Good effort by First Dude, wish I had put Drosselmeyer higher up to place switched with MM4M, but that's horse racing.

After all these years, it still gives me chills when I think about it or see a clip or photo of it. Greatest physical performance by a living creature ever imo. Kinda sad my sporting event viewing peaked when I was 7, but it's worth it.

Also unbelievable that he still holds the Derby record as well. Sick freak.

Remember he'd have the Preakness record as well if the teletimer hadn't malfunctioned.

Am I the only one who thinks that Velazquez cost Fly Down a 2-3 length win here?

Trumpet Player Jay today in race 5 at HOL; third race off the layoff with Tyler Baze on him = perfect spot (we'll see...)

It's not part of either pk4, so I'm probably going ~$20 WP if he is anywhere from 4-1 or better. I have a feeling he might be higher than his ML of 6-1 though, so there could be some good value.

Honch, Call me Honcho had ANOTHER solid race yesterday. nipped at the wire for 2nd place and almost got 1st. What a horse, seems like he can hang at any condition...

On a side note, it is my inclination that the hardest part of horse racing is staying away from betting too many races. I must be an action junkie, so I need to practice discipline a little better. For instance, yesterday I hit the Daily Double with Winchester/Drosselymeyer for $298. After all the other stupid bets I made throughout the day, my daily total was +$11!!

Today, I'm going to stick to 2 tracks only, Monmouth and Hollywood. Will play the .50 pk5 (maybe) and some rolling DDs and pk3s if I see value. I'm going to slow down my horse play over the next few months, will probably pick it up when Saratoga opens.

Gl all.

I was wondering myself if he forgot the object of the whole thing was to pass under the wire first. He looked unsure of whether he had enough horse and was waiting and waiting and waiting...though I have an untrained eye.

Yesterday was horrible. Went to Arlington, lost my wallet, with $350 cash inside, credit cards, social sec card, birth certificate, license, insurance cards etc....then dropped $300 on yesterdays races.

Split this ticket with my father in law

Monmouth P.5 (50 cent)
6) 1,2,3,4,7,8
7) 3,5
8) 1,3,4,5
9) 2,3,4,6,8,9
10) 1,4

$288

Got home, reviewed our ticket, and see we left off the 7 horse, Dutrow horse, in the 9th race. Im gonna add another small ticket on Xpressbet in a few. Will post when I come up with it.

Jay

Good Luck All! Hope today is better than yesterday....

Bailed on Belmont Park for Borgata's race book/poker room. Prior to the Belmont Stakes, the room was very accommodating, but a series of 4 2nd place runs left me low for the big one.

Of course, Fly Down ran 2nd again, and I packed it up to come back to NY. No pics this year, no cashes this year, TC days killed me this year ...

almost $1M pk6 carryover at Belmont tomorrow. I'm considering it, looked at the PPs this evening, but am kind of drained from watching my Celtics lose tonight.

Seems like I might be able to do a decent ticket for less than $250. Not sure if I'll play it. If I play it, I'll post it early tomorrow morning.

gl to all that play it.

How does a track decide to pay 5-6 or 4-6 on a Pick 6? It seems like today at Hollywood they are going to pay a 4 or 5 out 6 ticket plus have a carryover? I may be misunderstanding, but confused.

6 of 6 gets 70% of pool
5 of 6 gets 30% of pool

on days when no one picks 6..

70% carries over
30% is spread among tickets with most winners
(this can be 5, 4 or even 3 of 6)

I know someone in the connections of uptowncharleybrown and it looks like they are pursuing a $1M lawsuit against the NYRA regarding the saddle issue they had in the Belmont.

This should be interesting.

could be wrong, but i
thought i read somewhere, that the trainer was taking full responsibility for the weight falling out. also, didn't the horse originally finish 5th before being DQed? 5th place probably only worth 50k or so???

From what my source told me.. the NYRA stablehand is to blame and the colt finished 5th for 30k but, he lost his weights at a cruicial time and lost all chance of a rally and a "potential" Belmont score with can be worth even more than the actual purse.

not to beat a dead (DQed) horse...(pun intended) but in the story i read the trainer said he received the saddle gear from the valet, but it was his (trainers) sole responsibility from that point on. if the trainer actually said what was written, it wouldn't seem like a lawsuit would have much of a chance. who knows.
wouldn't less weight be helpful??

glad it's not my problem.

Yes Jack, less weight would be....lol....why he was added additional weight because he came in under.....I read the same article about the trainer taking resp,he really has no choice but to.....its not the 30k placing money that concerns the connections of this colt, its the sire money for a legit finish that could of brought in some more serious coin, would imagine thats what its based on in part. NYRA needs this right now too
