Thanks horseofcourse for pointing out that it's off the turf. It's an even tougher race now. I'll just do $20 win #11. He seems to be a classy horse and has a good work over the track last week.

Also, race # 6 at Keeneland. I'll be backing #12 Jack and John (20-1). He seems to be sitting on a good race and being off-turf should actually help his chances.

Well, since the #11 is now sitting @ 2-1, I'm going with $20 win #6. Good luck!

Ok gamblegamble:

50c tri box 3/4/9/11 ($12)
4$ to win on 6
4$ to win on 10

In the future I think we should have a requirement like dRF does for their contest that we explain ourselves a LITTLE bit at least. I'll start tomorrow, I was late to the party today.

How do you set it up to get them emailed directly to you? I was checking the "My Account" Email preferences but could not find it. Just a way to get a monthly newsletter and promotional offers. Thanks in advance!

Every morning I get an email called DRF morning line. Not sure how I get it. I have an account with DRF and DRF Bets.

Thanks for the link:

Hollywood Race 7:
6F on the Turf:

The 3 (Meringue Pie) is interesting. The horse quits at a mile on the front end and never goes terribley fast. He can probably sit mid pack, and maybe have late kick shortening up in distance.
The 4 (No Contingency) has all the room to improve with the second time on the turf and a nice work last time out. I dont really think any horse will go with the 2 on the front end but the 4 will be close early.
No real views on the 5/6 (Both lightly raced, both never on turf, 6 is on a huge lay off)

Plays
Exacta 3,4/1,3,4 $4
Tri 3,4/1,3,4/ALL $16

Haha, wow, a few of you really took offense to the word "requirement" in there huh?

Allow me to rephrase: I think it would be more productive/enjoyable if we had a little discussion to go along with our picks for the race of the day, so I'd encourage you guys to offer up a sample of your thinking to go along with your plays for the race of the day.

BTW Honcho congrats on whatever you're celebrating. The ice cream place at the Wynn is better IMO, but Scoops at the Bell stays open late. Best of all though is probably the ice cream in the Sunday brunch at Zeff's! Just a little ice cream knowledge for you, so you know you aren't dealing with some Johnny-come-lately ;-)

DRF Race of the Day
Hollywood Park Race 7 4-25-13

$6 Ex 2/5
$4 Ex 2/1
$2 Ex Box 5/1 ($4)

$1 Tri-Wheel 2,/1,5,4/1,5,4 ($6)

I like the #2 horse as he featured an 82 Beyer on his first try at Turf. Better than anyone else in the field. He has also keeps the same jockey for this race. Also won 3 of last 4 at the 6F distance.

#5 Horse is hard to read but had a really nice race his first time out which was a Sprint.

Pretty much everything horseforcourse said about the #4.

The play: $16 win #4, $2 exacta box 4-5 = $20 total

I like the #2 he has won before on the grass and I'm just doing an Exacta Box today 2-4-5.

I'm going with:
$5 ex 5-4
$5 ex 2-4
$10 to win 4

I think the 4 is solid value going off now around 16:1 (14MTP as I type), given his very respectable workout lately, and the 84 he fired a few races ago. 2 and 5 seem pretty clearly the best so I guess I will kinda hedge against myself.

I always kind of feel like this (bet a horse to win, and make another bet contingent on that horse NOT winning) is a losing strategy but I just don't know enough about the game, anyone have any advice on that?

I came off harsher than i intended T,im gifted that way often, and appreciate the gelato advice,i was 43 first time i ever had it and love it. To try to answer there is a very smart way to do what your asking, its called dutching, and Kevroc would be your guy there,he is stand up and has a good idea on that style no doubt. Going over to the riviera in a couple, met a couple pool pros competing there today having a little 420,both from jersey so just hit it off and went over to peppermills and got some grub. My reality is choice atm

Still on est,and went to lay a PK4 at the SB @ Riviera and they said already off...oopps again, ill get it right eventually, saved myself $45 missing out to.

Agree with everything else.

War Emblem did win the Illini in super fast time, then the KD the same way, then the Preakness. Also the Haskell.

I was heavy on SJ, also had WE to win but smaller size, he was my #2 pick that year.
21-1 for a horse with a 109 Beyer last prep...smh, that kicked off my hot streak in the KD. Still pissed about the Hard Spun finish....18 other horses give Calvin the rail with him on the favorite going from 19th to the wire...wtf..**** Street Sense.

Race of the day is a good one at Keeneland Race #9

Not sure where I am going with this one yet especially since I don't know what to do with the shipper from Arg. the #2 or the trainer jockey combo of the 6.

But after a quick look I am leaning to an Exacta:

5,8/5,8,10,11

Keeneland Race 9 4-26-13

Looks like a very interesting race with some potentially large payoffs. I was tempted to try a few .10 superfecta wheels but with the $20 cap bet I thought it was wiser to stick with exactas and trifecta part wheel. Probably should skip the trifecta but I am addicted to them! Here are my picks:

$2 Ex 5/2,10,11 ($6)
$1 Ex 2/5,10 ($2)

$1 Tri-Wheel 5,2/5,2,10,11/5,2,10,11 ($12)

The #2 is a gamble and an unknown but I think has a nice price to throw into the mix. The #5 horse looks to be on a roll and hopefully keeps improving, along with just having won a Turf race at this distance a few weeks back.
