I have no clue who to pick in the oaks.

I see 6 horses with legitimate shots at winning.

I think the race is a pass for me, which feels weird, because I've been really good at this race over the years.

I am going to review all of the wagering options for Derby and see if some of the other pick 3/4/5 options make more sense for what I am trying to accomplish.
I like south lawn, botanical, and wet paint. Maybe throw in another good price. Idk wet paint prolly wins but hate those late running horses going against top class filly’s first time. Hmm I say play the double - oaks kd bc it’s such value. I love getting through the oaks and having a potentially fat payout with a few derby horses. I’ll hammer the oaks derby double and hope I get through the oaks with some solid will pays for the derby.

Derby thoughts- I like Angel of empire and mage. Angel of empire is prolly my top pick but mage with clean trip could be fire. Think AOE is better bet bc he doesn’t need to break and will have late run with 3 great late pace speed figs in his last three. Watch his last race- horse was opening lengths late and really think the pace could get spicy in the derby bc it’s a 20 horse field. Best of luck all! The derby card is tough. The turf race before the derby- no real classy turf horses so gotta go wide in that leg sadly.

Is it a concern that a horse might not be as young as it's purported to be? It seems like with all the money at stake, someone(s) would try to pass off a 4-year-old as a 3-year-old and have a big edge. Seems like it would be easy enough to do, but I don't have a good concept of the countermeasures in place.

Derby day!

Will prolly single Cody’s wish in p5 and p4- hmm like major dude a lot
In the turf race before the bigger turf race. Hmm the turf race before derby looks like quick pace so favor later runners- think the Todd p horse, the west coast horse homg Kong harry, and santon due to his good runs at CD.

Derby- I think Winner comes from mage, AOE, forte, derma, mandarin hero. Would throw tapit thrice as a contender but I feel he doesn’t trip out from post 5. Also disarm for asmussen looks like a solid bet- i feel asmussen will get his derby sooner or later and it may be from a horse we don’t expect like this.

I’m totally against two Phil’s. Let him beat you. Look at what botanical did in oaks yesterday. All weather isn’t dirt- it favors closers somewhat which dirt doesn’t.

Love big invasion in the turf sprint. He closed 5 panels at gulf off the bench. Watch out for this guys kick down the lane with Rosario on him. Hmm good night olive doesn’t seem like a single to me- need the speed horse 2nd on line I think for multi race wagers. Olives run style worries me at a short price- hard to catch classy speed.

Would fade forte with the news about his foot and awkward step. Maybe he scratches? Unlikely but I hope he’s in bc he’s taking a lot of money. AOE is the favorite according to oaks derby will pays. I think the pace is going to be hot with new addition plus fact some horses just gotta go due to post position, AOE makes a late kick and says see you later to the field. Prat wins his 2nd derby under better terms this time.

Just thoughts. I hope I’m not too off bc I’ll lose heaps if I am!

Hit the pick 5 2 times and multiple pick 4 tickets but I loved mage. Somehow found a way to use web slinger with the logical pletcher and brown horse and another . Some how got lucky for my biggest horse day. After months and years of losing, I have a $40k+ day. Very nice.

Sorry for the brag. Tough game where I lose $200-1k on many weeks or breakeven and find a way to string a bunch of wins today! Hope folks here did well today. I know I said I loved mage here.

Stopped in the thread yesterday to see who it was on before heading to track to make some WAGERS.

Went $10 across the board on Mage, and $10 across the board on TWO PHILS.

$60 in ----->$360 out. Thanks thread!

In Ireland, I think Pats Choice has a cracking chance in the 3.40 at Killarney (about 15 mins' time). Available at 6/1, more than fair.

No luck with Pats Choice, but he started at 4/1 so we got value with our bet anyway.

Three more for today:

2.25 Newbury - Rainbow Dreamer 22/1 - 1pt win

The selection has run five excellent races from his last six, steadily increasing his AW mark despite being at the ripe old age of 10. His last two RPRs were 106 with a two month gap in between, but older horses tend to need runs to get fit so I now fancy he can probably run a little touch better after just a three week absence this time.

He now runs in this weaker looking race off 92. Transferring his AW form to the turf is a big question, but one of his wins did come here at Newbury some time ago.

He conceded 12lb to Nathanael Greene last time, who is joint favourite here, and finished a length behind him. He now reopposes that joint favourite in this race conceding just 4lbs to him.

Rainbow's chances are long, yes, but 22s is an insult. I'd rate him about a 9/1 sort of shot in this field.

