IMO, if either of the connections back out of the proposed race in NY, that horse should not able to win HOY. The race is perfectly spotted 5 weeks before the BC so Zenyatta can still run there and no synthetics for Jackson to whine about. There are no excuses not to run. Kudos for NYRA for trying to give the fans what they want. If the owners are afraid to sack up ,then fine but you can't dodge this race and still win HOY.
I agree with you on NYRA doing a good job and trying to get this done, but completely disagree with your opinion RA has to run,and or beat Zenyatta for HOY.
RA won a big 3 (Preakness),doing so beat MTB the Kentucky Derby champ. RA also won the Haskell in record fashion, smacking down the Belmont winner Summer Bird. So why does RA have to beat Zenyatta? Hell thats a HOY resume for RA right there IMO. She has beaten every 3 year old thrown at her,and doesnt have to win or race again this year to win HOY IMO.
Quality Road could win the BC classic by 20,and still not get HOY,he missed the big 3 because of injury.
And i am a huuuuge Zenyatta fan,but she cannot beat RA period! If you remember the Haskell,RA couldnt get the lead as her normal style, she was smart enough to understand that, stalk the leaders, then pounce and destroy, and destroy she did. She showed he smarts in that race especially.
The race would go like this,RA would have a 20 length lead into the far turn, and when Zenyatta made her move (shes only a one run horse) she would fall short by 5 still.
I understand lots of people would love to see this race,(im not one of them) but i dont think RA has to prove a thing to me anymore this year.
