So when your horse is comming down the stretch what kind of chants/screaming do you use?

For example I have a list of my favorite sayings and everyone laughs their as* off. I been to alot of racetracks and some of these are my sayings and some I heard from people, I find them all great.

Usually won't use some of these if children or women are present.

1. Turn em loose!
2. Let him go!
3. Alright baby, let's go!
4. Get em going!
5. Don't die on me you fuc*ing whor*.
6. When they are turning for home, "Swing him to the outside."
7. What are you waiting for x-mas let's go.
8. Don't move with him yet Prado I'll tell you when to let him go...then usually when they hit the top of the stretch "alright Prado now turn em loose."
9. When my horse goes wide..."What are you taking him into the parking lot?" Or "Don't go into the grandstand yah idiot."
10. When two horses are battling head to head..."Look him in the eye Prado."
11. Don't let me down! One time for the good guys!
12. When two horses are battling head to head..."Hit him into the rail."
13. My horse is the lead and there is a white/gray horse comming usually "Look out! You got a white broad with dead aim on you."
14. Gonna need a missle to catch this horse.
15. Gonna need a freight train to catch him.
16. Come like a rocket.
17. Stomp your feet on the ground.
18. Take the racing form and smack my side using it like a horse whip and pretending to be the jockey.
19. Two horses head bobbin back and forth..."No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no...then if your horse wins....YES!"
20. The only way this horse can lose if he gets struck by lightning.

21...my all time favorite! Right before a race if I got a horse which I don't think can lose, I will say IE; "Folks, if the #2 horse loses here at Belmont there will be an investigation."

Well I would LOVE to hear anyone favorite saying they like to use or tactic's they use to get there horse into the winner circle...or are you one of the million who are silent during the race.
My fave used to be just standing silently next to someone who was clamouring as many of these sayings as possible, and just as his horse is getting beat on the wire, just screaming, at the top of my lungs, the number of the horse that just beat him......

"FIVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Extra credit if you don't actually have a bet on the race, and double extra credit if you are actually rooting for his horse but yell the other horse's number anyway.

lol good topic! Here are a few that i'm guilty of...

"Get into 'im (insert jock)"!!

"Switch.. switch.. switch!!!" (obv tiring front runner stuck on a lead and not switching.. so frustrating to watch)

"Keep him together (insert jock)"!!!!

"Get him up, get him up, get him up!!"

Also, smooch sounds when the track announcer says my runner's name when he/she is making a move on the turn.

I also love shouting encouragement to my speed horses down the backstretch... "slow and easy.. gear em down.. easy fractions now baby..."

Like 90% of the time, I'm silent though.

The last time I yelled was the Belmont Stakes where I needed Summer Bird w/Desormeaux for the pick four and $8k...

I was all.. "Set him down Kenny... set him down!!!".

My friends were laughing at me but, whatever!

I know that feeling all too well, of getting paid and everyone watching you.

I once got paid $47k in two pink envelopes.. i had to get my wife to pull up in the car in front and paid a security guard $100 to escort me.

I would love to know that feeling. I'm pretty sure I would take the risk of getting robbed, just to hold those two pink envelopes.

Yeah, well my wife ruined the moment.

We had to drive into Manhattan because Staten Island OTB didn't have enough cash. She sat in the driver's seat and I had the two envelopes on my lap as we drove back home over the Verrazano Bridge.

It was a double carryover at Hollywood Park and I was explaining how the parlay only was only ~$12k and the actual payout was ~$61k because of the carryover and my wife pissed in my corn flakes by saying "you sound like a degen".

Del Mar Opening Day

The 7 week meet starts today 2pm pst. I enjoy and have made out decent the last 2 years here. I am going to cap,but not bet 1st few days to see how the track is playing this year, its been different each of the last 2 years.

I do know i play a ton of DD here that seem to pay much nicer here than anywhere else. I know speed never usually holds on the main track, but holds decent on the turf, which is a little different.

For an opening day there are lots of cheap races which suprised me,but Fridays card looks damn good, and i will post my picks for what its worth Friday.

Remember you telling me your wife said that from before Kev,guess its ok to sound like a degen with 60k sitting on your lap huh?

Also to answer what i say when watching the horses, and i 99% of the time just flip the football back to the ref,and act like ive been there before, because i have,,,,,,but Belmont 07 10k win wager and hit it,screamed so loud that after the 1st couple shock waves came out nothing would,i yelled so hard nothing would come out,,,,,so i guess got mine out all at once,

You had 10K to win on horse on Belmont? Nice score. Most likely dropped his odds but Belmont has nice pools for certain races. You bet $10,000 at any night track expect Hollywood/Del...my gosh the horse will be 1/20.

