Looks like a good card value wise all the way around tonight imo. Playing both PK 4's,and rolling the card with pk 3's.
Good luck Honch!

Use the #5 Garcia/Mulhall in the finale... I her barn. Her runners always give top efforts. 8:1 ML is nice.

SoCal has some horse shortage atm, these fields are thin.

Harness boy checking in...with a brag TR.

I spent this afternoon in the air conditioning playing Monticello. The section where I sit is populated by classic track junkies. The retired. The disabled. The socially challenged. I love it.

The beauty is I was the only guy playing Monticello - excepting one very old fellow who refuses to discuss or share his picks with anyone. He plays almost exclusively pick-3s. He also loves rooting against you if he hears you calling for a horse. He is also nearly blind and never knows the results after they cross the line, he must only watch the numbers on the bottom of the screen. So much fun!

First race hit exacta and trifecta. Played 2-4 on top of 1-2-4.

4-FUTURE FAN (Michael Merton) 7.80 3.00 2.60
2-UNDERSKY TORPEDO (Gregory Merton) 2.50 2.50
1-GATEWAY JET (Jordan Stratton) 2.50
EXACTA 4-2 26.40
TRIFECTA 4-2-1 59.00

Second race hit trifecta. Played 6 with 2-4 with all. 6 was coming off a nice qualifier and had big time back class. The horse looked done with 1/8 mile to go, then won with a big rush on the outside! Exciting finish. Ding ding.

As I was smooching the 6 horse home the old guy was yelling for the 6 to fall down. Guess he didn't have the horse covered in his pick-3.

6-SHANDO HANOVER (Kevin Hough) 10.60 3.90 5.20
2-LISA MARIE'S DREAM (James Marohn) 2.50 2.60
5-FOX VALLEY PRIMO (Brandon Simpson) 5.00
EXACTA 6-2 29.60
TRIFECTA 6-2-5 102.00

Third race hit exacta. Very disappointing payout. I played the 8 horse and key boxed with five horses. So $20 returns just $38?! For real? 7-8 on a half mile track? Ugh. However 3-for-3! Go trotter.

7-MT VERNON HANOVER (Bruce Aldrich Jr) 10.80 4.70 4.30
8-TWIN B IMPACT (Michael Merton) 7.90 5.90
5-BELL VALLEY BANKER (Jordan Stratton) 3.90
EXACTA 7-8 38.20
TRIFECTA 7-8-5 275.50

Fourth race there was no getting rich. Just played a Bettor's Delight horse on top in a cheap trifecta. Too bad I was not in the superfecta pool. Then again I probably would not have "all" on the ticket for fourth.

2-JAKE OF DIAMONDS (Bruce Aldrich Jr) 4.20 3.00 2.40
4-FIFTH STREET (William Parker Jr) 6.20 4.30
3-WINDSUN FIRE N ICE (Michael Forte) 2.60
EXACTA 2-4 26.20
TRIFECTA 2-4-3 51.00
SUPERFECTA 2-4-3-8 992.00

Fifth race was awesome. By now all the losers around me were getting pissed because I was cashing every race. Most of them were playing short fields in the slop at Delaware Park and Philly Park. The desperate were playing Fairmount Park. Lol.

I announced that "I had no good feeling on this race, but rather than pass I figured it was time for Billy Parker to win one...so I am playing the 2 horse." I proceeded to announce I was playing 2-5-all and 2-all-5. Tee hee hee. Surprisingly good payout with the rail horse in third.

2-BLUERIDGE HALL (William Parker Jr) 4.10 2.90 2.10
5-NO SHENANIGANS (Kevin Hough) 3.20 2.20
1-BUCKS MACHINE (Cedric Washington) 4.00
EXACTA 2-5 9.30
TRIFECTA 2-5-1 87.50

Side story. The track is offering a little lunch buffet. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn, etc. for $5. One of the guys is seen carrying back an enormous plate full of food, more than he could ever eat in a day! Hidden in his other hand? Six slices of bread. He proceeds to make three also-ran sandwiches for his buds. Hey, he is down $13!

