Sale went well, I posted a recap here

Mario Gutierrez was up from Santa Anita on both days, checking things out, and maintaining good ties with Troy Taylor (trainer) and Glen Todd (owner) who he rides first call for up at Hastings, and also rides most of mounts they ship south to Santa Anita.

Kathy Walsh purchased a couple horses from the sale. Her father was a longtime top trainer at Longacres. Quite a few decent trainers over the years have migrated out of Washington to chase larger purses down in Cali.

Hollendorfer purchased the sale topper for 125k.

This sale really built upon last years, Dedomenico really operates a class organization. Can't wait to come back again

Black Caviar again this Saturday stepping up to the 1400m distance for the first time.

She's in quality company. Southern Speed bolted in to win last start first up and won the Caulfield Cup last year during the Melbourne Carnival - as good as form gets nearly. This is not a walkover by any means but her odds may seem so (1/25).

8 horse loose on the lead? Can we get 9:2?

Trickmeister? 2nd after a 15-month layoff? No thanks. Horses like this are why I dream of exchange wagering.

Only thing appealing to me is Ruler On Ice cycling back to form.

kind of thinking Shackleford will be pressing pace with Trickmeister, no? looking for a midpack horse that has shown rating ability and a decent closing stride.

Friend says if they try to rate shackleford off TM it could backfire.

Headwind in the backstretch will turn into helping wind around the final turn.

Any horse that moves early could get in trouble imo.

Strange race with so many horses in questionable form.

*your analysis makes sense if front two burn eachother out. Points to dutrow's other horse?

i think it sets up very nice for Ruler On Ice. Definitely think Shackleford will be pressing Trickmeister early. Should be a tough lead to get and tougher to maintain.

I've got a gut feel about Soaring Empire...

Also think Ruler on Ice will be in play, too. going to check some earlier races to see the trends. Trickmeister is certainly not out of play here, but can't bet al the horses.

Flat Out is an enigma. no idea how he will run. could be 1 or last.
