I assume you're refering to the Travers field listed at the end of the article. Rachel is going to face a pretty soft field for a Grade 1 race.

have a few horses to look out for in the upcoming weeks

1) Our Montana Dream- dont let the 1-50somthing record fool you, hes headed for big things as evidenced by his recent 2nd place finish at Saratoga

2) Fiona Freud- took her like 26 starts to break her maiden but now look out all systems appear ready to fire

3) Slow Signal- hes been away for the past year or so, his connections are obv trying to freshen him up for the upcoming belmont meet, look for him on the yielding turf to run a big one his record speaks for itself as hes 1 for 56

4) Physotic Summer- another career maiden, this monster likes to go off the fave nearly every race then run 2nd or 3rd, he broke his maiden recently somehow and will now be in the nwx1 level for the next 4 years

If it wasn't obvious that RA was ducking before, it is now.

This is a pretty absurd statement when she's run the most ambitious 3 year old campaign of any filly in many, many years. No matter where she runs, people are going to complain at this point. The Haskell field looked pretty strong until she destroyed them. If she wins the Woodward, she'll be the first 3YO filly to win a Grade 1 against older males since the system of grading races was put into place. One of the fillies that finished behind her by 29 lengths in the Oaks came back to win a Grade 1. One of the fillies that finished 30 lengths behind her in the Mother Goose came back to win a Grade 1. At least three of the colts she beat in the Preakness are now Grade 1 winners.

The competition hasn't been great, but that's because there aren't a lot of really good horses racing right now.

I think the issue I'm having with RA's people now is it seems like they want her to merely be remembered as a "great" horse rather than a "legendary" horse.

Yes she won the Preakness, but why not run the Belmont? I know there was no triple crown up for grabs, but still, she locks HOY with a win in that race.

I can understand passing on the Breeders Cup, with the cross country travel and the synthetic, but now it seems like no matter what happens RA and Zenyatta will never square off (RA would dust Zenyatta anyways).

The field at the Travers this year is very good. I would've expected RA to win anyways, but again with the ducking. The Woodward field is quite thin when compared to the Travers field. RA's been at Saratoga for weeks and waited till the last possible minute to announce. RA's a great horse, but could be a legend if her owners chose to make her one.

this sounds like saying tiger woods is ducking the rest of the pga tour year after year. Jordan clearly ducked NBA opponents for 18 months.

When Tiger is healthy, he plays the PGA, British Open, US Open, and Masters.

RA ran/will run:

[ ] Derby
[x] Preakness
[ ] Belmont
[ ] BC Classic

I think this is more analogous to boxing.

Running in the Woodward does nothing for RA. I don't care that a 3 yr old filly never won the race. Beating Bullsbay, D'Tara, Cool Coal Man, Macho Again and It's a Bird, seriously what is that going to do for her resume. Outside racing they will make a big deal out of it because they are clueless and just want to write a story, people in racing know this is a **** race and **** handicap division. No doubt she should be in the Travers.

Actually we all missed the best analogy. lance armstrong and TDF. The guy rode one race seriously every year and won including some crushing times. But no giro or vuelta.

first off all you people are just darn fools. Running against older males as a 3yo female is one of the most impressive things you will ever see. The belmont was a non race for a filly to bounce back that fast is ridiculous and lastly the travers is not a greeat field trust me Asmussen knows that she is better than Kensei and LOL at Pletcher running Quality Road who will not win that race in a million years. It is a fair field no more no less. She has done everything the BC is on synthetic if not she would be there. foolish people!! darn fools enjoy watching her and jsut shut up!! This from someone who actually makes a living at the game. Also Monmouth 3rd race tomorrow take all your money the horse can't lose. figure out you so called experts. HAHAHAHHA experts what a joke!!!
