This is the reason i have no interest in sharing my plays,or giving any info anylonger in this horse racing post i helped start with Kevroc, just complete ignorance being spoken...(ignorance meaning having no understanding of which one speaks)

To whip a child or a horse is the same? If you go to far its abuse?
Are you kidding me? To whip a child would be a form of punishment, was RA being punished by CB? To make that comparison is just ignorant.

CB hit RA with a special designed whip which DOES NOT hurt the animal, but helps as a reminder to stay to its business,or as a training tool,to teach the animal to not drift in on the rail for example.

I never once heard, read, saw anyone from the RA group say anything about the ride CB gave to RA,and i would think they would be the ones to speak up if there was an issue, being they have millions of dollars and all invested in the horse

Honcho, you know why the whip is used.

To keep a straight course and/or prevent lugging or drifting.

For a jockey to "beat up" a tiring animal, it would be suicidal.

If that 1000 pound animal were to collapse, the 90 pound jock is toast.

You know the truth, why listen to such nonsense?

UGGGGGG......You are right Kev,lot of times i can just let stuff being said like that go in 1 and out the other, guess the ignorant comments struck a cord with me that rang all the way back to Eight Belles, and ALL the new horse veterinarians the 08 Derby produced.

I hope you continue to post your picks even though someone speaks total nonsense. I enjoy following and sometimes playing your picks.

I have Maui Mark marked today in the 7th at Del Mar. My notes say he ran a good race from a tuff post and to watch him next time out. Not sure what that means??? He is 6-1 and the 5th choice in that race. Gonna play him across the board I guess without looking at the race.

Thank You Noddy
I was in Ann Arbor all day seeing my cancer surgeon and didnt cap todays races. All is good knock on wood.

I like that you are using your virtual stable,i trust mine completely and after i got to the point i KNEW i could trust my picks,i often dont watch the races live, but put my wagers in after the days changes, usually 1pm est. I always watch the replays at my convenience, and still have a good part of the day for family obligations or poker.

Im complimented enough to know you can trust my picks, and have made some coin from my selections,i hope you are MOSTLY doing your own capping. I think you are doing the right things with your virtual stable.

I am looking forward to my 3 week break till Oaktree starts up,i have a ton of friends of mine poker games to hit up.

Glad everything went well with your surgeon. Prayers from here. Yep I cap myself when I can, but I love to follow and see other peoples opinions.

Poker is fun. I play online on Cake poker. Do you play online?

Thanks for the prayers, and all is good. I have never played online poker,im just old school that way i guess, and i dont really trust it,so i play live only.
I followed the online poker scam by UB/Absolute on here, and just want no part of online poker. If it ever gets regulated properly i know i would be 1st in line because it would be extremely convenient for me with my physical limitations, but until then i just play live.

Glad to hear you're doing well Honcho. I'm not much of a horseplayer, more of a fan. I do decently on the few events I go to or when I hit the casino reading the form. I keep hearing about the virtual stable. What is it exactly?

Thanks Chromakey. A virtual stable for myself is a list of horses that i follow,i recieve their latest works, and times. These are horses i have watched perform in the past that i want to keep an eye on for various reasons, and the same reason at the same time,MONEY.

I have horses i tab for the Breeders Cup from Europe (i do miss TVG, and HRTV for this)i have horses i tab for a certain meet, like now at Del Mar, i have horses i tab out east such as Nicanor (Barbaro's brother) havent heard much from him in awhile, but anyways you get the idea.

I know Youbet offers a Follow My Horse feature which say you watched today at Del Mar say the 5th race where the "Bad Cat" El Gato Malo won and paid $30 to win and caught your eye for whatever reason, you note him,and next time he is entered to run you will be notified. Equibase is my favorite for a virtual stable probally because i started their 1st.

But the biggest feature it does is REMIND you when and where they are going to be running again. I really dont need notes much anymore,i remember everything for some sick reason, but i dont always know when they are going to run.