2.35 Curragh - Blairmayne EW 20/1 - 0.5pts EW (1pt in total)

Blairmayne loves the Curragh notching up two wins and eight places from twenty-five runs here. His mark got a bit high last season but we are now back down to a rating of 85. He has in the past won off 84 and then finished a neck second off 90 in a 25 runner field.

He reappeared this season with a win off 82 and then backed that up with a third place in a big field off 88 clocking 94 RPRs in both runs, so to run off 85 here is a benefit and with his course record, I think placing is a great chance, possibly winning too. 20/1 is therefore huge but go EW.

3.10 Curragh - Go Athletico 4/1 - 1pt win

Everyone raves about Art Power's record at the track, but virtually all his career runs are over 6f and this is 5. I also have doubts about the fields he has beaten in those races he has won at this track. The selection therefore is Go Athletico. He'll handle the soft ground just fine and should be improving now he's onto his second run for the yard since coming over from France and probably having to settle into his new surroundings (domesticated animals hate change!!). I can just see Art Power not quite having the pace to bound out and make all over a shorter than usual trip for him and he somewhat makes the market suggesting that our 4/1 is good enough value.

Opening day of Glorious Goodwood

Picked out the following last night

2.50 - Eagle's Way 7/1
3.25 - Haatem 3/1
4.00/4.35 - Kinross/Courage Mon Ami win double 11/8 and 9/4 so the double is around 13/2 at the mo

Unfortunately Eagle's Way is now 4/1, so up to you if you still bet 1pt win on it or not. I think he goes well but not sure there is any value left now.

Haatem is 5/2 now, Kinross now 10/11 and Courage Mon Ami 2/1 or so, I still rate these three as good bets.

A lovely profitable day for me yesterday having doubled Haatem and Kinross.

Today at Goodwood is a good watching brief but a much trickier punting day, so only the 1 selection there plus 2 pokes in the big race of the Galway Festival, the Galway Plate:

Goodwood 2.25 - Jumbly, 1pt win @ 7/2
Galway 6.40 - Enniskerry, 0.5pts EW (1 total) @ 9/1
Galway 6.40 - Easy Game, 0.5pts EW (1 total) @ 14/1

Meh, Jumbly NR and the other two a poor showing, a small loss.

Today we go at Goodwood again

1.50 - Theoryofeverything, 10/1, 0.5pts EW
3.00 - Desert Hero, 5/1, 1pt win
3.35 - Blue Rose Cen, 4/5, 4pts win

Blue Rose Cen is a 'she just wins' job imo, good luck if you play.

A good day with Desert Hero drifting out to 7/1 and winning, but Blue Rose Cen's jockey making a stupid kamikaze move cost us another excellent day after Tuesday went so well.

We go again today on the penultimate afternoon of the festival:

1.50 - Law Of The Sea 7/1, Temporize 9/1, both 0.75pt win singles
3.00 - Perotto 14/1, The Gatekeeper 14/1, both 0.5pt EW (1pt total) singles... and Lattam, 5/1, 1pt win
3.35 - Nymphadora 12/1, 0.5pt EW

Travers day- I like fading forte in the travers.

Card is kinda tough and looks slightly chalky. Maybe fade the euro Chad brown horse that is supposedly 80% first start back in the US.

I like elite power also but he’s going to be a bad price maybe around 1/2 lol.

Maple Leaf Mel broke my heart there is no coming back for me. Took 3rd in sportofkings race of day last week forcing myself to push buttons could of won the damn thing would of felt like a crown of ignorance 3rd last first money or not I would give it all to have them all safe which is unattainable.

You want to save horse racing dont televise it only way and that's not happening.

Get apologists like Byk take to air talking avg vs optics I mean talk about ignorant.

Hey there son what you crying about? Took you to the horse track on Travers day of all things got you the fat pretzel soda front row on rail what's your deal? What that? New York Thunder? Hell boy it's just within the averages toughen up. Uh huh

I think horse racing is on the way out. Idk a lot of tracks are closing lately and it seems like California government isn’t too fond of horse racing (maybe I’m wrong- I know it’s big money etc but I could see Del Mar and Santa Anita doomed down the road).

Idk, I feel the sport could be over if a maple leaf Mel or ny thunder event happened in the derby or maybe a big undercard race when a ton of eyes are actually following. Only
Die hard are watching Saratoga on a Saturday/ Sunday. I don’t think a lot of the casual fans are watching fox to see Saratoga unless they are betting.

Ny thunder event- I felt they should have held off on that race for 10-20 min to rack the track. I’m guessing the track was super hard as it was packed down due to an insane pop up thunder storm. Idk why they can’t wait 10-20 min and delay the race on a big day. I mean I don’t know if this helps bc ny thunder supposedly has had leg troubles recently.

Regardless, we will still always have this...
