given the way the betting has gone, good value on the 2 here in the 6th at CT.

one more question cuz it'e been bugging me.

assuming the market is efficient, isn't any pk x with a carryover profitable if carryover/total pool is greater than takeout/pool+carryover? i'm thinking this is true until you factor split tix.

sorry for noob questions but i'm less than 4 days into learning this game. in the past 24 hrs i've read "horse racing for dummies" and watched secratariat though! lol. hrfd was a decent read. i learned a good amount about race classes, horse pedigrees, and track conditions. unfortunately the drf charts were too small to decipher on my kindle. also, some of the wagering advice is contradictory and laughable.

next i play to search the web for advice on reading the drf and other resources. i'm hoping within 6 months i can feel confident sitting at home in my underwear watching tvg and betting exotics at 0ev. (and if not i can confidently blame it on variance

Yes, you are 100% correct. When there is a carryover the percentage amount returned to bettors is much higher than when there is no carryover. Depending on the track and how much they attract on carryover day, a carryover can create a positive expectation game which is rare in any type of gambling.

TRAINER Peter Moody has flagged the possibility of Black Caviar confronting the world's best-rated horse, Frankel, in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in late July.

Moody told the Herald Sun he was "quite bullish" about the prospect of the world's No.1 and No.2 horses meeting head-to-head.

But he ruled out the Queen Anne Stakes (1600m) on the opening day of Royal Ascot - Black Caviar is locked into the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee (1200m) on the closing day, June 23.

Moody said the two champions could face off in the Sussex Stakes (1600m), one of the highlights of the Glorious Goodwood carnival. Frankel won the race by five lengths last year.

Moody said the option of extending Black Caviar's Britsh campaign beyond the Diamond Jubilee had been canvassed with the owners when he outlined plans for the mare before Royal Ascot.

"I'm not sure if it (meeting Frankel) will come off, but I'm quite bullish about it," Moody said. "I'm sure there will be plenty of overtures once we get to England, and we'll look at them then."

Moody said the Diamond Jubilee was the only race locked into Black Caviar's schedule that, but the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket in early July was also a distinct possibility.

Just how deep Black Caviar races into a European campaign will determine whether she returns to Australia to attempt a third Patinack Stakes win.

Other long-range options for Black Caviar include the Hong Kong Sprint, which, if she won, would clinch the $1 million Global Sprint Challenge bonus.

Horses have to win a Global Sprint Challenge race in three different countries during the year. Black Caviar won the first leg in the Lightning Stakes and the Diamond Jubilee would be the second.
Please let it happen!

I'm playing Oaklawn, here are a few plays for today.

Had the winner in the first doubled to the 6-1-5, heaviest on the 6 which is my best price there.

For the Classix starting race 3, here is my ticket.

3) 2,4
I love the 2's name here - great name for a race horse - Numismatist - means coin collector haha

4) 7-1-2

5) 6

6) 5-6-8

7) 4

8) 3-6-7

I am scared of the 5th race, if I can get through there, I like my chances. $54 play, small carryover small play. Will play pick3s and the pick4, and late double also.

Edit: was typing all this up, and the second race was run while doing so. My six won weeee - paid $28.60 on the double, also hit the exacta and a small win bet so that was cool.

Last edited by corndogg99; 02-24-2012 at 04:12 PM. Reason: put in double results :)

Yes Oaklawn has a 1$ pick 6! Its fun!

Might be another long winning streak in the works down in AUS as Rain Affair has won its 9th straight.

Just another month and a half until EMD opens up, lots of horses hitting the track again, I like that Winning Machine (perennial stakes horse) has already put two works in, they might be trying to get him ready for the stakes race opening weekend up at Hastings. He has ran well at the track in prior starts, including ending last years campaign with a 2nd in the Premier.

Had to leave right after posting unexpectedly, didn't get to watch/bet any more - wish I hadn't bet this cause I bricked this about as hard as you can lol. I had been doing so well there lately, and started the day off pretty good, hitting all three but jeeeeesus those last 5 races there....brutal.

Ya - its nice...when you don't go 1-6 on it ha. Of course, they don't get much bet into the pools until carryovers come in, but it is a pretty cool wager.

Frank M. is such a good race caller he just uses all of the famous TA stuff and mixes it together.