What were the odds? Inside info? Reason of play?

Back on topic with the funny comments.

Guy today in Belmont it was Race 8...#6 horse never ran in USA but was from Brazil.

He said folks "I just got the call from Brazil they said play the #6 here at Belmont he is gonna run away with the race...bet against the #6 you'll lose."

Sure enough the horse won.

2007 Belmont Stakes winner Rags to Riches paid $10.60.

OP bet on the first filly to win the Belmont since 1905. Win, place & show mutuel pool handles for triple crown races (on site + off-site wagering) have been in the $10,000,000+ range for the past five years. A $10k wager did not move the odds more than ~$.10. In my experience, big Grade I races and, specifically, triple crown events are the best spot to drop bombs where you will not impact pay-outs.

As far as the angle taken to produce the winner, I'll leave that to the OP. In a race of this magnitude, I'd bet that you can rule out inside info as the play.

I have explained it before to Kevroc, and i will try to do it here again, but keep it short, you can see my 1st post here that explains myself also,so here goes.

I posted on here really to get my situation off my chest to be honest,i was kinda affraid to explain it to anyone i didnt want to ruin or cheapen my experience if that makes any sense for a long time.

I was recovering from cancer laying in bed flipping channels, couldnt walk,my leg was butterflied wide open from the surgery. I came across HRTV while flipping and saw a horse getting ready to get loaded in,and the race was called the Las Virgenes stakes, thought it was a funny name,so i watched, never before ever watched horse racing. Well the horses that caught my eye went into the grandstand on the far turn, got a beer and program, saw she was in the race in the program, lol, and then figured she might as well win,and did at the wire by a good 1 1/2 lenghts, just took my breath away, sure the oxy's didnt help lol. So i as just laying there just awe sturck, and really didnt know why,i grabbed my walker and hobbled to my daughters room, told her the name of the horse and told her not to forget for me.

Now i swear this is true,i dont need the attention in anyway. I fell asleep that night and had a vision i guess you would call it,and in short i was told me and this horse shared the same heart and i would die suddenly and when i was loved the most.

I woke up the next day,and just started watching HRTV and TVG night and day, trying to learn more,my vision was so overwhelming to me,and started to go all out on my rehab to be able to walk again. I explained what happened to me to my wife, and was lucky enough to have her support, not that she didnt bust my balls some.

The Kentucky Derby was coming up,and i told everyone who would listen that this horse would win it,and my friends and family thought i was nuts ofcorse, and she was entered in the Oaks not the Derby, wtf? Well she ran away with it in the slop to kill em in the Oaks, and i just cried i was so happy.
Had a few family and friends take notice now,and mainly happy for me because i was happy going thru what i was and all. I kept telling everyone, she will win the Preakness, well she didnt get entered. Kept telling everyone she will win the Belmont, and finally, she was entered. As you can tell i never ever thought ever there was a chance this horse would lose.

I find out GoGo is on another mount because of her late entry, and i got Johhny V riding her. I was a little anxious for a second but my daughter rented seabiscut for me,never saw till then. I saw someone else take the mount on a big race and win, because the other jockey had a bad right leg, like me.Anyways....

Belmont day,had wife drive me to the track noon when it opened, and put 10k to the shreiks of all my friends and family telling me what a dumb dumb risk this is,and i never thought for a second it was a risk,i already knew what was going to happen,as much as anyone could know anything, right in my heart i knew! I was home now, just my wife and i,and a couple friends.

She made her move the same time as Curlin, and it was just those 2,and i knew! I just had tears streaming down my face, and yelled so hard nothing would come out of my mouth. It was complete! From vision or what have you,to that point. Finally,my wife asked how much did i win? And it was the 1st i even thought about that part.

Since then i have been a horse handicapper and player, and have never looked back. Cancer in remission, knock on wood. I was just an ordinary person, who had an incredible experience. If anyone remembers the race, her right leg almost gave out at the start also,(like mine) but she had the HEART and class. I love you Rags! Thank you!

So yes, maybe some inside info, but maybe not like you thought.

Phenomenal! I stand corrected. I believe that would qualify as inside info...

