Gulfstream - Race 2

#2 Silver Cloud (3/1 ml)

This Rahy filly debuted at a big price for obscure connections last time out, and surprisingly shot out to the lead over a quick colt named Escort (that one had previously dueled with Crossbow through some very fast splits @ Aqueduct). Led almost the entire way before getting beat just over a length at the wire, and the race has come back very strong, with the winner Free Entry returning to score vs. allowance company, and the two horses who finished directly behind Silver Cloud (Simbamangu and Escort) returning to run 1-2 in a maiden race on Saturday. Unfortunately, this rider (Arce) is currently 0-for-26 at the Gulfstream meet, but that will undoubtedly help the price here (as will the low-profile trainer DaCosta), and despite the 0-for-26 Gulfstream skid, Arce is still hitting at a decent 8% for the year, so he is capable of riding a winner. He was also on board for this colt's strong run last time, and of course Silver Cloud figures to be fitter this time around. Looks pretty strong with his keen speed and the key-race angle working for him, and the connections should help him go off at a playable price here.

Any of you gentlemen play harness racing?? I'm quite ashamed to say I play a fair bit.. For all those "rigtards" who insist that they can't win at poker b/c there's one or more external forces plotting against them (B/C "I'm stupid" or "I'm bad at this game" hurts ones feelings), they might not be wrong when lodging same complaint regarding losing $ betting harness.. Re: thoroughbreds- I literally CANNOT afford to have Uncle Mo not win the derby

Hey Nick, welcome to the thread. TripleH would be your man for the harness racing, but no we rarely if ever cover harness at all in this thread, actually TripleH is the only one that talks harness. I feel for you if you need Uncle Mo to win the Derby that bad, theres wayyy to many slips between a cup and a lip between now and then, and considering how long it took Pletcher to get it done back to back would be a hell of a feat. UM is a beast no doubt, and i am anxious to see what he does at Gulfstream for his 2011 debut. Right now there is only a couple horses that stand out to me and that would be Dialed In,and M3. I hope UM is in form for his debut, and with a solid showing obv goes right to the top,but he has been away awhile now since last yrs BC. For your poker rant for lack of a better word, huh? Lost me on that one.

fthack sighting, nice to see your around my man, havent heard from you since the BC. Hope life is well for you sir

Nick,

I hit the early and late pick-4s today at Freehold! I do play harness quite a bit, but limit the tracks I play to very few. Namely Freehold, Monticello, Meadowlands, Red Mile grand circuit, Northfield Park.

I don't post much but for a brag or hopeful funny story from time to time. I once worked part time as a volunteer groom for a couple years in Ohio, but have never owned any horses myself. They eat while you sleep!

I have handicapped the Freehold card for tomorrow. Only making two bets. Maybe I will post them later.

Take care...

After reading my post, I can see why further clarification is needed!! What I was trying to say was this.. Personally, I can't stand all those ******** theories floated around by certain (Losing, obviously) players looking for copouts, ie. Non random number generator, rewarding bad players to keep them on the site playing, Etc. If these ppl are consumed by paranoid thoughts about different ways that the gambling system have wronged them then the solution is simple!! Start betting harness racing!! That way, when these "victims" start lodging accusations toward the drivers/trainers/stewards cheating them, they won't be half wrong!!
Re: Uncle Mo- yeah, I'm well aware odds are stacked against 1 horse vs 19 others, however, can't help but find some humor in not being able to afford to lose a horse race..
Have a story you might appreciate.. I'm at Churchill for the breeders cup this year. Having gone on a heater in poker, I decided to "live it up" and get millionaires row tickets for day 1 & 2. So me and a buddy go upstairs, have a few drinks, watch races, standard stuff.. So the second race of day 1 rolls around, roughly 5-7 MTP, time to get in line to make bets.. So I get in back of 1 of the shorter lines to make bets on the self service machine.. There are now 3 MTP and I'm now waiting behind one guy. At this point I have no concerns about getting my bet in. Unfortunately, this ******* seems to have no regard for the bettors in line.. I mutter a few "C'mon, let's go's" to no avail. Long story short, I get locked out and miss out on a winning exacts. I think to myself, "what an *******" before disregarding the whole thing.
An hour or two passes by before I recognize somebody out on the track following a race.. ITS THAT ****ING BASTARD!! What's he doing down there in the winners circle? Then the situation takes a strange turn. They start interviewing the guy, and at that point, I realize this schmuck is super chef Bobby Flay! I couldn't believe it.. Anyways, the day ends. So on day two, back up to millionaires row for another day of racing. At some point (and I'm not sure when exactly) I see Bobby in line at the bartender. I'm pretty drunk.. For some reason I felt compelled to act. I decided to "accidentally" bump into the guy and spill his drink. Hes not too happy and says something along lines of "watch where the **** you're going". I ask him "Heyyyy don't I know you from somewhere? Aren't you that emeril guy!! Bam!!! Big fan, Emeril, big fan!!" to which he sneers and walks away. Hero 1 Villain 0!!!!

Finally, another Northfield fan!! I'm in Chicago, track gets unfair amount of criticism here, as if maywood/balmoral are the meadowlands!! I find the horses usually run pretty true to form over there.. What's your stance on Charlinos stint at the meadows? I'd like to see him succeed at meadows.. Guy absolutely beats the tar out of NFLD driving colony.. PS, am I the only one that cant stand Roger Huston at the meadows?? "In one FIFTY NINE AND THREEE", calls 4k claiming races as if it's the hambletonian

Nick,i understand now,not often do we talk poker in this thread. I liked your BF story as well, pretty funny, but be careful messing with us Irish guys, our sense of humor may be more physical than others There is a movie called Easy Money, stars Dangerfield/Pesci,and i always think of Kev when i watch it,its one of my favs, and the reason i do not wager on harness "He thinks he's waterskiing" LOL

On a personal note, today i might feel as good as i have in 5 years since my cancer. I still deal with some daily nastiness, but man do i feel good today A big thank you to my friend Kev,he is ALWAYS there for me and an encouraging word he always has, very proud he is my friend.

Lol @ Easy money, haven't seen the film except for one scene where the drivers got the brakes on resulting in a Joe Pesci beatdown (which is strange considering Pesci couldn't have beaten Macaulay Culkin in a fight on the set of home alone!! Really showing my age on that 1) re: Bobby flay, I'm 6'4 and a little over 3 bills, even if the guy was armed with a spatula I'd like my chances.. As for matters of actual importance.. I'm glad to hear your health is on the up and up. I can't fathom what being diagnosed with a terminal illness must be like.. I hope the cancer stays in remission and you continue to regain your health/strength.. You're playing w/ the houses money my friend