Sixth race I key in on the one horse. 11-1 on the board with five mtp! He has run 6-7-6-8 in his last four races...time for a wake up call. Again I announce "I am betting the one horse across the board and I am playing it with 3-6-7-8."

One guy in a classic white tee shirt says "have you missed one yet?" I say no. He announces "a guy who is five-for-five at Monticello likes the one horse. I think I should bet the one horse."

Just then this jinx named Bill walks up and says "hello. You doing any good?" "Get away from me and do not touch me!" So close to the end...

The one horse settles into fourth at the rail. Nearing the half mile mark in the race Simpson pulls him to the outside and brushes right past the leader and runs away on the front...holding on to win by 1/2 length. OMG LOL.

Funny: one of the guys played 1 with 3-6-7 and threw out the 8 horse. OMG LOL.

1-HAPPYENDING (Brandon Simpson) 13.20 6.00 5.50
8-TATTOO HALL (Bruce Aldrich Jr) 16.20 7.20
7-GOLD COMET (William Parker Jr) 3.00
EXACTA 1-8 257.00
TRIFECTA 1-8-7 690.00

Seventh race I took a shot. She bucked me!

I finished up somewhere around $750 - nice win since my one day budget is $120.

American horse racing drives me crazy. No idea what all these numbers are supposed to mean.

In my simple world you just back a horse to win or to place.

Lots of money to be made in exotics. It is good to explore all of pools if you are a value hunter.

Nice hit TripleH!

I'll never understand rooting against people.. wtf?

Some people wallow in negativity.. if I can't win, then why can't the next guy?

I like to see people cash.

Mohawk Thursday July 15th

Race 5 #7 Prodigal Seelster

Improved over 7 seconds from his qualifier but was only ready to pace in 153.1 home in 26.3 for a third place effort behind wrapped up winner Lyons Elite. This horse will have to step up again tomorrow night but if he goes off around his 12-1 ml hopefully higher he is a play. Do not leave him out of your win 4 tickets!

It is standard to see these haters. Believe it or not a lot of the time they are older men in off-track establishments, lol.

Mohawk is a quality standardbred track in Canada. Runs when Woodbine in carding flats. I would say the quality is akin to Meadowlands harness.

There was always a guy at my place named Checkbook Dave. I got conflicting stories on how he got the name. I think he never had any money on him - but always carried his checkbook?

Anyway he was the type who talked about every longshot prior to each race, then would root home whatever one happened to be running well and say "I told you I liked that horse! Blah blah blah." Your ears would bleed after a few races sitting by him.

Well I used to sit in the thoroughbred section and put my one television on harness(I know). I am rooting home the one horse to hit a nice pick-3 and he open up by four lengths at the head of the stretch at Freehold. No sooner than CD says "you got it easy" the horse breaks stride!

I wanted to strangle the life out of him.

Kevroc's breakdown of the Hollywood Park friday night late pick four, enjoy...

Quote:
RACE 5 Maiden Claiming $22.5/25k 3yo & up 6f Synth

1) Truco- Debut was in Oct '09, hasn't raced since. Jockey is 0 for 45, would be a shocker.

2) Paseo de Ramon- 4yo made debut on June 6th, chased a hot pace 6 wide into the turn and lost all chance. He worked 4f in :46.2 H on July 11th which was the best of 62 that particular morning. Hard to put him on top but, perhaps a saver win bet at a huge price and I love Joy Scott, always gives a big effort.

3) Souvenir Summer- Has had prior gate troubles and will need to make up ground. The cutback in distance helps but, second money at best in my opinion.

4) Olympic Magic- Consistent Ron Ellis gelding is sitting on a win, he just needs the right field. Unfortunately, there is a lot of speed in here and this one is never gaining at the wire. Expect a pop and fade type trip. Pass.

5) Mikethedealer- Firster from a small barn. Rider is 1 for 36. Workouts are very pedestrian. Pass.

