Even the blind squirrel sometimes finds the nut.... hit the pick 3 with preamble, best dressed, and member of the tribe, paid $120, wasnt sure if that was member of the tribe or zenyetta in that race, she won for fun, something that doesnt happen for me too often when trying to close out pick 3's
Also alive in the late pick 4

147/15/256/9 11

as a long shot play kinda like egypt in the last race, he has two solid works big jockey switch to espinoza, but the outside post hurts his chances

Well got caught trying to force it some today,it happens now and again to me. I knew it was a wet weekend, and i wouldnt be wagering, and the way the favs have been falling i justified spreading in what i saw as a chalky PK4 hoping the favs fell and i spread right. Looking forward to Monday night at Sam Houston with Kev,i have never wagered or capped there so should be fun.

I always throw a few wagers on the Derby future pool and round one opens up tomorrow. Uncle Mo is 9-2 opening line and I suspect by the end of the weekend will be about 5-2 or 3-1, imo if this horse continues to progress as a 3yr old and stays healthy this will be like stealing on Derby Day. At this point and time he clearly has been the most impressive but it is still 3 months to the Derby. I will also bet $200 on Brethern @ 15-1 now which will probably be around 10 to 12-1 by Sunday and a $200 on Dialed In who is 10-1 right now but figures to be 6 or 7-1 when the pool closes Sunday. If Uncle Mo stumbles or God forbid is injured and doesn't make the race locking in these two at those odds seems like a nice bet to me. The field (all other three year olds) as usual is the 5-2 favorite in pool one but I think one of these three right now seem to be the horses to beat. peace.

Thread is heating up!

Bocachica brought the bombs at GP, let's nail this carryover friday!!

GL Simon, I'll be playing the $25k Twinspires Derby promotions as far as preps go but, not dipping into the future pools atm.

Check out this article about Shipping News, a 4yo that went for a swim in the Tampa Downs infield lake!

I think the best value in the futures right now is Brethren @ 15-1. He won his last race convincingly, albeit with a slow speed figure. I think that up against tougher competition he is capable of so much more. I really like him at this price, and I would be surprised if he stays up on the board with such a high payout.

Fair Grounds - Race 10

#6 Machen (6/1 ml)

Neil Howard colt broke last in his debut but then moved up powerfully to sweep to the lead around the turn and draw away impressively in solid time. Stretched out to two-turns last time and sent off at 1/9 against an overmatched field, he broke slowly again and was caught in traffic for almost the entire race, clearly full of run but having to sit and wait behind the slow-pokes before squeezing through a small opening around midstretch and then powering away late. Very talented colt, who is laughably listed @ 6/1 here, apparently because his Beyer dropped into the 70's due to the snail-like pace (and resulting final time) that he had no control over. Big value at even half that price; looks like a good one.