As if a determined remission were not incredible enough, I wanted to add one little footnote here for those who may not be aware of how ethereal this win was:

As you said, Curlin finished second to Rags to Riches in the 2007 Belmont by a head in a historic stretch battle. Although Rags to Riches went off at 4-1 (netting you $43k), Curlin might have been reasonably considered an underlay at even money. Curlin had just tied the track record winning the Preakness, and had previously made up 14 lengths in the Kentucky Derby to finish third as the second choice amongst 20 starters. After losing the Belmont by a head to Rags to Riches, Curlin went on to have the most lucrative career in thoroughbred history, picking up back-to-back Eclipse awards for Horse of the Year in the process. Absolutely remarkable to undergo remission accompanied by a vision that you were going to witness Rags to Riches make history beating arguably the best thoroughbred in the last decade.

Yours is hands-down the best horse racing story I have ever heard.

figured you had a hunch, you knew the owner, yada yada; but not that.

unbelievable story. Rags to Riches, FTW.

thanks for sharing. this thread is the best thread in 2+2 right now; it really keeps me coming back as we mire in the lulls between NCAAB and NCAAF/NFL.

Thanks a lot guys, thanks for the add on there centaurmyth,no idea how to do that stuff.

Del Mar tomorrow, just printed sheets, had a home game that ran long tonight. It looks like Del Mar is running pretty fair right now. I no longer have HRTV or TVG and im sure they covered it,but if anyone knows off hand how often they are watering this year, and between which races,i would appreciate it.

I enjoyed TVG and HRTV when i used them, but as i got a little further into my handicapping i just wanted to block out all other influence other than my own.
It is their job to make an argument for every horse almost in the race, which i understand, keep all connections happy and shown in a decent light, and tons of interviews and access,it just got distracting to me. Hope i spelled better tonight,i know i give that english hell sometimes.

Now i use my kids ps3 and go to calracing and watch the live feed on my 65" Hitachi tv,not a plasma or anything fancy, but can still sit across the street at the neighbors and see it,lol. This way i still have the live feed same as the track,or OTB,but unlike on HRTV or TVG no clutter of opinions.

Honcho, you might be happy to know that Rags to Riches produced her first foal, a filly, in early March of this year. Instead of going straight to breeding, maybe she makes it out to the race track? If so, I'll be in her corner for sure...

I see what your saying about outside influences. sometimes I wish I could block the morning lines from my PP sheets.

I know morning lines can be somewhat helpful, but I think I would rather just straight handicap and forget about those.

Where are you getting your PP's?

I print out DRFs and they dont have ML.

I make my own and scribble them in the margin then compare it against ML.

Ahhhh. In harness racing a horse "running" is another term for breaking...so I really wouldn't want my horse running. Correctomundo!

I have been misbehaving today. Out of my comfort zone a little playing the runners. At Woodbine I picked up a little change on chalky horses in races 2 and 3.

Handicapping Del Mar I see two races of interest. I like sprints.

Race 4) NW Allowance. 6f. The 4 horse is not fond of winning, but hits the ticket alot. Won last time out in fast time on the blazing track at Hollywood. Record at Del Mar is 5-0-3-2. How does this trifecta look?

2-3-5-6/4/all.
2-3-5-6/all/4.

Race 6) Maiden Claiming 50-40k. 6f. Confusing race. Couple of scratches. Looks like the 2, 3 and 10 could all be taking $$. I am drawn to the 11 horse. Looks like he had some maturity issues in the winter and spring. If he is ready to behave himself and be a good actor he could win at a nice price. Espinoza has to be a plus? Here is how I will play.

Exacta key box: 11/2-3-6-7-10
dime super: 11/2-3-6-7-10

Comments welcome. Good luck all. Hot Horse Howard.

Del Mar 7/24/09

1.) 4-2-1
2.) 1-6-7
3.) 3-1-2
4.) 4-5-6
5.) 10-9-7
6.) 2-3-10
7.) 2-3-4
8.) 6-8-10
9.) 8-4-11

I like todays card a lot, quality races. I am going to play rolling doubles from races 4-9,also 2 pk3 races 5-8,. The backside of the card has the most value today imo,but its been a sob to string them together here at Del Mar so far,so we will see. Playing late 4 also, not sure if adding a horse or 2 will try to update if i can.

As for the ML and DRF free pp question. Kevroc does it similar to myself,i use DRF basic PP's,no ML on them,i will cap my races with no ML info at all, after im done i will go back and mark my sheets in the upper left corner my value range i have against the ML. When i have a few marks in my upper left corner then i know i have value in consecutive races, and play DD or pk3's accordingly. I do not know how to get free PP's other than thru Youbet,or Twinspires,i just prefer DRF.