6) Cookin Expresso- This one has the most zip but, can't seem to hold it. Gonna be really tough to outlast the field here. Cutback in distance adds bottom but, he spent entire 3yo season on the shelf after assumedly injuring himself as a 2yo at DMR. Small win bet at 20:1 or better.

7) Aeromon- 3yo has a nice stalking style, gets Bejarano up and if he runs back to either of his last two figs, he should score.

8) Tunasity- 4yo firster from unknown barn, workouts show nothing at all.

9) Gold Schleiger- Mullins 4yo Lemon Drop Kid colt is one of only two in the field that hasn't been gelded. Mike Baze debuted him at Santa for 45k MSW and had decent support at the windows. He then tried a mile on the grass and got 2nd beat 2 lengths by Meteore who went on to score again in his next outing. He ran a huge 102 Equibase fig that race. Next, he ships to Churchill and tries a stretchout to 1 1/16th on a sloppy dirt track. Clearly, he didnt like it and may have even hurt himself because he goes on the shelf for 13 months and then tries mdn claimers at Hollywood going 6f on June 18th. He goes off as the favorite in a field of 9 and runs a game 3rd. My view is that he probably needed that one and I love him tonight. Tyler up.

10) Flemingstouchogold- Silverio Martinez firster shows paltry works and 1 for 53 Gihua in the irons. No thanks.

11) Justice Reigns- Kasparoff 5yo is 0 for 15, was soundly beaten by Aeromon on June 23rd. Pass.

12) El Navigante- This 4yo ran four microsprints as a 2yo and has been on shelf ever since. This is clearly a workout in company for a tag.

13) Kopriti- Lightly raced 4yo had his debut on July 1st. Didn't show much but, is working out nicely. To score versus these from the 13 hole is a tall order. Could sneak into tri's and super's as pace chasers peel away in the stretch.
Quote:
RACE 6 Starter Allowance $26k Fillies & Mares 3yo & up N2L one mile Turf

1) Mystery Bird- I like Paddy Gallagher but, stretching an extra half mile and trying grass for the first time seems a bit ambitous here. She is on the rail though, so if she takes to the grass and Talamo can keep her calm, maybe she can run 'em down. Not using in my pick fours but, possibly a win bet at 5:1 or better.

2) Westwood Pride- Fits perfectly in the condition and is the only one with a win over the grass (albeit Calder). Ran a career high figure in last race over this oval missing by a head after a freshener. Bejarano chooses this one over Melbisha. Must use.

3) Back Nine Doc- Second try on grass for this 3yo filly. Doesnt show nearly as much talent as some others in here. With only a few days left in the meet, I fear that O'Neill may be throwing dice with some of his entrants to try to secure his lead in the trainer standings.

4) Stormy Anna- Van Berg is running this one into the ground! To think she fits with these is a stretch.

5) Sheeza Beast- If you like Westwood Pride, you gotta love Beast. Second time turf, was just a head behind WP when WP ran second on June 23rd and was off a beat slow to boot. Must use.

6) Melbisha- First time turf for this 3yo Neil French filly. She has Mt. Livermore on the dam side so its not a stretch, however Bejarano off and five second place finishes in ten lifetime races makes me think that she could be a seconditis pack horse. More evidence of that is that the race she won was by over a length with a 4 wide move. Anytime she has to close tight in the lane, she fails to pass. I can't play her with any confidence.

7) Argenta- This 4yo Mineshaft filly is another O'Neill runner. Her win came as a 2yo on the synthetic at Oak Tree. She caught a slow six horse field and wired them. No such luck tonight.
Quote:
RACE 7 Allowance $43k CA Bred Fillies & Mares NW$/N2L 6.5f Synth

1) Torrey Cliffs- 4yo Knapp filly is fresh and has some pace to run at. Only 1 for 13 and gets negative rider switch to Blanc. I'd make a saver win bet at 10:1 or better.

