+1

i trust Bob Baffert a lot. Bode wouldn't be in if he wasnt good to go. The KD had a ridic pace - this will be so much slower. Post position 7 is a great spot for him. Hope to get close to 8/5.

i like Went The Day Well a lot too, but the pace is going to really favor Bode here.

i'm not all that impressed by any of the non-KD horses. They haven't beaten anyone. Maybe the 4 Zetterholm. Big jump in class. And the pace of his races have been super slow.

Went the Day Well is my choice. Hope he gets a better trip this time. Bode and I'll Have Another will be there too.

This is what is so great about this sport. A million people can watch a race and have a million different interpretations of what happened. I happen to feel Bode will regress a little off that Derby effort, and the other horse in the Derby are being greatly disrespected especially the winner. That track at CD was lightning fast and very speed favoring for both days which greatly aided Bode's race. I will take nothin away from him, he ran his eyeballs out but he still lost. Now logic would say with less pace in here today he will have an easier time, but Pimlico is a deeper track and no so friendly to the front runners. To me the top four Derby finishers are head and shoulders above the field and Bode will certainly be there. But I think I'll Have Another can win this thing staying closer to Bode than in the Derby and surge past him in the stretch with Creative Cause or Went the Day Well finishing second and Bode no better than third.Just my opinion and best of luck to everyone.

Going $20 exacta box 6,7: $1 tri 7/4,6,9 and $5 tri 7/6/4,9

Obviously feel Bode gets an easier lead, and hoping Creative Cause gets a better trip.

good post Simon. good to get others perspective.

i think its a top heavy field with all of the drop outs. With 11 horses should be some cleaner trips.

im going 7/5/9/6.

not sure of all of my plays but exactas, and supers, and maybe some tris. prob throw some WPS in too.

good luck everyone. enjoy the race

I'll have another did it , same price at betfair. This horse is just great , very good ride by Gutierrez again. Bodemeister is great too but won't be able to beat this horse at more than a mile and an eight .
Triple crown winner this year? I say yes.

Had I'll have Another p/s, thankfully did not single Bode up top but had him and I'll have another boxed up top with 3 other horses for the trifecta also, including the winner.

Whatta ride and whatta horse. Very impressed with IHA.

I actually gain more respect for Bode after that effort, than with the Derby, but at the end of the day IHA is just the better horse at the moment. Tremendous ride by both riders but this Gutierrez kid is just amazing, absolute perfect ride. Well on to Belmont with a Triple Crown chance, very exciting stuff. My initial impression is Union Rags beats IHA but it's too early for that right now. Lets just enjoy this one. peace

what a race! If you didn't enjoy that, then you don't enjoy horse racing.

I'll admit, I thought IHA was a "good" horse and Bode had the makings of a "great" horse. I was proven wrong, and I am officially jumping on the bandwagon.

My Dad and I say that when there's a horse running for the triple crown, we go to Belmont. We're going to New York!

On a betting note: 3 out of 4 in the early pick 4, 3 out of 4 in the late pick 4

They are both heading for Royal Ascot next month but are gonna race in different races. Frankel might step up to 1m 2f, he is def capable of getting that trip. The only chance they have of meeting before Frankel is retired to stud is at Goodwood in the Sussex Stakes later in the year, there has already been £1m added to the prize fund should it happen. I don't see it happening personally, but I'd love to see it.

I hope the belmont doesnt end like this for IHA...

I believe this is the finish in Simon's avatar... this has always been my fave horse race of all time...

I will also comment from a pretty square perspective here, seems like IHA has a real good shot at the crown this year, and likely Bode will finish off the board.

Excellent horse race, I'll Have Another ran him down. The jockey rode a fabulous race and IHA refused to lose. My top choice WTDW decided to stroll the last half of the race.

I ended up hitting the exacta and making little money.

It was a great race. I was hoping Zetterholm would get up for 3rd. Steady improvement every race. Put him in exacta and tri at Belmont if he runs..

Does anybody else besides me think that the 2012 Preakness Stakes stunk on ice?

Why didn't Bode go out and set insane fractions like he did in the Kentucky Derby and run them off their feet in a shorter race? Remember Shackleford just last year? A far lesser mammal compared to Bodemeister. You would have thought that Baffert would have employed the same tactic, but strangly did nothing of the sort.

Where was the whip at the top of the stretch, Mike Smith? You give Bode several smart whacks in the Derby when you were five lengths in front! Here, when you were being pressed, nothing.

To me, this race looked like something you would see at Penn National back in the day. When the races were not run, they were scripted. I have witnessed WWE matches more genuine. I was waiting for Mike Battaglia to hit Bob Neumeier with a metal folding chair. I would hate to think that horse racing has de-evolved from The Sport of Kings to bad Reality TV.

And WTF was with Bob Baffert's reaction just after the wire? The footage is available on YouTube. It looks like he lost a $10,000 maiden claimer at Hollywood Park, not the second jewel of the triple crown. I was expecting another heart attack not complete indifference. Oh, BREAKING NEWS: Bode is not running in the Belmont. What a shock. Expect other quality horses to withdraw as well. I expect Union Rags will develop a case of the Siberian Itch and will have to scratch (Get it?). Remember in 2008 when the Belmont had Big Brown in against a bunch of trotters and went "no mas" in the backstretch. I was surprised that Tom Durkin did not jump out of the announcers booth and carry him across the finish line to victory. Everyone (including me) wanted it so badly. They had it all set up for a big party, and all we got in the end was a "Big Brown in the Punch Bowl". I had substantial Lettuce on him that day, so I am allowed that bad pun. Luckily, I did not have a penny on Bodemeister, which makes these charges far more genuine.

But wait, we have a chance to see history, right? Horse racing couldn't be happier. However, they are delusional in their thinking that a triple crown winner will be good for the sport and people will come back to the track. Hardly. The rabble will care (barely) for a couple of hours and then watch "Dancing With The Stars" and forget all about it. They will continue to stay away in droves.

The only people IHN's win is good for is NBC Sports, The Belmont Stakes, its sponsors and Doug O'Neill. Hey Doug, this sure beats sending out lame horses to run in $2500 claimers at Los Al, doesn't it. And BTW, good luck with that upcoming drug suspension.

Of course all of the above is fiction, just a senseless rant ... or is it?

BG, i dont even know where to start. All i can say is IHA is a better animal than bode. Mike did exactly what a Hall of Famer is supost to do. Nurse ur lead, repel the first bid & create separation, which he did by 3 lengths & then ride for ur life. Bode jus wasnt good enough. Hes a brilliant 1 dimensional horse , doug jus happens to have a once in a lifetime horse. Jus set back & enjoy imo.
