Vet,i understand even before you broke it down for me how it works,LOL,i guess you missed my point. You are not contributing in any way to the sport of horse racing through an offshore. No $$ goes in or out of any track you wager on,and yes i know your a capable capper, but i still like my chances with your $$ in the pools, and would have no problem accepting a lesser score. Like i said though,to each their own,i just wish some of your $$ was going back into this sport is all. I am anxious for you to get up a bunch of pics from your Santa Anita trips for the thread,Dec 26th is when my season starts again.

Using a site like 5Dimes is the only option for some of us. I live in a state that has no horseracing, and is one of the states that is blocked on TwinSpires, TVG, etc. I have to travel to a neighboring state to wager, which I do on occasion, or use Bodog, 5Dimes, or some other site. Of course, it may also just be his choice to do so.

In any case, some of us don't really have a choice, we have to use one of the offshores because we can't always travel 1.5 hours to gambooooool, even if we want to get a wager down

dammit @ scratch

she was beating 80k's last year and competing (4th-6th) in G1's & G2's, then last time out (way back in Jan) lost a 52k by less than a length despite bobbled start. posted solid speed figures throughout. obv there's an element of injury concern but if they had decided to race her you'd figure she'd be reliable to go. i don't think she would've gone off at 20/1 but sometimes you can get good prices in p4's on some of those just on the basis that people don't consider 20/1 ML shots

I think bettors pursuing offshore books is a symptom and not a cause of the problem with horse racing today. The HR industry is hardly competitive in terms of rates it offers to its patrons, and the monopoly 20%+ rate can just be unbearable. Even "fish" will leave the track knowing they've been gypped when they hit their win bets a decent % of the time but still go home with lighter pockets. I may feel obligated to bet with onshore track pools if i knew the bets were truly just covering the cost of operation and not going into states' coffers, but with the current setup that's not clear. Like i said i'm happy to contribute when i actually go to SA (even though I could opt to place my bets offshore ahead of time) because the experience that provides is worth paying for. Anyway, i know we'll disagree on this, but just explaining my perspective.

CD,glad to see your back, and yes i never considered the states that wont allow people, good point. Vet,glad you understand we are just talking, some people dont get that,i like you, and think you make some very good points. I agree with a lot of what you say about the BS going on with the industry.

Definitely a class play. Funny how James Lloyd trains her thru her 3yo season, running in Graded Stakes and after they decide to call it a season after the QEII Cup.. Kathy Walsh takes over the training.. runs in a N2X in January.. most likely a freshener but, then something goes amiss.. the entire 4yo season goes on the shelf.. and here in the twilight of her 4yo season, Lloyd comes back on the scene and runs in a similar N2X.

I couldn't play her from a form perspective but, I she'd definitely be intriguing at a price.. Westwood has been banging 90+ beyers though.. and even when Hamydame was on her game, she was topping out in mid-80's.

Yeah Westwood Pride is far and away the best horse, hence the single on my main ticket. I just liked #3 almost as much as the 2nd and 3rd ML choices

sad Forty Paces couldn't get up in time, capturing 4th choice in 1st leg would've been nice. lol @ these TVG analysts. they are, for the most part, amazingly bad. before the 3rd race this guy is beside himself how the #1 was 11-1: "It's the ONLY horse that's won TWO RACES. I can't believe this!" that's saying a lot for a 2yo 25k claimer, especially when said horse is moving up in class obv finished last even behind the exhausted pace setter. even a couple weeks ago one of them went totally degen after a race in which there was an inquiry on a 30:1 winner: "I just know he's gonna get taken down because I had him in my pick 4" not even in a joking way. just so much despair in his voice as if his rent check depended on this ticket.

lol, you guys.. i TVG exactly for this reason.

The lulz are legendary.. who wants to sit and watch Jeff Siegel's nasally whine post parade after post parade? (although he is knowledgable... I just find it yawn-inducing)

If i'm not working... I'm on personal time. Racing is my personal time.. so give me the corny guys and the pretty girls over the dry toast.

LOL Kev your a sick sob if you can handle listening to a TVG host for any amount of time. Back when i had both channels TVG,HRTV after i knew i knew my stuff,i always muted the tv and watched the races. Now i mostly watch on Calracing almost 100% of the time, and use Twinspires for any track outside of California. Jeff Siegel now where i do have respect for his horse knowledge, there is no way i could listen to him for any long period of time as well for exactly what you mentioned, his voice, its like a screetch sometimes, hard to explain unless someone has heard him before.

What hotties do you speak of on TVG? You still like that Christina O,or whatever her name is? Too smooshed a face for my liking, and way to small, hell i could grab her like a split finger fastball. For myself,i dont think there is 1 female on air talent that has caught my eye, except maybe that French broad who i only see at BC time,or maybe that gal from the Fairgrounds last name Ali i believe. Jill Byrnes is a attractive woman, but im sure like Millie Ball way way to much upkeep. Give me a gal with a big butt,a decent face, and low self-esteem,and i will give her 2 minutes she will never forgett

Sometimes!

I remember in the days of my youth, how bad the Aqueduct inner track would get on the rail. Inside speed was doomed.

I think she is a great combo of pretty and goofy. Also, she loves the game.. when she pulls out some bloodstock trivia from the 80's, I cream my shorts.

1st Kev,think before you say your going to cream your shorts again, you killed this thread right from the front page

A couple other things quick,i love the big sendoff from Hollywood,LOL,guess not much you can do about ol mother nature. It is calling for rain on opening day at Santa Anita as well (Sunday the 26th),so i may be on the sidelines that day,Honcho dont cap mud.

On a completely different front, but relative to 2+2, one of my questions i think about a few times a year was answered today. I clicked over to Cardpalyer.com and there he was,Jeff Sarwer,on the front page, and an incredible story to stay the least,i will try and post the link. I always wondered what happened to this "kid" then.

I've been reading a book about the history of the Triple crown winners, first few chapters were about the formation of the three different races. One chapter on Man O'War who did not enter the Derby. So far I am through the first two winners Sir Barton and Gallant Fox. Man racing was way different lol.

One interesting thing from just a few years before then is that the top horses had careers with very few races...it took about a hundred years, but things have come full circle. Take a look at the career records of the best horses from about 1900-1915...typically between 5-15 races in their careers.

Well in a few hours my season, and Santa Anita opens up. I am anxious to see the finished product with the change back to dirt, looking forward to those higher takeouts also, thanks!

I think the 8th race has some value to it,i think the ML may hold on TC if thats who you like, and some very solid other choices at a price as well. I like GoGo/Asmussen in this spot,(#3) and i havent heard much about GoGo's plans, but this could be a good combo for the meet. I think the So Cal jockey colony is very impressive right now.

Good luck to everyone playing, outside of the 8th i am just a fan tomorrow, and excited for the 2011 season to begin.