2) Warren's Got Game- 3yo filly won her debut coming off the pace at 80:1. Is fresh and has pace to run at. However, I don't think she catches lightning in a bottle twice. I'm taking a chance against.

3) Tenacious Tina- Never worse than 2nd, this speedball will take them as far as she can. Logical player.

4) Missdealornodeal- Another speed, this Carla Gaines filly is fresh and retains Bejarano. Must use.

5) Perfect Vintage- 5yo Bertrando filly is a possible seconditis type whose last win was Feb '09 in frontrunning fashion at Santa. That's not happening tonight. Also, has been on the shelf since November. Pass.

6) Can't Topper- Anything put out by Mike Mitchell can't be ignored. He is 22 for 60 at the meet. This 3yo filly is a stalking type who has been the public choice in all three previous outings. She ran 3rd in debut under Rosario while getting a bit snug a furlong out, and has scored twice in a row under Tyler. Going for the hat trick.

7) SCRATCHED

8) Victory Dancer- 4yo Victory Gallop filly has been popular at the claim box. She has visited the barns of Baffert, Peter Miller, Bill Spawr and now Van Berg. Since Jack's claim, he has tried grass claimers both short and long. Now he has freshened her and is running a state-bred allowance. Overzealous? I don't think so! I'm using her at what will be a great price.

Kev please dont encourage this.....We will have 3 post pages....I like Discreet, but he does the same thing too....Boils down to a whole bunch of hot air to be honest. Cant we just assume us reg know how to cap. I always assumed before that when you put your plays in here that process was already completed and we just post the white meat.

Imean ofcorse i break it down as you do as well, but if someone asks me why,im not going through all that,my answer is always going to ,because its who i like period....Think ive prooven myself more than capable at capping.

You have also, your just struggling a little at the moment.

Ryan i havent lol this hard in awhile....Im not trying to be a dik i promise, though i know i come off that way sometimes....So to just tell you straight out no one will be playing your plays....You have 5 post and 3 plays, but infered to your last post sorry if some one backed your posted play.....Myself i know i have given out at least 15-20k in combined PK 6's,4's,and 3's,let alone several individual higher end wagers, and i will and never once expect or want anyone to follow what i say, even with the credibility i have earned. Kev has himself done as much with his posted plays as myself, and also expects everyone to trust there own capping ability and has explained as much several times also. So in the theme of Kevs last post i have given the breakdown why it struck me so funny.

Wyman,i understand your point just fine, and to each there own. If i would give my breakdown of the races,im sure i would get several private messages which include several 800 help lines for insanity ...Serious i got some weird ways, and as hard as Ryan made me lol i am sure i could cause the same. My sheets look like a cross of hieroglyphics and ******ation that met,
Tons of truth to that, then i use what i know now (sheets) which maybe i throw 10% stock to and what i have saw and remembered from previous races. Like ive said several times i remember crap well for some damn reason,i can just see it if that makes sence. Not saying it makes me smarter, because i still give english hell sometimes, just hard to explain how it helps me cap and i put 90% at least stock in what i know, and saw,and remember.

When i saw Kev's long long post,my first impression was he thinks he needs to be validated still about his capping ability, and his running total. I know it takes guts to keep a running active total as he does, and i still have no doubt his 5k will be wiped away soon and will be back in the plus very soon,he's too good a capper. The only thing i see as an outsider is he is a 4l mod, takes time away, and also hes on several tracks making plays, when he would before only concentrate on so cal,and occasional Ny play. But thats just a friends observation. Honestly when i saw the long post from him i said 'YA YA YA Wheres the picks" meaning i trust what he says because i know he knows how to cap,and respect his capping ability. I though understand Wymans point also, theres more than me in this thread,i forget this sometimes

Also im not speaking of chasing the 6 carrys at diff tracks Kev either,we all do that.

Trying to take it easy till DelMar,last 2 years it has been my most profitable track. Will pass opening day till i get the report on the track condition, and there water schedule in between which races.
