Gulfstream - Race 4

#4 Perfect Rah (10/1 ml)

Back on March 7, there was a two-turn maiden race on grass for 3yo fillies. One of the entrants was a Roger Attfield trainee named Perfect Shirl, who incidentally is a half-sister to a big turf star from a few years ago named Shakespeare. Attfield also happened to be an incredible 4-for-7 with first-time starters going a mile-or-longer, so obviously i had some interest in the horse as i was handicapping the race (though I ended up selecting Won Hot Kitty). The way the race unfolded, Perfect Shirl was racing along the rail from several lengths off the pace, then came turning for home while seemingly full of run, but she was unfortunate to be trapped behind horses. As a result of that, she was never able to threaten the runaway winner, but she did quicken very noticeably once finally getting an opening, surging late to take second. Very well might have won the race (or at least made it close) with a better trip.

The reason that's relevant here is that while handicapping the race, i noticed that Perfect Shirl had worked heads-up SIX TIMES IN A ROW with Perfect Rah. That being the case, i expected Perfect Rah to be entered in a similar grass event very soon, and though it's a bit later than expected, sure enough Perfect Rah has been entered here in a $50,000 maiden claimer at a mile on grass. Looks very live here considering how well Perfect Shirl ran, and should be offering a great price as well.

Gulfstream - Race 11

#5 Game On Dude (12/1 ml)

Top-rung prospect here. He ran on the same card as the much more heavily-hyped Radiohead and Miner's Reserve last time out, and did run slower than those two, but he also happened to run faster than the two graded stakes for fillies later on the card, so it's not like he ran slow. Also note that he blew the start, hopping pretty badly to be off well behind the pace. That cost him a few lengths, which makes the margin between he and the other two a good bit smaller. And lemme tell you, he looked VERY smooth when rallying into the lead around the turn, then was just toying with the field as he coasted to the wire without ever being asked for run. And don't overlook the fact that this horse has already beaten Miner's Reserve. Makes his two-turn debut today, but he's bred top-and-bottom for routing, and he also figures to enjoy a tactical advantage here as there's a ton of speed entered in this race, and as mentioned he looked great coming from off the pace last time. Wide-open race here, but i think this horse has as good a shot as any of them, and as you can tell by the morning line, he's being very much overlooked here. Upset special.

Serious Kev? I know i have explained LONG ago that i give my top 3 picks for each race who i think will WIN. That was not my PK6 ticket,i just included that there was a carryover. I will, and have always given my exact PK6 play and ticket cost when i make a PK6 play. I also give my exact PK4 and price when i play it,and if ive really got a liking to a card i will say im running DD's from race so and so,to so and so,and rolling PK3's...i do this everytime,so thought that was a given.

I often am stuck being a horse fan, which i am,many days,i will cap a card, and post my picks publicly, but pass on the card from a gambling standpoint for various reasons such as lack of personal knowledge,prices,etc.....in the end im just a horse fan,and having fun

Race looks wide open to me. I guess if Rule can dictate the fractions he may walk away, but I am hoping that doesn't happen and will take a stab with the 5 Game on Dude, is bred to be any kind and if he improves off his maiden win could easily win here at a price. Good Luck men...

Yeh, kind of a weird ride to me, no excuses, but pinned down on the rail is not the place an inexperienced horse like that should be placed, but when the real running started this horse had nothing. So glad the 4 didn't win the headbob, because Wesley Ward is my absolute favorite trainer in the world. Everything this guy sends to the track is live and I didn't really love anyone in the race. Was going to throw a few bucks on him for the hell of it but didn't. Oh well, bring on the next bunch. Good Luck , men...

Yeah, I wasn't real happy with the ride either. I was expecting Game On Dude to be laying 3-4 lengths off the pace on the outside, waiting to pounce on what I thought might develop into a speed duel up front. Getting stuck on the rail behind horses wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Not sure whether it would've made any difference in the final outcome, but I don't think he was given his best chance today.

Kevroc,

My apologies for missing what you were saying, and responding as i did. You have never been anything but helpful, and as much as anyone could have a friend online, you have been one. I have a unique way of speaking at times im told, and i come off as a 100% a-hole,when truth is its closer to 25 30% tops.