I hope that helps, sure i gave a longer answer than i should of and didnt mean to confuse you if i did

Oddly enough, on a track I've never handicapped before, I like Game Face to get upset in the 7th Race at Presque Isle Downs tonight.

I like Bear Now here, 10-1 ML. She's a real consistent horse whose best may get her up, and she is also getting 10 pounds from the other two horses that figure here. I like her to Win/Place. And I'm going to key her up in an exacta box with Diamondrella and Informed Decision.

Gogogogogogo.

Gogog...not.

Bear Now was scratched. A trip to the race book for naught. Game Face wasn't even heavily overbet like I thought she would be. Meh.

I bump this thread with a bad beat story. More like a dumbass story.

When leaving on vacation I like to head to the track a few days beforehand and maybe have a payday with which I could upgrade my trip! This time the wife and I are heading to Las Vegas, so...

I am playing Freehold today. Bet a pick-4 in race 7 on the cheap.

3 with 5 with 1,2,4,5,7 with 1,2.

Race 7) 3 wins. Odd on.

Race 8) 5 wins a messy race. Pays $5.something. He was much the best though the betting was spirited.

Race 9) 4 horse goes wire-to-wire at 33-1. The 1 and 2 horses ran place and show for a $300 plus exacta. I was sleeping and did not play the race, but things are looking good for the pick-4 ticket!

Race 10) 3 wins and I get two three of fours. My $10 investment pays $20.change. How exciting.

When placing the original pick-4 ticket and 1 and 2 looked so good in the 10th race the only thing I was worried about was a speed duel. What I didn't realize was the 10th race was the last race of the day. I have a thing about favorites not winning the last race often. In fact, weak drivers often win these. That is what happened.

This is why I do not own a gun.

So, we close up shop at the summer meets on the East & West coasts, and this board begins to look like the Aqueduct grandstand in winter (crickets....). Where are the fall-winter degens?

Saturday, September 19, 2009:
Super Derby -- Grade II: Louisiana Downs, Race 11

I think the local horse, Red Lead, is live at 15-1. I am going to use Regal Ransom (little more $) and Massone (little less $) in Exacta & Triple Boxes and key up Red Lead with a Win bet.

I am good at handicapping, still bad at betting.

Thing is I placed the wager and was at work in a meeting when the last two races went off. Oh well - I am chasing the carryover shortly from my computer this time.

I am well aware of Rachel Alexandra's connections shutting it down for the year, expecting HOY.

I got a decent sized prop with somebody on HOY, I got RA and he picked the field, with me laying 1-8 odds. I can only see Zenyatta having any chance of upsetting RA. Of course Zenyatta needs to (presumably) run in and WIN the BC Classic. I don't even think Zenyatta runs in the Classic, and if she does she will be at least 2-1 to win anyway. And even if she does win it, it would need to be somewhat convincing AND get enough voters out of the RA camp which I don't see likely.

Interested to see what some others here thought fair odds would be on RA HOY.

I think your bet is +EV, I would say 1-20 would have been fair.

The other 5%:

I'd reserve 2% for Summer Bird, should he win out in the Jockey Club Gold Cup & Breeder's Cup Classic. Even then, he's not a lock.

Another 2% for Gio Ponti. Again, he would need to win a prep (Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational (G1) @ Belmont: 10/3) AND the Breeder's Cup Turf. Or, they could just run him in the Breeder's Cup Classic and win that. Same outside chance as Summer Bird.

Zenyatta is only 3-for-3 this year. Her resume was much more impressive last year. She would have to run in, and win the BC Classic decisively. In addition she would have to win her next race (maybe 2) before the BC. Not going to happen. Even if it does, I still think RA gets there over Zenyatta. Give her a 1% chance (and that's pushing it).

Either would have to have demonstrative victories in the BC in order to have a shot at unseating the current 2009 HOY, Rachel Alexandra.
