomorrow of 55k.

How did that Calracing work out for ya Brooklyn? It's the only way to go imo for a serious player.

7) 3,5,7,8
8) 3,4,5,7,9,12
9) 3,4,5

$108

OTH:
1) 1
2) 2,3,4,5,6
3) 3,4,7
4) 1,2,3,8
$30
